So I don’t know exactly how much I’ve spent on my beardie since he was given to me with almost everything I needed to care for him, but I can give you the basics.

First off, for the flooring you can use paper towels to start, or contact cabinet paper that can be found at a dollar tree. I don’t think tile is that expensive, but if you’re unable to get some at the moment those work just fine. I also suggest covering the back and sides of the tank so the beardie doesn’t see its reflection and get stressed

You’ll need at least one hide on the cooler side, which can be made from something as simple as a small cardboard box with a hole cut in it or some bricks that are arranged into a cave-like hide

A basking area can be made from bricks purchased at Lowe’s or Home Depot, or if you choose to use any driftwood/rocks you find just make sure you clean them properly

Calcium powder is also extremely important to help your beardie not develop MBD. While I don’t know how much I’ve spent on my beardie, I can safely estimate it’s $700+, give or take a bit. One of the most expensive is buying the greens and bugs for him. I’m growing a garden to feed him but since it’s not ready yet, I have to constantly buy him collards, turnip and mustard greens, along with various fruits and veggies which can go bad very quickly. I’m in the process of looking into buying his superworms online where you can get a better deal, but at the moment I’m paying 100 for $10 at my local exotic pet shop, which he goes through quickly.

I don’t know how old you are, but if you say you’re not old enough to properly take care of a reptile I would wait a few years or so until you get another. Bearded dragons, while more of a beginner reptile than others, still require a lot of time and effort to make sure they stay healthy. I would recommend doing a lot research throughout the next few months (look at multiple sources, don’t just listen to people at a pet store because often they don’t know what they’re talking about), and if possible, perhaps slowly start gathering the needed supplies in order to properly care for one

I got you. I would skip over the Nicrew all together and just opt for something more expensive that will get the job done but is still in your price range. I have had the Nicrew, lights in between the Nicrew and what I am about to recommend, and then the lights I am recommending are now on all my tanks. There is SIGNIFICANT difference in plant growth even in my suuuuper low-tech tanks.

It's pretty much the same, but handles LED more consistently (less flicker as you attenuate the voltage going into the light. Generally you don't have to worry about flicker, but sometimes it happens when you dim all the way down to like 10%. Dimmers for LED seem to handle at least that aspect better).

For power, you will need an extension cord unless you want to plug the light directly into an outlet just inches away. Usually, you plug the Quasar power connector into the extension cord and then you connect the extension cord into the dimmer and then finally the outlet. My suggestion, is to either buy the lightest weight extension cord you can find, just something really thin, as it will drag less on the light if you have it gaff taped to say, the ceiling / walls or anywhere else.

I started by using cheap 15 to 20 ft small extension cords and then finally moved onto using zip cord / lamp wire. The advantage to using zip cord is that it is very very light weight and can be hidden easily and the best part is that you can make your own cords extremely easily, any length you want and add plugs anywhere along the cord quickly by using add-a-tap plugs (allows you to connect multiple tubes to the same cord).

Creating your own cords is very very convenient and easy to do.

Technically, any plant will be fine any high light, but it's always a good idea to try to pair the plants with the light that you have, or vice versa. With even just a Stingray, you'll probably be hitting 45-50 PAR on a 20 long, since the distance from the light to the substrate will be absurdly short. The best way to alleviate this is to raise the light somehow, either with some sort of pipe contraption like I built, or mounting it to the ceiling or wall.

For that high of light, I would definitely recommend a timer that allows multiple on-off periods and have the light on for 3-4 hours, then have a 3-4 hour siesta, then on for another 3-4 hours. This way, the plants have time to use up all of that high light they've gotten from the first burst and they'll be ready for the next. It won't overwhelm them and it should keep algae in check to a degree. If this is a new tank, prepare for diatoms... delicious, disgusting, aggravating diatoms.

Sure! I used these lights from amazon. I think they are supposed to be for garages but they met the specs I was looking for (CCT: 6500k and 2100+ lumens per square foot per light) and were relatively inexpensive. I have 2 on each shelf connected to eachother by cords that are included in the pack. The pack also comes metal snaps that screw in, but I opted to attach using large command picture hanging strips. I kept the metal brackets just in case the command strips didnt work but so far they have been working great and I dont have to put as many holes in the hutch. Plus I have run the lights for 8 hours straight and can still touch the aluminum housing. I would say after that amount of time its like touching one of those hand warmer packs right when they start. Its kind of hard to see from the pictures but I did have to drill small 5/8th inch holes so the lights could connect as a continuous unit. This was honestly just for me because I am forgetful and have them hooked up to this timer. I also have some mini fans that I would like to put in so I can keep the doors shut... but I havent quite figured that out yet haha

Started seeds in early november. Put in the system around november 8th. the last pics in that album were around nov 16th, so about a weeks worth of growth. i pulled out the lettuce tub today to clean it up and i'm gonan replace it with a DWC bucket for some cherry tomatoes. here's pics of the peppers in their current state http://imgur.com/a/NY6xR . insanely bushy and got a few peppers and a TON of blooms that are quite healthy.

the lettuces were a mix of Perpetual spinach (A type of chard, it did insanely well), some oak leaf, some butter crunch, and some romaine. The lettuces did pretty well, but I think I was overcrowding the tub. Also, most of those lettuces really didn't do too great with the "cut and come again" type harvest, but the P. spinach did GREAT. You could slice off the outer edge leaves at the base, and the next day it'd be back to growing new ones at a crazy pace. I think next time, I'm just gonna do a tub full of it cause it was not only delicious eats but grew very very well. Lettuce is just so damn cheap at the store that it was not very practical to grow in the tubs, which is why I'm pulling it out to start some cherry tomatoes. With as good as the peppers are doing, I imagine a cherry tomato plant in a DWC bucket will thrive quite well.

The nute levels were around 1000-1400 (Meter seems to fluctuate). I have hard water with a base PPM of about 160. The nutes I added had calcium/mag added, so I was a little worried about possibly too much calcium since my water definitely has plenty, but nope, no issues. Big healthy green leaves and fast growth. No root rot as well. Only issue so far is aphids. Lots of the little fuckers. Going to my local hydro store here today to try and figure out a solution

Many slow cooking recipes have two options of how you can cook the recipe: a longer cooking time on low heat, or a shorter cooking time on high heat. From what I've seen, it's often something like 3-5 hours on high or 8 hours on low.



You can still use the slow cooker function if you're gone along period of time using one of those programmable timer. There exist analog ones or digital ones.


I've only ever used the analog ones and they were fine. Basically, if you've never seen one of these before, you plug in whatever electronic device you want into it, and you program the timer to shut off electricity to the device at a certain time. This is basically the same sort of thing people use to make their TVs or lights turn on at certain times of day as a sort of burglar deterrent when they're away on vacation. I used one of these timers to to turn on the lights in the morning half an hour before I woke up - like a super cheap, DIY gradual wake-up sun lamp.

Anyway, the way you can use this with your Aroma cooker is: if you leave at 9am for 8 hours, and you only want your Aroma cooker to cook for 3 hours, you plus the Aroma cooker into that timer, let it start cooking on high, set the timer to turn off at 12. It'll then only cook for 3 hours.

On certain devices like lamps, TVs, and simple coffee machines, you may also be able to use the timer to get the device to turn on at a specified time. I'm not sure what your Aroma cooker is like - if it's something where you can flip a switch even when the device is unplugged to have it start slow cooking, where it's just waiting for a power source in order to start cooking, then you can use the timer to program it to start cooking after a certain time past, say, 9am in our example. That way, you wont have to worry about the food getting too cold for recipes that have a shorter cooking time. Hope this makes sense. Feel free to ask for clarification.

I know it contradicts a lot of what you're asking for but I thought I would explain the set up that I've just created for my house. I have Arlo cameras and Samsung SmartThing hub that came with a motion sensor. I bought a GE smart switch to replace the light switch that turns the porch light on. The nice thing about the Arlo cameras is that they show up as motion sensors on the SmartThings hub. Now I have a couple of options for my porch.

I've configured SmartThings to activate the porch light (and garden lights) to come on if the Arlo detects and motion. The Arlo will at the same time trigger the recording to start and stay on until all motion calms down. Then I have another SmartThings routine that will turn off the porch (and garden) light if no motion happens for the following X minutes. The problem with this is that the Arlo doesn't react immediately to the motion (maybe routing through their cloud services and back to SmartThings) so I've been using the SmartThings motion sensor to trigger in addition to Arlo.

Overall pretty happy and it's been pretty reliable so far.

PS: I'm no electrician and was easily able to switch out the light switch but if you're worried about doing this yourself you could always just use a smart bulb.

Some of this advice is terrible. Your problem is not with you not being a morning person, or not using a strict enough alarm, but with the state of sleep you're waking up in. The problem with most alarms is that they don't take sleep cycle into consideration, and will wake you up regardless of the depth of your sleep.


What has worked for me, and has [actual clinical evidence behind it] (https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dawn_simulation) is dawn simulation and a sleep sensor on my phone.


For the dawn simulation you'll need to set a light on a timer. This can be as cheap or as expensive as you want, but I'd recommend a cheap proof of concept so you don't drop too much money seeing if it works. Set the timer to go off a half an hour before you wake up and ideally don't have the light be blinding, just enough to simulate dawn.



As for the sleep sensor, you can download sleepbot which I use, or use any other one, but the idea is that the app tracks your movement and noise, and wakes you up close to your intended time when you are not in REM sleep. This helps your immediate alertness in the morning and keeps your groggy self from falling back to sleep. You don't need shitty math alarms or pictures to take because the goal shouldn't be too torture yourself awake in the morning, but to work with your natural sleep system. Set the alarm to wake you up between the time you actually want and the time the light has turned on, and set the volume to gradual so that it can ease you out of deep sleep.



So the way this works is that the light goes off a half an hour before you're supposed to get up, and then sometime in that next half hour, when you're not in REM anymore, the alarm goes off. You'll wake up feeling alert and ready to kick ass. And you're actually working with your body's natural systems.



Bonus points: want to fall asleep better? Slowly begin to dim all the lights in your room at the same time every night (for example I turn off main light at 7, turn off the TV at 9 and begin to dim my phone until I'm ready to actually sleep. It's basically dawn simulation in reverse.

So the plus just gets you Zigbee control. I have an Echo Plus, but all my smart home devices are wifi, and not Zigbee (except a few hue lights, but I already have the hub for that).

GROW DETAILS

I have three different strains, Northern Lights, Pre-99 big bud, and pure power plant, and then an unknown seed(which I planted about two weeks ago as the previous unknown seed turned out male, see previous post [here](https://www.reddit.com/r/microgrowery/comments/5qo1yo/early_sign_of_balls_details_in_comments/0. One in each 3-gallon smart pot. For the first two weeks of growing I had an 18/6 light schedule, and then switched to 12/12. (I'm essentially doing 12/12 from as early as the plant could respond to the change in light schedule). Over the past 15 days I watered twice with tiger bloom nutes.

I definitely made the mistake of not listening to your advice when I originally posted and am trying to grow 3 plants in a 1.5X2.5X3 foot tent...It is getting crowded, I should've listened and stuck with one, maybe two plants. Other than that I haven't had any problem that I have noticed other then a few spots of damage on leaves occasionally but no pests or wilting. I'm sure there are things I could've done better though. Setup guide - Sorry to say that if there is a setup guide, I didn't read it. I do IT for a living, so setting up a few devices on a network is not something that I have to think much about.

Paying for themselves - I got into this slowly. It all started from the profits of using CashPirate on a single tablet (not shown). From there, I used the profits to buy another device. The profits from that bought another, and so on. Essentially were paid for from the moment I bought them - except for the first tablet, and that was an Xmas gift.

Device management - I don't use anything to manage my devices, they are placed within easy reach from where I sit by my computer. If the fail when I'm not home or over night, then they fail. If an app starts to fail frequently, then I retask a device to run another app.

The timer - If the timer doesn't cut off power at the correct time, then it isn't working. It is a cheap, simple mechanical timer with 1/2 hour settings.

Shopping list - Some of the stuff you see in the picture was used because I either had it on hand or bought it cheap. I may not buy some of the same things, if I were to do it again. Still, the two things I do recommend are:

I believe that wouldn't work because those 30 watt drivers output DC power for LEDs, but lamps like you linked are designed to work with AC power. Although the Tradfri bulbs are LED, they are designed to work with AC power and have a small driver built in, where as the panel you linked requires an external driver.

There are a couple ways to approach this:

• use a tradfri bulb in the lamp you are building

  I'm not sure if the Tradfri hub supports that kind of in wall switch, but if you're interested in a project like this you probably ought to consider larger options. Ikea is just one maker of zigbee bulbs and accessories (Tradfri). There is a whole zigbee ecosystem. If Tradfri won't work with the wall switch, you could get a Wink hub that will work with both your Tradfri bulbs and the switch.

Your previous post mentioned that this started after day light savings time. Have you considered just putting her to bed at her regular (before the time change) time? Then maybe adjusting bed time by 5 or 10 minutes every night to make it an easier adjustment for her?

Also, I let my kids stay up as late as they want but only if they are in their bed reading. This goes for all three of them (11, 7, and 2.5) and has always worked wonders for keeping them in the bed. They usually fall asleep on their own within 30 minutes or so. We have these lights strung up in the toddlers room on a switch timer so they automatically turn on at bedtime and off 30 min later. Gives him enough light to look through his book (his current favorite is "Too Many Carrots") and we don't have to risk waking him up to turn them off later. The 7 year old has a cute cat shaped silicone light, which she adores, and the 11 year old uses a head lamp from our camping gear.

Add in some sandbags, extension cords, etc and up and running as cheap or cheaper than bad quality led panel lights. Not an elegant, durable, or great solution but way better than poor natural light and then can save up for proper lights at better budget maybe?

I don't know about best practices.. but this routine worked when I had to wake up early (4/5AM) to catch the bus:

Before bed:

• Running on the treadmill for 1/2 hour
  
• Camomile tea, shower
  
• Avoid laptop/tablet/phone
  
• Place bottle of water on bed stand
  
• Plug in your brightest lamp to something like this and set it to your alarm time so it turns on when you are supposed to wake up
  
  After waking up:
  
  
• Drink the water immediately
  
  You could try drinking a glass of water before bed for times when you definitely don't want to oversleep, it'll force you to wake up 'cause you have to go to the washroom.

I'm not OP but I have a similar setup in my apartment. It's not as nice as OPs but it's working well for me.

I have a floating shelf with a 2 ft T5 light hung above it on an electrical timer. It's hard to see in my picture but it's quite bright. I think it looks pretty nice and allows me to keep a small collection on display (I have the shelf right at eye level).

I don't like the analog timers because they make clicky noises. I've also been through A LOT of various timers on Amazon because I own 2 auto cat feeders along with my multitude of reptile lights. I will break down my experience for you:

Enover TS18 Digital Timer -- I needed this for my triple-prong power strip and it worked for a couple months but then started turning the "random" feature on by itself and wouldn't turn off in the evening. Junked.

Westek TE08WHB Timer Strip -- I really like this one and I still use it for a couple of my cages. I like that 4 are timed and 4 are always on. NOTE though that when the power goes out this does NOT keep the time and will reset, which is very annoying.

WenTop Digital Timer -- I used this one for my single cat feeder for awhile, but it eventually stopped working for some reason. I never figured out why but it stopped turning anything on. Junked.

Century Digital Timer -- I bought a second feeder and needed a timer that had 2 outlets. This one has worked well so far, but you may just need a single outlet.

Woods 50006WD Analog Timer -- I still use these when my digital timers break lol. Honestly, they're really reliable, they just make that clicky sound that drives me nuts. But it's a great deal if you're just looking for something that works with no frills.

Nearpow Digital Timer -- My most recent purchase. I've only been using it for a few weeks but has been working fine. It has a bunch of settings, I have no idea what all of them do, I just need it to turn the lights off and on lol.

Bit late to the party, but it can also help if you put their light on a timer (like a cheap plug-in one) so it always comes on and goes off at the same time. Makes it easier for your fish to learn to anticipate when it'll be bright or dark - after awhile on a constant schedule they don't act so startled when the lights change.

I have that light with that dimmer on a 12” x 12” cube.

The dimmer isn’t absolutely necessary but the light is bright so you’d probably want to dim it down if you aren’t doing a high light/ high tech setup.

As you progress in the hobby, it’ll give you room to raise the brightness as you get into co2 injection and fertilization.

So the light switches control the neutral, and you have no hot to gangbox? I don't see how a dumb dimmer could possible work without controlling the hot.

There's two solutions. The first is not to worry about the switches, and use smart bulbs instead. Obviously, with a chandelier, that may not be cost effective.

The other is what you're thinking, but using an inline dimmer instead of an inline switch. Here's one (as an example).

With either method, you're presumably need some way to actually control them, such as Lutron Picos or something.

Honestly, the third option of fixing the wiring would be the best, if the wiring/house allows feeding a new wire to the gangbox.

Have you considered using a relay module? They have some good ones on AliExpress that are WiFi controlled and even come with an app. There are 32 channel modules but they are a large jump in price and I suggest purchasing two 16 channel boards instead. You could easily setup a timer or even control them with timed relays or an Arduino if you know how to do such programming. A cool thing I realized with this clock kit that I have is that the white connector on the right is actually a variable voltage out connector that is on for 3 seconds when the alarm goes off. I doubt it will work for your purposes but it's neat.

A simpler option is using 30 of these. I use one for my soldering iron. You push in or pull out the black tabs for 15 minute increments of on or off.

Be sure to use a close-by and easily accessible kill switch(es) for the entire line-that sounds like a lot of energy.

You could probably dim those. Just make (or buy) some sort of PWM LED controller.

So, an LED is a DC appliance. It can't be AC really. All 'AC' LED lights just rectify the AC into DC. :P

So what makes the AC replacements 'dimmable'?

Well, the AC ones that cooperate with AC dimmers contain a controller that converts the variance in the ~120 volts input AC (when you use the resistive 'old style' dimmer switches for incandescent lights) to a Pulse Width Modulated DC signal driving the LEDs. When the voltage coming in is higher, each 'pulse' is longer with less space between them. When the voltage coming in is lower, each 'pulse is shorter with more space between them. That's an over simplification, but that's the concept. LEDs aren't really 'dimmed', they're 'pulsed' to create the dimmed effect.

I use these programmable timers for my iguana and turtle lamps. Each timer can control 2 devices and support 8 daily on/off cycles. Great for fish tanks, too FYI.

"Dimmable" LED bulbs are able to be dimmed with an external dimmer. This will work in any dedicated lamp but you wouldn't want to hook a dimmer to a lamp that also combined some other function as the other function might not respond well to the power being reduced.

The next step would be to buy a dimmer. The safest way to get started would be with a cord dimmer like this or this. Just make sure it explicitly says it works with LED bulbs - an "incandescent/halogen only" dimmer isn't what you want.

That's all you need assuming you aren't interested in a "smart" dimmer (controlled by a device). If that is what you are looking for you should head to /r/homeautomation.

Unfortunately, LEDs with high enough lumen output are expensive.. It's just a fact of life. I would go with T5s to start. But, if you have a pretty small footprint, you could use this this LED light,. I've never used it, but I believe people are relatively happy with it.

For six plants all you need is a 400w HPS (high pressure sodium) bulb for veg and a 400w MH (metal halide) for flower, a 400w digital ballast, an enclosed light hood that you can raise and lower, a carbon filter connected to a 442 cfm duct fan connected to an aluminum foil duct hose, connect duct hose to the enclosed light hood, get some more aluminum foil duct to connect to the other side of the enclosed hood and have the other end of the duct hose going out of your tent or cab. wish I could post a pic of a custom cab I built. IMO I would go with a tent because you can always take it down if you want a break from growing. As far as what type of medium you are going to grow in e.g. hydroponics or soil that is up to you. Soil is easier as hydro doesn't give you much room for error you have to have everything dialed in almost exact like the ppms/temp/ph but once you get the hang of hydro your grows are much faster. If you use the 400w lights for six plants you will get maximum yield from your plants. For veg run the lights 24 hours and flower 12/12. Get a timer for your light bulbs when you decide to put your plants into flower so you don't have to worry about turning the light on and off, I'll include links for everything. Oh yeah I would not use seeds I would wait until dispensaries have clones that way you don't have to wonder if your plant will end up being a male or a female, obviously you want female plants.

I bought two of these light panels, and founds that they were a tiny bit too large to fit under my cabinets. I dissembled the frame and found the LEDs were simply mounted to a thin piece of sheet metal. It was easy to trim the sheet metal down by about 1/4" with tin snips to fit. They're plugged into a timer that's set to 12 on 12 off.

Yeah, so most cannabis plants , except for autoflowers, are what’s called “photo-period” where their growth is determined by the light schedule, so we basically have to recreate natural patterns of sunlight.

During the first stage , Vegetative stage, you want to run your lights on 18 hours, off 6. During this phase, you train your plant to grow the way you want it to. See: Low-Stress Training, Supercropping, Mainlining, etc. the plant does not create flowers during this stage. I always flip my plants into flower mode whenever my plants are a little under half the size I want them to grow to, as they can double in size or more during flower.

To put your plants into flower mode, you just switch the light schedule to 12 hours on, 12 hours off. Flowering times vary based on strain, but average is about 8-9 weeks of flower before harvest.

You can get a digital timer for your lights on amazon for cheap. This is what I use in all of my tents.

First off, if you can afford it and you've done your research, the Apex is absolutely 100% worth it. Control topoff, light dimming, dosers, heater, sump pump (feeding modes), etc, and an awesome web interface.

Now then, the more sane version is something like this. http://amzn.com/B004TGO6RY With that you can set a ton of on off times for the total minutes you want your dosers running. You can even run them at different times in the same location.

I personally have my Apex set to oscillate 1 minute on, 20 minutes off for 10 hours every night. You can't quite get away with that many cycles with a straight digital timer, but could do something similar.

Get an electric digital outlet timer, and plug in a lamp. I use a sun lamp. Using light is supposed to be better I heard.

Think about it, you could go low tech, and have a hot plate from a thrift store under a kettle - you could use a vac pot (heat the water in the lower pot on the timer, put the top on when you get downstairs. (Ask me how I know)

So I Hope that opens up some thinking for the folks looking over our shoulders.

I am using a TV stand for my aquarium that looks like this and the entire CO2 setup fits in one of the smaller cubby holes. I am using a 24OZ Empire paintball tank that has this adapter hooked up to this regulator.




Those three items will makeup the majority of the cost of pressurized CO2. The other things I bought were a drop checker, a CO2 diffuser and CO2 airline tubing.

Finally, I bought an outlet timer since the regulator I previously mentioned has a solenoid valve.


The core components are the tank, adapter, regulator, tubing, and diffuser. The total of those came to $130. Adding on the dropchecker and timer brings the total to $160. Filling up the paintball tank at my local sporting good store cost 5$, but that should last this tank anywhere from 3-6 months.

Wow, thank you for this post! I was wondering why both of my Samsung Galaxy Exhibits recently started getting this weird splotch in the middle of the screen. Turns out, it was the bloated battery pushing up against the screen from underneath! I also happen to have a bunch of other phones (some running Perk, but most running other apps constantly), and almost half of them had bloated batteries because they've been plugged into chargers (both regular and multiple port USB chargers) 24/7. I just ordered replacement batteries, but I also just ordered this so that I can have all the phone batteries cycle automatically (worth it to me since I have so many phones).

I believe all the Iris stuff is ZigBee, so if you either installed a ZigBee light switch in your garage (or whatever is closest to where your car) or installed a plug-in module that's ZigBee, that should work.

As long as it has constant power to it (ie: not battery powered) both should act as a ZigBee signal repeater.

I believe GE makes ZigBee versions of both.

Just double check your Iris stuff to make sure they're ZigBee - I'm 99% sure they are.

Slow cookers work great with appliance timers no need to interrupt a good booze induced sleep.

It seems the comments mention two hurdles to this problem: bacterial growth, and avoiding leaving it on warm for too long.

The best solution I can think of is something like this plug-in timer. This one's kinda pricey, but it's just an example (also, I'm not sure if you need one with a ground or not).

You can turn on the slow cooker before you leave for work to avoid the "delayed" bacterial aspect, and then set the plug-in timer to shut it completely off after ~3 hours of warming. You should arrive home to a perfectly-heated pot o' goodness without the pesky worry of intestinal destruction!

Your question is too broad and without knowing your background/experience, there's not really an easy way for people to help you (everything would either be over your head or way too explanatory and ramble on for 5 pages).

Rigging up a custom circuit just for your box fan is overkill. Just buy an outlet timer and set it to turn off 2 hours after sleepytime.

I just cycle small periods of time like 30 minutes. I use every time slot possible and just let it cycle throughout the day.

Any bedroom or living room I'll use the digital timers, although in my garage for lights Ill use an analog one because the ticking/turning noise isn't loud enough to be an issue.

Finally getting around to installing a CO2 system in my established, planted 45g community tank. The tank is mainly comprised of mosses, dwarf hair grass, tall hair grass, crypts, and a few java plants. I timed how long it took for the pump to go thru a 5 gallon bucket (my normal amount to water) 3 times, and set the timer to go off for a little longer than it took on average, on the day I wanted them to get watered.

I'm now using it to water since I'm in flower and it's easier to just let it water them while in darkness, since I'm only awake for a little time they are getting light.

I am a heavy sleeper. I have a programable timer running a spot light directed at my face. I have alarms on my phones, but none of the nice pleasing melodies I got the most annoying alarms I could cut out of youtube videos. I also have a radio clock set almost to NPR, almost, you can hear it, it's off a little so annoying random signal noise cuts in too. Also another clock radio, but just set to buzz in a different location.

You don't need to spend a lot of money to accomplish what you want. Just get as many of these cheap basic timers as you need, one per schedule. Say you want your lights on at certain times but everything else on at a different time, all you need is 2 of these, and plug in a cheap power strip to the timer so you can hook up as many appliances as you need to the timer. Not sure why you would even consider spending so much on just a timer...

If you can't find an actual alarm clock like that, have you looked into a 7-day programmable outlet timer, that you could maybe plug a radio (or mp3 player+speaker) into? I use them to make lamps into light "alarms" for my bedroom. It's really, really customizable - I have different on/off times for Mon-Fri AM, Fri-Sat PM, Sun-Thurs PM, and Sat-Sun AM, and could do a lot more if I wanted. There is an internal battery backup in case of power outage too, but I haven't tested that capability yet. I put dimmer switches on my ordinary bedside lamps. Left the nursery one on its lowest setting all night so we could do changes without turning it on and off. Bedroom one I kept under my pillow. Very handy, very cheap.

You don't need a "night light", you want your snake to have darkness at night. Light and heat should be from two separate sources, and make sure your heat source is always controlled by a thermostat. If your room does not receive ambient lighting from a window, etc. you can use something as simple as a clamp lamp with an led light bulb screwed into it, plugged into an outlet timer. As long as the light is not overly bright (grow lights or aquarium fixtures can be too bright) and your snake has a place(s) to seek shelter this will work fine.

No problem! I used this LED strip since it’s lightweight and doesn’t get very hot. It has screws so I attached it to the lid that way and drilled tiny holes for zip ties so the cables aren’t hanging down. I have it on a timer like this.

• Plan according to every task taking the longest it's ever taken, and then if you can afford the risk of being late, you can reduce your worst case estimate by 10-15 minutes.
  
• Make sure you're awake on time. If waking up is hard, get a programmable outlet and turn on a light for slightly before your alarm goes off
  
• If you wake up and look at your phone, add that time to your estimate
  
• Set a second alarm for when you need to get out of bed.
