(Part 2) Reddit mentions: The best power dental flossers

A water pik has changed my life. I got a highly rated one off of Amazon for a fraction of the price of the branded one. I've always hated flossing and just cannot make it a good habit. I've had declining gum health in the last few years so decided to try the pik. It took a few days to get the hang of without spraying water everywhere, but it is soooooo satisfying. You can easily do it in the shower to avoid spray.

I usually use it every time I brush now and mix in flossing here and there when I feel like it. I've even found myself using it after meals instead of just morning and evening. Highly recommend for anyone like me that hates flossing as it's certainly better than nothing.

My kids also have the SonicareKids, again based on my sister the hygenist’s recommendation. There’s a Bluetooth app that will tell you how well they’ve been brushing, and some game that I haven’t let my kids play, lol. Mama doesn’t share her phone. But my sister has said that she can tell the difference between kids that use a Sonicare and those that don’t. The kids who use it have fewer cavities, gum disease, and plaque.

i like this panasonic oral irrigator - similar to a 'waterpik', but having used both i find the panasonic to be far superior. it uses AA batteries; i use it in the shower.

I bought this one. First one arrived DOA, but the replacement has been great. Not too many settings and a decent reservoir.

That is a huge freaking reservoir! I got one of the smaller single-unit doohickies and love it.

This is the one I received this past christmas. It is fairly primitive compared to modern oral electronics, but that's probably a good thing. It gets soaked when I'm using it and you can even take it in the shower. It isn't easy for me to use without a mirror so I recommend getting a mirror and a cup to refill it if you take it in the shower. The battery lasts for maybe a week? There isn't any low battery warnings, or any indicators at all for that matter- you can feel low battery by the strength of the water stream.

I'll be honest, I've only been using it for a month and a half, but the pain with flossing and waterpik-ing has gone away, and I've been able to retain the habit so far.

I'm not in need of a sleeve, but I feel like I could be swayed if it were the same color as my Backpack. This is the closest material I could find with a quick Google search.

How about using a reusable floss holder handle like this with some type of eco floss such as silk floss that's compostable. You might also want to try a different water flosser, if it broke after a month it probably wasnt great to begin with. This aqua flosser is the one I have had for 2 years now and i find it to be very easy to use and my dentist says my gums look much healthier. You may still need to do some regular flossing though, I find the aqua flosser is really good for gums and light plaque buildup on the gum line but not great at getting like food stick in between teeth.

There's a kind you install in the shower and they work amazingly. There's no need to spend $60-70 bucks on this

Oh I have a portable water flosser that uses a USB charger.

Mines would hold a charge for over a week.

My hygienist has one too and we were talking about how useful it was.

It's way more convenient to use and I even use mine in the shower.

It does help. We are both smokers, too. I have a little chip on one of my front teeth that gets brown sometimes. I would not recommend white strips. They eat off a layer of enamel and they make your teeth really sensitive for a few weeks after use.
