Imo don't use stock cooler, especially when you want to OC.

Make sure if you buy 1 it's AM4 compatible.

Best price/quality comes with the Evo 212 (using it myself on my 1700x):

Edit: (Didn't know it was the German Amazon..)

I have a similar model, although it has a 2500u chip in it.

First thing I would do is make sure the BIOS is updated. Dell pushed out a lot of updates that addressed some of the teething issues. One of them involved fixing a performance drop back in November.

One thing I've noticed with this laptop is that it seems to suffer from lack of adequate cooling if you push everything to the max. Use something like hwinfo and check your temperatures. I haven't confirmed it myself, but you might need to turn off turbo boost so the GPU doesn't get throttled. I keep mine on a laptop stand for better ventilation.

Don't discount the dual-channel issue. It makes a big difference on Ryzen, especially since the GPU has to use it. I'd absolutely get a second stick and swap out that HDD for an SSD.

I was thinking of this one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07G4N29HT
Along with an RX 560, 570 or something on the used market, whatever the best value will be.

I have Windows 10 Pro and I'm in the insider program, so I have 1903 (OS Build 18362.10005), and Storage Spaces is available to me.

The drives (3 of these, but only 2 in a software RAID1) also have Hyper-V images stored on both the C: (1 drive) and D: (2 drives RAID1).

I read about them and saw some guy's post about a major performance hit and "garbage" performance that originally scared me away from them.

After getting setup and running CrystalDiskMark, I expected the C: drive to outperform the D:, but it actually looks like I'm getting a performance improvement? Well not on all writes.

I also don't know anything about "channels" or any of that stuff, so I may have chosen a weird set to pair as I just plugged the m.2 drives into whichever slot. Disk0+2 = RAID1 (D:) and Disk1 = C:.

Granted, I have a the OS on C: and active Hyper-V machines on both C/D, but here are the results, tell me what you think:

If you have a nicely vented PC Case with a good flow of air, yes you can get the temps down a bit and still OC a bit further. I was able to achieve quite a bit more than that myself on a 7970 a while back.

[Here are the thermal pads] (https://www.amazon.de/dp/B00UYTTXSM/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_e2Fryb6874WCX) If you don't have any installed on the VRMs already, just cut them down to size and place them where needed.

Yes, definitely. The CX series is a tier4 PSU on Tom's:

http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html

It's easy to verify - took me just a few minutes to swap out the Corsair for a Seasonic X-Series:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B002VA7RPS/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I went with the 650, no issues since then.

Not sure if these are what you need, but this is from my UEFI on the taichi X470 with the 3200 profile loaded, other difference being mine's hyperx predator.

Not terribly familiar with settings as I don't OC, let me know if there's one that's not shown that may be useful.

I can highly recommend 144Hz monitor. Suggested model that has all features checked is bellow; 1080p 144Hz TN panel:

https://www.amazon.com/Nixeus-1920x1080-FreeSync-Backlight-NX-VUE24B/dp/B013CRPUBQ/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=NX-VUE24B&qid=1563032476&s=gateway&sr=8-1

Complete list on AMD site:

https://www.amd.com/en/products/freesync-monitors

I think for 24", 1080p monitor is better to stay in TN models. VA panels tend to have various issues (flickering, ghosting, etc). All IPS panels are 27" and 1440p.

you should be able to get them much cheaper than 381USD... You should be able to find some for closer to $300

like this one from MSI

Asus has one too

Or this one from EVGA

EVGA and MSI are both generally considered good brands... I don't know how Asus is on video cards but their Motherboards have always served me well.

I don't know much about Zotac but they have one for sub-300 as well

First one out of my head https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-CX600-Supply-Bronze-Certified/dp/B0092ML0OC

You might find more interesting options as well.

I meant your overall RAM requirement of 64 Gigs. GSkill's a good choice too..but did you read what one of the reviewers had written...I quote .."Could not get more than one stick at a time to POST when run at XMP settings. Worked fine at standard DDR4 clock" Plus it's wayyyy too expensive! You could get the Corsair RAM for literally half the price:

If you can go for 2000 there's one a bit insane, with a desktop 2700 lol

https://www.amazon.com/Acer-Predator-PH517-61-R0GX-Processor-Graphics/dp/B07GWX5X26?th=1&psc=1

It's quite big tho, but performance are good.

u/mr_ld341 · 1 pointr/AMDHelp

This is my PSU -
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B014W3EAX8

There are 2 PCI-E adapters, so that's can work with adapter - but how it's gonna affect the performance and OC?

Eh, I was hoping that you will say that I can use only that 8 pin without 4 pin and be safe...

u/Bals2oo8 · 2 pointsr/AMDHelp

You need the proper cable... HDMI 2.0, but you need at least a version 1.4 cable to support 4k. 2.0 for 4k with HDR

If you want to roll the dice Amazon has renewed Cross Hair VII's for $139. You can flash the BIOS with out a CPU to update it for Ryzen 3000 before you put the new CPU in.

I have tried a couple. I have a few HDMI cables and one displayport to HDMI. This is the HDMI cable I'm currently using: https://www.amazon.com/HDMI-Cable-6ft-Connectors-PlayStation/dp/B00NQ9OQU2
