Here's a copy/paste of what I like to recommend for "protein powder pudding":
> I started off using only Greenmax Purple Yam & Black Soybean Powder, mixed with juuust enough water to turn it into a smooth, pudding-ish texture. It tastes like freakin' cake batter, but the numbers are very reasonable.
>
> Greenmax is pretty awesome on its own, but as I've started needing more calories, I've been adding in various of the following -- again, adding only just enough liquid (water or soymilk) to turn it into a pudding, since I'm not going for a smoothie here:
>
> Protein powder (chocolate or vanilla flavors go great with the Greenmax's cake batter flavor)
> Cocoa powder
> Chia and/or ground flax seeds
> Molasses
> Blueberries (frozen work best, IMO -- mix 'em right in without thawing first and the result turns out like ice cream)
> Tahini (lot of calories here; use wisely)
> Coconut oil (only if MFP shows me I've got a lot of calories & fat left for the day)
>
>
> So in a soup or cereal bowl, add in any of the above that sound good, plus just enough liquid, and then stir, stir, stir... then eat! It's quick to make, delicious (to me, and to my SO who has quite the discerning sweet tooth), no heat required, and easy to customize to adjust the numbers in whichever direction you need.
I hope this helps. Some protein powders are definitely tougher to get down than others, regardless of how they're prepared!
Edit: Unless too much liquid was added, you probably wouldn't want to try to actually drink* the final product. Spoon is best. :)
Welcome!
Don't worry too much about macros at this point. Total calories are way more important. You burn at least 2,600 calories per day so something like 2,000 calories per day would be a great goal for 1-2 pounds per week fat loss.
If you find a high protein/fat,low carb diet helps you keep to your calorie goal, that's fine. If you prefer a higher carb, more plant based diet, that's fine too. Feel free to experiment to see what works best for you.
As far as sugar cravings after meals, there's a couple ways you could go. You could cut out added sugar completely to go cold turkey. Or, you could fit small portions of sweets (like 100 calories worth of ice cream or a small piece of chocolate) into your calorie budget.
Another thing I do is experiment to replace a lot of the sugar-filled desserts that I love with no-added-sugar "healthy" versions. Some examples:
Overall, good quality cocoa/cacao powder and peanut powder are key ingredients for me to help to satisfy that dessert craving without sugar.
(Edit: 140mg caffeine, correction courtesy of DonOblivious)
This is a good answer, but an incomplete one. Looking at the side of a can it looks like you have a few basic ingredients: Sugar (25g), Taurine (1000mg), Caffeine (
2500140mg+), Ginseng (200mg), and B Vitamins.Taurine and Caffeine are both stimulants, and do the bulk of the CNS loading in the mix.
B Vitamins aid in the metabolism of energy from various energy sources, and alone is a very effective supplement for energy levels.
Ginseng seems to have about a thousand unproven uses, but is generally accepted to lower blood sugar, and improve insulin response, this is likely responsible for the 'whoa this is great' energy drink high, instead of the 'too much Halloween candy' sugar sickness.
And Sugar is just a pick your poison kind of exercise.
Adding costs all up to the above linked products:
Taurine: $23/kg Serving: 1000mg = $.023 / serving (1000 servings per pouch)
Caffeine: $2.99/(100200mg) Serving: 140mg = $0.02 / serving (143 servings per bottle) (edited)
B Vitamins: $8.98/100 Serving: 1 tablet = $.09 / serving (100 servings per bottle)
Ginseng: $18.65/(250500mg) Serving: 200mg = $.03 / serving (625 servings per bottle)
Grand total is about
5116 cents per every can of monster replaced, assuming you're alright providing your own juice crystals, I have as well not hunted at all for price reductions or bulk pricing on the above supplements. If you want to avoid the stimulants and still get an invigorating effect, I would just recommend the B vitamins on their own, combined with some free office coffee, they work quite well.

Asian snacks <3 I had to look this stuff up last night for my friend. And I knew some of them. I'll give them to you. These are really popular snacks btw, and a few of them I'd die for. So here are some suggestions for you <3
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004XNJI9O/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=33WU2WWCB547C&coliid=I1BGJCP0WEJ0IK I linked this because there is different versions of milo. This is the more asian version of it, the african one is a bit less chuncky. But THIS is amazing <3
Squid chips.
Hello Panda they are like little cookies with cream in the middle SO FUCKING GOOD
Iced gems, cookies with icing on top. They are okay, but are big in places like singapore.
White Rabbit candy. Like vanilla tootsie rolls. I LOVE THEM and also big in singapore.
<3 hope these help =D
I dunno if heat would affect those things, but pretty sure that will ruin the taste of your coffee. Citrulline malate doesn't taste bad on its own, but it's super tart/acidic. I wouldn't want that in my coffee. The other ingredients will probably just taste like powders, which don't taste good. I do a custom PWO like this and it usually tastes like ass, but citrulline malate helps mask the taste because it tastes like sour apple. It dissolves just fine though, so I wouldn't expect mixing with coffee to do anything there. I just put it in a cup with little water and drink it, then drink something to wash the taste out of my mouth and go on with my day.
I would recommend just mixing that stuff with water and drinking it separately from your coffee. If you really want to flavor it, use a little flavor pack. My grocery store sells tons of packs like that for super cheap.
OP here - I have some good news for you! Granted, Diet Coke with Lime is gone. However, in my search for replacements, I have found something that seems to work well.
There are these tiny packets of crystalized lime called True Lime that you can get on Amazon or elsewhere. I've found that one packet flavors a can of Diet Coke just right. Two packets seem to work well with a 20oz. bottle.
There are still some places you can get Diet Coke with Lime - but it's all at exorbitant prices. The Fridge Packs (three 12-packs) are up to $38 on amazon - those are shipped directly from a Coca-Cola distributor in Atlanta. I stocked up when they were around $24 for a 12-pack. I still have about ten 12-packs left, but I'm not as worried now that I found out about True Lime packets.
I hope you can get True Lime where you are and that you like how it tastes.
Good luck!
My daily electrolyte supplements usually look like this:
The rest of my electrolytes come from food. If I still feel unwell after the above, I may drink another ElectroMix. This seems to be working well for managing my induction.
Remember: Spinach is a good source of potassium and other healthy nutrients. It never hurts to mix it into whatever you're making or have a side salad with some olive oil.
Best of luck to you and KCKO! :)
People use all sorts of tea to make pearl milk tea. I believe the canonical tea is cheap Ceylon, but a lot of places use even cheaper Assam instead. Some people add a second tea, like high-mountain oolong, to add complexity. In HK, they often add ripe pu'er. I've also seen many people recommend Golden Sail lychee black tea and Sunflower jasmine green tea, which are cheap Chinese supermarket brands.
Thai tea is usually Ceylon with condensed milk, food coloring, and often star anise (and sometimes clove, cardamom, vanilla). The leading brand is Number One. That's what your favorite restaurant probably uses. Black sugar PMT was made famous by the Tiger Sugar chain. I've tried it, and tbh I prefer the cleaner flavor of sucrose- or fructose-sweetened PMT.
I don't know how to make cheese foam, but here's my recipe for Taiwanese milk tea:
In 1 c of boiled water, steep 2 teabags of Ceylon for 15 min. Add 1/8 c each sugar and creamer. Chill completely. Shake before serving to improve the texture. Serve with pearls, either the instant ones or homemade ones with tapioca starch and black/red/brown sugar.
Funny enough, another user here mentioned them (as they have 3g of carbs per packet)
Electrolytes
I add them to water and it tastes like a sports drink. It's very helpful if you're used to sodas and don't think you can drink water alone. I would stick to one packet a day and then make sure to eat potassium rich foods like avocado and spinach.
Gotta get yourself the real stuff I have a friend in Thailand who had sent me some of this (same exact bag) along with a bunch of curry and other stuff... It's pretty damn good. Steep at 200F for like ~5 minutes, then add milk to your desired milkiness and some ice (or just chill the tea first, a much better option). You may also want to add sugar, because the tea itself is pretty bitter. The dry tea leaves smell like heaven with vanilla all over it, but as you know, the tea doesn't quite taste like that lol
>Anyway... I just started keto today. I'm not sure if I should be counting total carbs or net carbs. Today I consumed 18 total carbs, 8 net carbs. So when I read to stay under 25 carbs, is it total or net? Which do I need to be more concerned about?
Definitely count net carbs. So stay under 25 net.
>I understand that once my body starts going into ketosis I will probably feel "tired" and "light headed" from what I have read.
That happens if you lack electrolytes (particularly magnesium/potassium). So just make sure you get lots of fluids! Especially if those feelings set in, some people will do a broth, but I find having some powerade zero on hand is useful, or the powerade squeegy thingies so that you don't have to go home and cook anything if the feeling sets in.
If you're on your way to the gym, you can spike your water with some flavored BCAAs. Otherwise, if you need some flavor without the junk, I'm a fan of Nuun vitamin tablets in water. I also enjoy adding some lime to my carbonated (or non) water, and these packets are great for on-the-go.
Nice! I'm just kidding about the weight being a big deal.
A sealing top may be very worth the extra weight.
The PB jars I've found are quite narrow and a little harder (or impossible) to get your hand in to scrub real good. Water and shaking is usually enough, but reaching the deepest corner with a scrubbie seems like a nice idea.
Plus, getting PB out of the jar (as you know) is an exercise in frustration compared to dumping powder.
USA grocery stores have them. And here:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B0005XO2OM/ref=pd_aw_sim_sbs_325_2?ie=UTF8&dpID=51nhN2%2B7kYL&dpSrc=sims&preST=_AC_UL100_SR100%2C100_&refRID=V8XR7C5T4P8Y49FC7E1J
Edit: talenti gelato containers are also 1.8oz and have sealing lids but are about 12oz volume.
My wife commented that their plastic is so hard that is seems like it would shatter in an accidental fall. Whereas the Gatorade is flexible and unlikely to shatter when hitting the ground.
I am still trying to get the fiber part in check, but have found this to be the best sugar free electrolyte supplement out there.

Hope this helps and congratulations on the wedding :)
This stuff is absolutely amazing. I love coffee, but only when it's iced so I always just buy that from a local coffee shop. But as far as stuff to make at home... Cadbury all the way!
Thanks for the contest!
I haven't tried them myself, but these sugar free powdered margarita mix packets could be a good option for the future! Just order the water/lime juice/tequila and add the powder yourself.
I'm not sure about how much, but as for a source I highly recommend ElectroMix (available on Amazon). I bought some recently for backpacking, knowing I might get crampy with the intense exercise, but it made me feel so much better that I'm just going to start eatiing it all the time. It's also pretty cheap, even on my college budget.
http://www.amazon.com/ElectroMIX-Electrolyte-Replacement-Drink-Mix/dp/B000KHIYNI
Eh, most people don't make it themselves, just buy a bottle. I imagine it's heated to steep the spices. That's how I've done it when I mulled my own. IMO this is one of the best spiced ciders available
Unfiltered apple juice is also called apple cider, even without spices. Here is an example of a bottle of that, which I recently bought. The top is squashed because the store apparently dropped the bottle, so I got it half price. I will probably ferment this unless I get lazy and just add the mulling spices and serve it hot.
Then there's sparkling cider, which is literally bubbly apple juice. It's delicious, crisp and refreshing, and traditional at holidays in my family.
If someone offers you cider in the US and there is no other context, the most likely thing they are talking about is hot, seasoned apple juice, often made from an instant powder packet (example) (which are mostly available in stores in the fall), however with all the options you can't necessarily be sure what you'll be handed if you don't clarify.
What you can be sure of is it will be non-alcoholic. You'll always see "hard cider" in the US to refer to the cider you're thinking of.
I use this electrolyte powder that I ordered on Amazon to make up for the missing supplements. There is no sugar but it still tastes pretty good!

This will change your life, trust me. If you don't want a box of 100, you can get a 32 count box at Walmart for like $2 in the baking section. My room mates and I drink so much Mexican beer we buy the 500 count True Lime boxes.
> Do you know any recipe for homemade sports drink w/o salt and stuff like coconut water?
Why do you want a sports drink then? For energy or taste? The main things would be sugar (carbs, energy) and salt (electrolytes). That's why people recommend coconut water - it has both in great proportions. If you don't want salt, just use sugar. If you want some flavoring, I like the jolly ranchers to go packs, but there are dozens of brands that make similar flavor packs.
I'm doing low carb anyway so I'm trying to avoid sugar. So I haven't tried any actual syrup.
I mostly just do carbonated water, but my wife bought the Mango one of these at a store somewhere and I liked it a lot.
Also sometimes I put sugar free Mio in it.
we use the orange and grape koolaid water enhancer's a lot because the Crush ones are not sold in canada.
also the ikea syrups are good but you have to go very slowly as they will cause a lot of foamup. best to put some in a tall glass and slowly add your carbonated water and go mix on demand with that per cup.

I'm totally the same way, just really don't care for plain water, want some flavor.
I thought I'd struck gold with these True Lime (no sugar) packets:
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005ECLIUA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
...But then I found that citric acid is really bad for your teeth :/
So I'm switching to making iced tea with herbals like Celestial Seasonings, or keeping fresh lemons and limes handy, though they also have citric acid in them, they at least also have vitamin C.
...Sigh.
Hope you get some better answers here!
This! We were apprehensive about asking for 6 ice waters at first, but they were always more than happy to provide them. We would make several stops a day to get ice waters to re-fill our water bottles.
Additional tip, we bought the little kool-aid water flavor bottles (like this: https://www.amazon.com/Kool-Aid-Liquid-Orange-1-62oz-Container/dp/B00B2YMB46/) to flavor the kids water. Made it much easier to get them to drink more and cut down on the begging for other (much more expensive) drinks.
I buy mine through Amazon: True Lime 100 count
It's carried in some grocery stores too, along with their lemon and orange versions. 1 packet is equal to a wedge of lime. I keep a handful of them in my purse along with a little dropper bottle of stevia--just a few drops to offset the extreme tartness of the lime, not enough to turn it into a sweet drink. It's made a huge difference in my drinking habits!
Australians in USA ... well that's easy give them the long lost taste of home

honestly if the do not love both of these with a passion they are not true Aussies
If someone wanted to make this at home it wouldn't be that difficult, based on using a powdered tea version. There's a booth beside the food court in my office and one near the local train station that sells it, but then I live in Bangkok.
This is one version of it on Amazon, which would be easy to mix with soft serve ice cream, or even the other box or tub type (I never used Amazon vendors for that, of course, so I'm not recommending any in particular): https://www.amazon.com/Number-One-Original-Thai-Iced/dp/B00712N6II
This will help! I love it! I also add salt to it. Your problem is electrolytes.
http://www.amazon.com/Alacer-Corp-ElectroMIX-Emergen-C-Lemon-Lime/dp/B000KHIYNI
You're right, not sure why you're getting downvoted. AmantisAsoko literally just copied what Wikipedia says which it clearly says may include (which most of the time it doesn't).
I drink Thai Tea all the time. It's extremely easy. I usually get Police Dog brand (what's available at my local asian grocery stores) and add in condensed milk and ice. This is what every Thai restaurant I've ever been to does and what most Thai recipes will tell you.

Ingredients: Tea, food coloring.
Dude, Ive been buying the crystal light liquid drops and keep them at my desk. Ive saved tons of money not buying a drink at lunch. One bottle is like $2-3 and lasts over a month! I even keep them in my purse :)
Mio and even powerade have drops too!! No need to waste $$ buying drinks for lunch!
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DDXG9BA?th=1
http://www.crystallight.com/classics
There are tons and tons of options for these in the grocery aisle!
Regardless of which recipe you use I recommend getting some True Lime (crystallized lime powder). https://www.amazon.com/True-Lime-Bulk-Pack-Count/dp/B004RZA6XA
This is the best thing I could find of single packs.
>but this past weekend I admit I've been bad and ate 200-300 more calories than I should have with takeout
So, first, try not to think of it as "you were bad", you indulged a little. This doesn't mean you failed your lifestyle change, it doesn't mean you have no will power. Eating only 200 - 300 over your calorie limit is actually an incredible step, a lot of folks can go over by over 1000 calories (myself included!). Don't beat yourself up, these are the types of things that are going to happen. You have to live your life. The key to effective weight loss and longer-term healthy weight maintenance is ensuring that your weight loss plan doesn't depend on a perfect, lab-like setting.
>How do I make it easier?
With water drinking, there are a lot of different tricks. I know people that use those little Crystal Light Drink Packets to add flavor to their water. Other folks get a soda stream and add carbonation.
>I hate the bloated/even fatter feeling I get and going to the bathroom every 20 minutes.
So, you might just be forcing yourself to drink more water than you need. Recent studies show that drinking excess water can be really challenging and might be causing your strong negative reaction to water drinking. What I do is have a camelbak water bottle at my desk, which I sip on throughout the day. I don't chug it, I just grab a sip whenever I feel like it. Maybe that might help?
While it much cheaper to buy the tea leaves and make it yourself, the Joy Luck is good. If you want to brew it yourself, Number One is really number one.
I use this recipe
I’m almost positive you guys have something similar. Go to your grocery or liquor store and look in the mixers section. Wherever you would find club soda. There should be some sort of flavored club soda or seltzer. Check the nutrition and ingredients. Should be nothing but water and natural flavor or essence. If not order something like this and make your own. You can just add it to pre made club soda.
I know I put this link in a comment to the OP, but seriously try this stuff out. http://www.amazon.com/True-Lime-Bulk-Pack-Count/dp/B004RZA6XA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1395080985&sr=8-1&keywords=true+lime
I got bulk boxes of the lime, grapefruit, lemon, and orange. It's seriously the best stuff ever.
It often comes with a mix, to which condensed milk is added. I prefer this brand. You can find this in most Asian food markets as well. You'll have to run the tea through a cloth filter (tea sock), but I find that clean cut up pantyhose, or a large silk tea bag works just fine.
Your results may vary but I discovered a fresh lemon in an extra large glass of water could impact my blood sugar. I switched to True Lemon.
The Lime ia equally Tasty! And, to be honest, this is a much more convenient and economical solution; plus adding it to most tap water eliminates ever drinking canned or bottled flavor chemicals.
Typically a finely ground strong black Assam or Ceylon tea. I use this mix from amazon
Milo is sold on Amazon FYI:
http://www.amazon.com/Nestle-Milo-Chocolate-14-1-OZ/dp/B001IUZPME
These lime crystals (they come in lemon too), would save you carrying an extra liquid.
https://www.amazon.com/True-Lime-Dispenser-Count-2-82oz/dp/B005ECLIUA/
So, a note on the watermelon, it tasted good, kind of like a Jolly Rancher, but boy did the flavor stay with me all night :(
Orange has been my favorite!!
For reference:
http://www.amazon.com/MIO-Orange-Tangerine-1-62-Ounce-Pack/dp/B005VOOQGO
or
http://www.amazon.com/Kool-Aid-Liquid-Drink-Mix-Orange/dp/B00B2YMB46
Blegh. I got some lite salt last weekend and tried pouring it into my water because I have heard people say they do that. Apparently I should have put some flavoring in there, because even though I thought it was a small amount of salt for 24oz of water, it was pretty much salt water. And I was determined to drink it! So, that was gross.
This stuff: Elctro-Mix is my godsend right now. It has ZERO calories & carbs and it isn't crazy sweet like other powders. It has a tart flavor, I hate when drinks are super sweet and fake tasting. I drink 1 in the morning with 12oz of water, and keep a pack on me jic I crash during the day.
Powder is so 2010. Level up and get the concentrate in the squirty. So much easier to deal with. Can toss one in your bag for the day, give some to strangers, and never have to deal with clumps.
Like this. I usually have at least 3 different flavours on me at any given time. The Tang one is usually one of them.
Cadbury Drinking Chocolate
You're welcome.
Here is some you can buy. Use half whole milk and half heavy cream when you make it.
You're welcome.
Grain teas are good, more of a snack than a meal though.
check this product out, tastes good and gives you some electrolytes you need. http://www.amazon.com/Alacer-Corp-ElectroMIX-Emergen-C-Lemon-Lime/dp/B000KHIYNI

If you just want something convenient, quite a lot of hot chocolate powder mixes available in shops around me are vegan, so you might have some luck if you go to your local supermarket and start reading nutrition labels!
I see you're in Canada so I'm not sure what's available there, but here are some example 'accidentally vegan' hot chocolates:

But really, like other people have said, when you get down to it it's really just cocoa powder and sugar.
I'm guessing he's referring to: https://www.amazon.com/Nestle-Milo-Chocolate-14-1-OZ/dp/B001IUZPME. I know it's popular in India and Australia and wouldn't be surprised if that extended to Malaysia. Think Ovaltine.
At least that's what my mind immediately went to
This is one that looks like it is recyclable.
Gatorade Powder, Orange, 18.3-ounce Canister (1 Canister) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0005XO2OM
Powdered apple cider mix. Like this : https://www.amazon.com/Alpine-Spiced-Cider-Apple-Flavor/dp/B0016BS29S
But it's generally way cheaper than that.
Do you have a target near you? They have hot chocolate stirrers (a stick with marshmallows, chocolate something like that on it) for $1 right now. Then you could get her some drinking chocolate to go with it and a face mask (cheaper in store) to pamper herself
I went with something like this

These are made to go in a bottle of water, but I bet they can be added to tequila. But, does tequila have carbs? I genuinely don't know.
Trailrita. Tequila, water, and a couple packets of lime powder.
Make it in a smartwater bottle, shake it around, sip on it. I even bring it into the tent so I have a drink to sip on while I read / fall asleep. It's also nice to wake up in the middle of the night to go pee and you already have a little bit of a cocktail to sip on while staring up at the stars before going back to bed.
Tequila can also go in coffee for that morning pick me up.
I eat a lot of "snacks" as meals, so these are my ideas for chow on the go without a fridge:

Decent potassium source:
Electro Mix
Some Thai tea mixes contain spices. At least this one does.
I also use an electrolyte mix that I mix into water 2x a day. The first time I did Keto, I had a headache and leg cramps about a week in and I drank two of these before I went to bed and my symptoms went away by morning. I drink two packets a day now usually.
Kool Aid comes in syrup too.
