You're probably familiar with most of these already, but these are my favorite foods for filling up on minimal calories. Let me know if you want any additional info about any of them.

  • Puffed corn - 60cal per cup and lots of volume

  • Sugarfree jello cups - 5-15cal each

  • Halo Top ice cream (praise be)

  • All the green leafy vegetables

  • Soup (even cream-based ones can be pretty reasonable)

  • Egg whites

  • Oat fiber

  • Shirataki noodles

  • Tofu

  • Coco Lite - https://cocofoods.com/shop/index.php/coco-lite.html 16cal each. They're light, puffy, large crackers. Kind of like packing peanuts that you'd use to ship something. Not bad with Laughing Cow or something similar on them.

  • Laughing Cow - https://www.thelaughingcow.com/spreadable-cheese-wedges/ Mostly 35cal each.

  • Arctic Frozen ice cream - https://www.arcticzero.com/ 150-300cal per pint. Easier to find than Halo Top, but pretty gross. Good for desperately eating a whole pint of ice cream.

  • Rice crackers - https://www.amazon.com/Ka-Me-Crackers-Original-Ounce-Packages/dp/B000EPP56U?th=1 This link is just for reference. You can find different brands of these kind of crackers at most stores. Around 100cal for 16 crackers. Not bad, pretty bland.

  • Wasa Crackers - http://www.wasa-usa.com/products/crispbread/multi-grain/ Many varieties, pretty low cal.

  • Turkey/chicken chili – If you like canned chili, the turkey or chicken based ones are pretty good and have far fewer calories than the beef ones. I like Hormel's Turkey Chili, but it's admittedly pretty white trashy. Always get it with beans. They provide extra protein and fill you up more.

  • Rice cakes – 35cal each and good as a substitute for crackers.

  • PB2 - https://www.amazon.com/PB2-Powdered-Peanut-Butter-6-5/dp/B002GJ9JWS I've never tried this but have heard good things from people who like peanut butter.

  • Protein powder – 150ish calories per serving. Fills you up fast and is cheaper than your premixed drinks.

  • Hot Pockets – If you can stand these, avoid the low fat ones. The regular kinds have about the same amount of calories. 200-300 cal each. Good for a quick, shitty meal.

  • Walden Foods - https://www.waldenfarms.com/ - I've tried their salad dressing and their coffee creamer. You're not going to be wowed by any of their stuff, but for having almost no calories, it can be worth it.

  • ThinSlim Foods - http://www.thinslimfoods.com/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=8 – I haven't tried them, but have only heard good things.

  • Freeze-dried fruit – They are different than "dried" fruit. They've had all the liquid removed, so they're crunchy. 100-150 per bag generally and you can find a bunch of fruits.

  • Sprouts of any kind – alfalfa sprouts, brocolli sprouts, etc. Cheap and filling with good flavor.

  • Greek yogurt – Usually 100cal per serving. Comes in some good flavors, and you can find it pretty much anywhere.

  • Low cal pudding. Either premade or boxed-instant. You can find them in the 25-100cal per serving range. Can be nice for a quick sweet or you can mix it with other stuff.

  • FlatOut Bread - http://www.flatoutbread.com/ There are a bunch of brands that make similar items. Great for making little pizzas, rollups, etc. 90-110cal each.

  • Crunchmaster Multi-Grain Crackers https://crunchmaster.com/products/multi-grain-crackers/ Delicious on their own or with a topping. Roughly 8cal per cracker.

Depends on what stores you have near you and those options, but there are some things I've been happy with.

The only thing I've ordered from Amazon that I haven't found in retail near me -- these breadcrumbs (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B007JEYVN2/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Comparatively low-cal, no refined flour/sugar, hold up well in the air fryer.

Arrowhead Mills Puffed Kamut cereal (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057616T6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1) -- super low-cal, very tasty/filling.

Safe Catch tuna -- the link has plain, but they come in flavored now, too (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0057616T6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s02?ie=UTF8&psc=1) It just tastes a little more like tuna steak and has much less mercury than normal.

No-sugar versions of apple butter (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B001HTL70A/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and jam (link is to fig, but they have several, most sweetened with only apple juice -- https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00FMJ75M0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) 1 Tbsp of that, 1/2 cup of frozen fruit, about a tbsp of Weetabix = quick, delicious crumble.

12-packs of Annie's single-serving mac and cheese. I got the White Cheddar (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00D7D1Y7U/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) Also, goes well with turkey meatballs, a little spaghetti sauce, and some Parm.

And if you're into smoothies or baking, they have a nice vanilla powder. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01DUQXGHE/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o06_s00?ie=UTF8&th=1. I like it, and I think if I baked more, I'd use it more.

And these are great from Republic of Tea ( https://www.amazon.com/sp?_encoding=UTF8&asin=&isAmazonFulfilled=0&isCBA=&marketplaceID=ATVPDKIKX0DER&orderID=114-7390771-9050647&seller=A1JHOVMYJHOG8P&tab=&vasStoreID= ) I'm not sure about the claims and research, but they all taste good and have zero calories, so it's worth it for me. Also, every time I've ordered from Republic of Tea, it's taken a little longer than Prime time, but come with a sample or two in. So buyer beware/excited, I guess?

Good luck!

I'm not sure about your meal situation like if you are cooking for 1, eat with a family, do all the cooking, etc, but I find the best way for me to stay on track is to spend one day (it's really maybe an hour + a grocery trip) a week where I plan my entire week. There is two of us in my meal situation so normally I look through pinterest/cookbooks/magazines and pick out some recipes that look good and are in my calorie targets. If it says 4 servings we portion it into containers/our plates right away and eat it for two days. If it's 6 it's three days etc. I find longer than 3 days is too much sometimes and I will cook the other meal prior to needing it so we can alternate. It reduces the amount of days we have to cook making us less likely to say let's just order blank and completely removes the end of day decision of what to eat.

For my lunches I cook one meal on Sunday portion it up and eat it all week along with some sides. I eat the same unsweetened instant supergrain oatmeal with cinnamon every weekday for breakfast. It's boring and not amazing, but it stops me from having to think of what I want and panicking.

It sounds like you're like me and will panic at decisions and the amount of options, which leads to a crisis and full shutdown. So my best advice is to advance plan. I lay out my week in myfitness pal (building each recipe I've made in the recipe builder) and sometimes will have excess calories that I don't assign in case something comes up or I get a craving.

I know choosing recipes can be also overwhelming, but if you only have a couple sources and browse through them and pick a few it's easier. I know cook books are old school and most people say everything is online anyway...but for me having a limited number of ideas and pictures in front of me that I can pick from is easier than trying to think of what to search up online. I'm vegetarian and by far the best book I've bought is called plant powered protein link: https://www.amazon.com/Vegetarian-Times-Plant-Powered-Protein-Cookbook/dp/1493030973

It has complete calorie/nutrition breakdowns and every recipe I've had in it is delicious. I found it by just going to the cookbook section in the bookstore and opening a bunch. I immediately disregarded all ones without calorie breakdowns and then from there looked for ones with good protein and reasonable caloric amounts. Having this book to just browse through helps take away the overwhelming feeling of picking recipes.

I hope this wasn't too rambley and can help you on your journey. I have anxiety issues and I understand the problems that can come up with starting something like this and making decisions. Also, if you ever can't pick something to make the upcoming week or day feel free to PM me and I will tell you what I'm making and give you a recipe if you like how it sounds! They're normally pretty budget conscious as well since they're vegetarian!

You said you live at home, so you can't control all the food; that's fine. You can still do it, it'll just take some more willpower!

I echo everyone on meal planning. Every Sunday I make my lunches for the week (black bean soup this week), and I usually have the same breakfast (overnight oats) everyday (except this week I made a loaf of lemon blueberry poppyseed oat bread, yum!). Invest in a food scale (you can get a great one for under $30; here's mine) and take an hour or two on the weekends to plan meals. This way you don't have to worry about overeating or what your days are going to be like. This should help stop the anxious fasting. You do all the work at once and then have breakfast/lunch everyday ready for you.

As for snacks, do you get a say in what snacks are "yours?" I freaking love potato chips and would get a bag every week. Once i started getting more serious about making a change, I started getting the reduced fat kind. Then I tried pop chips. Now I don't eat so many chips at all, and I have reduced my snacking. Just gradually make healthier choices until it's not too hard to say, "I don't need chips today." I also keep cookie dough in the freezer, the kind that are individual cookies? So if i want a cookie i have to wait about thirty minutes for the oven to preheat and the cookies to cook. This also saves me from just reaching in the pantry.

I've got plenty of gluten free recipes if you are interested! My husband isn't gluten free, but he doesn't complain. Most of my recipes just use regular ingredients so it's not like you miss gluten. Also I prefer recipes with lots of protein to keep me full longer.

Lemon Poppyseed Oat Bread (8 slices) Adapted by reducing honey to 3 tbsp, Poppyseeds to 2 tbsp, used 2% Fage greek yogurt, and added 1.5 pints of blueberries. (237 kcal, 35.3 Carbs, 6.1 Fat, 11 Protein)

Overnight Oats
I was using Bob's Red Mill Muesli, but now I'm making my own blend with oats, pepitas, sunflower seeds, dried cranberries, and coconut. You can tailor it to what you like! Mix together and let sit overnight; I usually eat it with diced apples.
1/4 cup Muesli (or your own mix)
80 ml Coconut/almond milk (I use Califia Farms)
60 grams Fage 2% Greek Yogurt
1/2 tbsp ground Cinnamon
1 tsp chia seeds
(278 kcal, 27 Carbs, 11 Fat, 19 Protein)

Here's the soup I have in the slow cooker now! (5 servings)
I used chicken broth instead of veggie broth, so it's not vegan. I'm still debating about cooking some lean ground turkey to add in, but i'll decide after it's done! (305 kcal, 65.5 carbs, 2.1 Fat, 21.7 Protein)

Hope these help a bit!

Another version of OP's recipe: 98 calories at 16 slices

Ingredients:

1 cup mashed ripe banana (about 3 medium bananas)

4 tbsp coconut or any granulated sugar

1/2 cup Cocoa Powder
3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted and cooled to room temperature

2 tbsp unsweetened almond milk or milk of choice(see below for dairy free)

1 large egg(see below for egg substitute)

1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

3/4 cup white whole wheat flour(see below for Gluten free substitute)

1/2 teaspoon baking soda

1/4 teaspoon kosher salt

6 tablespoons semi-sweet chocolate chips, divided

Directions:

Place a rack in the center of your oven and preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with parchment paper so that the parchment overhangs two opposite sides like handles. Lightly coat with nonstick spray and set aside.

Mash the bananas in a mixing bowl. Double check the measurement to ensure you have 1 cup (less will make the bars dry; more and they may not bake all the way through). Stir in the coconut sugar, butter, milk, egg, and vanilla until well blended.

In a separate bowl, stir together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and salt. Add the dry ingredients to the bowl with the wet ingredients. With a wooden spoon or spatula, stir to combine, stopping as soon as the flour disappears. Fold in 4 tbsp chocolate chips.

Scrape the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Sprinkle the remaining 2 tablespoons chocolate chips on top. Bake for 16 to 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean with just a few moist crumbs clinging to it. Place the pan a wire rack to cool completely, then using the parchment handles, lift the bars onto a cutting board. Slice into 16 squares and enjoy!

Store bars at room temperature for 3 days or in the refrigerator for 5 to 7 days.

To make dairy free: Use almond milk or coconut milk and replace the butter with the same amount of a vegan butter substitute or coconut oil.

To make vegan: Follow the dairy-free directions in the note above; For the egg, you can experiment with a flaxegg, or garbanzo bean juice

but I haven’t tried this yet. If you do decide to play around, I’d love to hear how it goes!

To make gluten free: Replace the wheat flour with the same amount of a 1:1 all purpose baking flour blend, such as Bobs Red Mill Gluten-Free 1-to-1 Baking Flour
https://www.amazon.com/Bobs-Red-Mill-Gluten-Free-Baking/dp/B06XDW7CDB/ref=as_li_ss_tl?s=grocery&ie=UTF8&qid=1531364578&sr=1-1&keywords=Bobs+Red+Mill+Gluten-Free+1-to-1+Baking+Flour&linkCode=sl1&tag=thlastswi-20&linkId=a14424b49cd44c5f1438850589c0d640

I like to replace a lot of the sugar-filled desserts that I love with no-added-sugar "healthy" versions. Some examples:

  • Plain Greek yogurt mixed with peanut butter powder (I use PB&Me No Sugar Added)
  • Cacao powder mixed with canned pumpkin, either microwaved or eaten cold
  • Sugar free, fat free jello pudding. I like using almond milk to save calories then amping up the flavour by adding peanut butter powder or cacao powder
  • Oatmeal replaces a lot of desserts for me. I'll do mix ins like chopped apples with cinnamon, sliced bananas with almond butter, blueberries with maple syrup or canned pumpkin with almond butter or peanut butter
  • Sugar free gelatin. I make my own with beef gelatin and then flavoured/sweetened water enhancers like these Kool Aid ones or tea

I have a Vegetti that's about 3 months old. I've only used it 5 times with zucchini but it's turned out great. I'm looking forward to using it more often.

http://www.amazon.com/Veggetti-Spiral-Vegetable-Slicer-Veggie/dp/B00IIVRB3W

My favorite dish is sautee 1 spiralized zucchini in a little oil, then add one of the Laughing Cow wedges in the pan and smush it in until it melds together with the zucchini pasta. It tastes awesome.

u/Sapphi_ · 6 pointsr/1200isplenty

For small snacks that are around 100 calories I eat the following:

  • Skinny pop 100 calorie popcorn, I find these in my regular grocery store but I you can also find them at Costco or online
  • medium banana (around 100 calories but you have to weigh it to be sure)
  • light Greek yogurt (many brands are around 100 calories but check the labels carefully because many are more than that too)
  • light cottage cheese
  • tuna pouch with 1 tablespoon of tartar sauce mixed in (most pouches are smaller than the cans and around 70 calories, I buy the Kraft tartar sauce which is 30 cal per tablespoon). The flavored tuna in a pouch is really good too, especially the buffalo flavor and lemon pepper flavor. When I buy the flavored pouches I eat them plain instead of mixing with tartar sauce.
  • 1 granny smith apple (like the banana, you should weigh it to be sure, but an average size apple is usually around 100 calories).

I weigh everything with a kitchen scale. When I'm making a recipe from scratch I weigh all my ingredients and add it all up to get the total weight and the total calories. Then just divide the calorie total by the weight total in grams and that number is the calories per gram. Then I weigh out my serving in grams and multiply that by the calories per gram number and you will get the total calories per serving. It may sound like a lot of math but it's really quite simple and quick once you get used to it.

I bought this scale from Amazon for $10 and I've been very happy with it.
u/UppersArentNecessary · 4 pointsr/1200isplenty

You could look into getting a slow cooker. There are SO many things you can make with one, and generally the prep is quite simple, since the draw of a slow cooker is that you can walk away and come back to a finished meal. Another fantastic aspect of slow cooking is that you don't need to add cooking oil, which you typically do when sauteing.

Since you want to keep your calories down, I'd suggest looking at chicken or vegetarian recipes. This is a good one, for instance. In fact, the SlenderKitchen website has a lot of awesome slow cooker recipes. (Something to keep in mind when slow cooking meat: you really want to remove excess fat and skin, because the liquid-cooking will never get you that awesome crispiness.)

If you don't want to have leftovers, they make single-serving slow cookers which are remarkably cheap. This one is $12 and gets good reviews.

u/bananaslammock08 · 8 pointsr/1200isplenty

I love my spiralizer. I also really like having my own Popsicle molds so I can make healthy/low cal frozen treats. I also drink black coffee and I've found that a french press and a hand-turn burr grinder (all the decent electric ones are hundreds of dollars and I'm too busy buying Halo Top to drop that kind of dough to save myself less than a minute each morning) make the best black coffee, plus they don't take up room on the counter top. You do have to grind your own beans with a french press and you have to use a burr grinder to get a course, consistent grind, which one of those electric things with a spinning blade can't provide.

Having a mandolin can be nice for thinly and evenly slicing veggies for baked chips and the like (mine is Oxo) but I would recommend buying one of those cut resistant glove things to use with it as the hand held thing that comes with the mandolin to slide food across is annoying as all hell, but I think that's a universal when it comes to mandolins.

I also love my food scale (again, Oxo). I have the one that weighs heavier weights at home and the little baby 5 lb limit one at work which is great because then I can measure out a serving of crackers, dip, whatever out of a larger container at work and I don't have to pre-measure everything at home and use a bunch of containers and then have to haul it all to and from work.

u/umbravelum · 3 pointsr/1200isplenty

I just ordered this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00QVMFSK8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Yes, the name is stupid and it's not super cheap, but it had the best calorie:protein (96 cal to 24 grams) ratio I could find, and supposedly the taste is great. I'm not sure if it's gluten free, but I think it is and they've got all the nutrition on the page.

u/threewholepunchjim · 3 pointsr/1200isplenty

Yes - Good people of the internet. These, are a vital staple in my diet. They have the texture of a thicker chip. But so crunchy and good. Now, the flavor is NOT my favorite. It is really the only drawback - I think they are overly seasoned with that fake BBQ flavor. They have a hot buffalo one that is pretty good, too. Again, not amazing. But - it is part of their appeal. Chips are super triggering for me, but since these aren't soooooo good, I don't demolish the bag in one sitting. Plus, they are plant-protein based and I am always trying to get more protein.

10/10 recommend.

Edit: here is the link to their information on amazon for any people who want to get at them: https://www.amazon.com/POPCORNERS-Little-Rebellion-Protein-Crisps/dp/B07263DG8Y I highly you don't buy them on Amazon, though. It looks like only 2 bags come for 14$. They're 3/4 dollars in my grocery store.

u/stccc735 · 1 pointr/1200isplenty

Thanks for the link! These look great and it's exactly what I was looking for.

PS: This little slow cooker is perfect for small meals and it's pretty inexpensive!

u/chronicallynervous · 1 pointr/1200isplenty

Yeah, shirataki noodles really help me save calories while still filling me up!! I love them!! I actually just buy them in the regular grocery store (I go to Safeway, I'm not sure if those stores are in your area) and also Whole Foods. Depending on your area you might need to go to a specialty store though. They also sell them on Amazon with Prime in case you can't find them in person! Link Here

u/majime100 · 3 pointsr/1200isplenty

You definitely need the stand version if you want to spiralize harder vegetables like butternut squash. America's Test Kitchen did a review of the best spiralizers and they picked the Paderno World Cuisine Tri-Blade Plastic Spiral Vegetable Slicer as the best. It's only $24 on Amazon

u/HermionesBook · 3 pointsr/1200isplenty

Maybe look into other fillers for coffee. I can’t do black coffee either, I hate it. The creaminess helps me feel satisfied so I skip breakfast bc of it which lets me save my calories for later

Some things you could try:
Sugar free creamer (usually 20 cals for 2 tablespoons)
Half and half (40 cals for 2 tablespoons)
Non dairy half n half (I use Califia’s Better Half which is 15 cals for 2 tablespoons. It’s made with almond milk and coconut cream)
2 tablespoons of milk (2%, according to google, has 16 calories in 2 tablespoons)
Sugar free coffee syrup. 0 calories and I find half a tablespoon to be the perfect amount. I’ve used this one before and I like it. It’s currently unavailable on Amazon I guess but Torani is another popular brand

I also sweeten my coffee with a packet of Splenda. It says 0 calories on the packaging but I log it as 4 calories.

u/l31ru · 2 pointsr/1200isplenty

miso, yum, that's good. If you like the japanese soup flavors (usually reminiscence of seaweed, seafood-ish), you can also put in some dashi. I also like to use instant dashi.
Also, have you ever tried shirataki noodles? It's much lower in calories, good fiber content. It's pretty good.

u/1920pixels · 3 pointsr/1200isplenty

Thanks! Honestly you can use any type of container. This is what I use. It has two tiers, and my "bento scraps" (foods that I weighed and already logged but I didn't use for decorating) go in the top tier. I have this one as well, but the capacity of it is too much for what I want to eat per meal. I've seen other people on here use that type of bento box though, and it looks good! See these examples: Bento 1; Bento 2

I have a Greater Goods food scale that I got on Amazon and I love it. It’s on sale right now for $9.95 too which is a great deal!

For something different and fun, try zucchini and a spiralizer. I use this simple one; it's like sharpening a pencil:

Etekcity Digital Kitchen Scale Multifunction Food Scale, 11 lb 5 kg, Silver, Stainless Steel (Batteries Included)

I like this one because the numbers are backlit, it’s easy to clean, and most importantly the batteries last forever.

u/OnTheRocksWithSalt · 3 pointsr/1200isplenty

That’s what they’re getting at. A lot of packaging will say something like “approximately 13 crackers”, and/or just give you weight. This is why, for people using CICO, a food scale is a godsend.

Since beginning to count calories, I have purchased and frequently used my food scale (this one), measuring spoons/cups (I bought this set of 19 spoons/cups), a veggie steamer, a mandolin for thinly slicing veggies to put in lasagna instead of noodles, a spiralizer for pasta-like noodles, can covers to keep canned foods fresh after I open the can (like artichoke hearts, black beans, etc)., and a slow cooker/crock pot.

u/nedragb · 2 pointsr/1200isplenty

I use this one: https://www.amazon.com/Veggetti-Spiral-Vegetable-Slicer-Veggie/dp/B00IIVRB3W

It works extremely well for squash and zucchini. It was $6 at TJ Maxx but they have them at Amazon, Target, pretty much anywhere!

Yes I love my scale. I measure everything because even though a serving size may say 4 cookies (28g) that doesn't mean it's actually 4 cookies for a serving size, it's usually always above or below the weight. I use this scale, it's always accurate.

My Fitness Pal has a recipe calculator that does all the work for you.
You only have to work up each recipe once then it's there for you whenever you make it.

You'll have to have a kitchen scale which is about a million times easier to use than you think. Here's a popular one.

It was a wedding gift so im not positive but i think its this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0007Y9WHQ/ref=asc_df_B0007Y9WHQ4740853

It works really well except even when suctioned down the spiralizer does move a little. I'd recommend it.

I've had mine for over a year still working well, however it is not heavy duty so you have to be a bit gentle with it

I've got [this one] (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004164SRA?psc=1&redirect=true&ref_=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00) - it's the one recommended on the LoseIt sub and I've been happy with it so far, especially for the price.

u/geocentricmodel · 2 pointsr/1200isplenty

I use this one and it works well. Sweet potatoes sometimes take more finesse to work through without stripping the grips, but totally worth it.

I, too, have an issue with over eating Peanut Butter. It's so tasty!

So, I found a peanut powder on Amazon a few months back. It has no additives. It is simply Peanuts. I must admit that the taste isn't top of the line, but it has no sugar, salt, or any other additives. I will add some salt or any other flavorings to give a more delectable flavor.

Looks like this one, which I have and really like.

You should check out Protein Plus Peanut Flour; I'm a peanut butter fiend and this stuff is just great, especially given that you can get 32oz for $12.

u/nocontactnotpossible · 7 pointsr/1200isplenty

Ok so the black 3 section container is from Amazon, you can get a set of like 15 for around $15 and it's been lifechanging!

u/bobapanda · 2 pointsr/1200isplenty

We have these ones which are convenient 3-compartment meal prep containers, and also something similar to this Snapware set that we got on sale from Costco a while back. Lots of different sizes and shapes for different kinds of foods! They also have a glass instead of plastic version. Both options are microwave safe!

u/TransFatty · 2 pointsr/1200isplenty

I bought some on Amazon. This is the kind I got. I think it tastes the same as PB2, but it doesn't have any sugar in it. If you like the PB2, this unit is a lot more flour and costs more than the little jar of PB2, but it's cheaper per ounce because you're buying in bulk.

> The mandolin was a bit of a pain, but not so much that I'll spring for a spiralizer.

I was also hesitant to buy a spiralizer. I used my mandolin for a long time. Now, I love my Veggetti. Only $12 on Amazon!

u/CompetitionEater · 3 pointsr/1200isplenty

I bought this one off of amazon because is was cheap, and it works fine. Sorry for the gross link, I'm on mobile.

To some extent, they should all be the same. I like having multiple units, though (my last scale was analog), it makes logging stuff into MFP easier.

u/TheAdjunctTavore · 2 pointsr/1200isplenty

It is slightly more specialty. I order mine from amazon. It is like $14 for a large bag or $6 for a small bag and lasts for months. You can also find sugar free pbfit in many stores, but that has added monk fruit and salt and is much pricier.

Get a spiralzer and make zoodles aka zucchini noodles! You can spin though a couple of zucchini in minutes and have a full plate of noodles to cook quickly.

This is the spiralizer I have: http://www.amazon.com/Paderno-World-Cuisine-A4982799-Tri-Blade/dp/B0007Y9WHQ

I’m going to try and eat less sodium and see if that helps!

u/oneelectricsheep · 9 pointsr/1200isplenty

I bought this scale and it's maybe a centimeter thick 20 cm long and about 15 cm wide. They're more affordable and portable than you'd think. It's a worthwhile investment imo.

u/brunchowl · 1 pointr/1200isplenty

I believe it is this lil guy. Never had a problem with it. I also have an Etekcity one for my office which works fine too.

u/worstquadrant · 2 pointsr/1200isplenty

Etekcity I think it's called? here is the Amazon link!

u/Luna282 · 5 pointsr/1200isplenty

I just ordered Protein Plus Peanut Flour which is like PB2 but has higher protein content.

u/ssnakeggirl · 2 pointsr/1200isplenty

This one is $8.50. If you can afford it you should get it!

u/knitasheep · 1 pointr/1200isplenty

I use the Paderno spiralizer. I prefer it to the Vegetti, but the Vegetti is cheaper

u/YouAreHome · 11 pointsr/1200isplenty

I used to eat PB2 until I found plain peanut flour. Same thing but without added sugar:

I know you didn't ask me, but I literally typed "Skater bento" into Amazon's search and it was the first one on there. I know we're running on low calories but c'mon.

u/tinytaiga · 6 pointsr/1200isplenty

[I just purchased this one!] (https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B004164SRA/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

I had searched a bit on here and read some reviews. I really like it. It's simple, runs on batteries, small enough to put away (I have a small kitchen with limited counter space), AND! the screen stays on for 2 whole minutes. The previous one I had plugged into the wall. The display would shut off after maybe 20 seconds. That caused problems when I was constantly taring and adding stuff to the same bowl. NOT ANYMORE!

u/dunielle · 4 pointsr/1200isplenty

That sucks! Can you still return it? Amazon is pretty good about working with you and that just sounds broken :(

I bought this one and I can’t complain yet. Basic but got the job done and has high reviews... https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B01JTDG084?psc=1&ref=ppx_pop_mob_b_asin_image
