10. ARCTIC Accelero Xtreme IV - Graphics Card Cooler, High End VGA Cooler with 300 Watts Cooling Capactiy, three 92 mm PWM Fans

    Features:
  • UNMATCHED COOLING PERFORMANCE: With a cooling capacity of 300 Watts, the Accelero Xtreme IV offers an unmatched cooling performance. The three 92 mm PWM fans and the pre-applied MX-4 thermal compound ensure efficient cooling, even under overclocking
  • BACKSIDE COOLER FOR HIGHEST EFFICIENCY: ARCTIC has developed and patented a back side cooler for unparalleled VRM and RAM cooling performance. It offers efficient cooling for RAM and voltage regulators and thus does not just allow higher clock rates but mainly increases the graphics card's service life
  • INSTALLATION WITHOUT THERMAL GLUE: Up to now the meticulous work of attaching different heatsinks with thermal glue was necessary. Thanks to the innovative back side plate this is a thing of the past. Without any thermal glue the graphics card can be returned to its original condition any time without leaving marks or residues
  • VIRTUALLY SILENT: Its low noise impeller and patented fan holder ensures the fan is ultra-quiet even under full load. Thanks to the PWM control, the fan speed adjusts according to the GPU temperature and thus the noise level remains at an absolute minimum. Accelero Xtreme IV is compatible only with the graphics card using a standard size PCB with a width of 98mm. Noise Level: 0.4 Sone at 2,000 RPM

SSD: Personally I'd go Corsair MP510 over the Intel SSD.

Memory: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 3200 C16 instead of the G.Skill memory. Same price but it will overclock better. Seriously, if you make one change, make this one.

HDD: 1 TB hard drive is a waste of money.

PSU: Can you wait for like a month? I've picked up Gold and Platinum PSUs for $60 after rebate during the holiday sales. The price of that PSU does not look good to me. I'd probably look at what the difference in cost is for a Gold or Platinum PSU from Seasonic or EVGA.

Monitor: I'd recommend going with AOC C24G1 over that Dell monitor. C24G1 is also 144 Hz freesync, but it has a VA panel which has much better contrast. Unlike most VA panel the response time is still pretty good on it, and the additional contrast really does a lot for image quality. I'll never own an IPS or TN monitor again. Here's a review of the C24G1.

If you can afford another $150 then the LG32GK650F is also a substantial step up in terms of size and resolution. Although response time isn't quite as good, it's still pretty good.

Mouse/Keyboard: The mouse/keyboard come down a lot to personal preference. If you have a Best Buy/Fry's/Microcenter near you, you may want to have your friend go down and try out some mice and keyboards for himself. Maybe he wants to go wireless, as well.

Cable: The monitor should come with a cable. I wouldn't waste money on a cable unless the included cable isn't good enough.

GPU: If you're trying to make an economical build you should just get a 5700 non-XT and then do a soft power table mod to unlock it to 5700 XT. There is basically no risk at all, and the end result will be almost as fast for $50 less.

thats a pretty badass bday present!

i have a genuine question tho, and not necessarily aimed at OP. Why do i see so many builds using the ryzen APU with a graphics card as well? is there a benefit to it? i understand builds that start with it and add a gpu later, but if you're buying it all at once would it not be better to grab a 2600 instead? (or a 1600 if its the R3 apu)

questions aside. congrats! im sure he'll remember building it fondly for the rest of his life.

edit: fair points all around! so if its the 2200 it makes perfect sense for best performance at price point. however if its a 2400 then you might as well have gotten a 2600 especially with them being 149 at walmart and amazon right now = https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B41WS48/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_yW0yCbK60C89B

Looks you have 4 options...

MSI X370 XPOWER GAMING TITANIUM - Most expensive. I'd probably pass on this one personally, too expensive for the features on offer.

ASUS Crosshair VI Hero - Second most expensive, but probably the best one out of the ones up for pre-order on Amazon. 12 phase power design, decent feature set.

MSI X370 GAMING PRO CARBON - Quite a bit cheaper. Seems like a fairly decent board. 10 phase power design, claims support for 3200MHz(OC) RAM. Pretty decent feature set.

ASUS Prime X370-Pro - Cheaper again, and again a 10 phase power design. Supports 2666MHz RAM, but may well OC higher. A fairly nice feature set as well.

There are a few B350s available as well, but I personally wouldn't go for one as they're a bit of an unknown right now in terms of OC capabilities.

Not sure where you are getting your information from, but that is the whole point of the X series SKUs. They are binned higher and feature XFR for auto-overclocking. The non-X SKUs are still unlocked multipliers but do NOT have the Extended Frequency Range auto-overclocking feature that the X SKUs DO.

Here's a few sources, including a couple that were in attendance at today's event.

https://www.kitguru.net/components/cpu/luke-hill/kitguru-amd-event-ryzen-7-cpus-set-to-hit-intel-pricing-hard/

"That ‘X’ prefix denotes support for eXtended Frequency Range (XFR) which allows a number of the CPU’s cores to operate at up to 1 multiplier bin higher if thermal and power threshold budgets are not saturated"

"Ryzen 7 1700 – 8 cores, 16 threads, 3.0GHz base speed, 3.7GHz boost speed, no XFR support, 65W TDP, $329 USD, £319.99 OCUK price."

Techreport, who was also in attendance at the event today and went home with review samples lists these specs as part of what was announced at the event.

https://techreport.com/news/31471/amd-eight-core-16-thread-chips-lead-the-ryzen-charge

Model | Cores | Threads | Base Clock | Boost Clock | XFR | TDP | Price
------|---|----|----|----|----|----|----
Ryzen 1800X | 8 | 16 | 3.6GHz | 4.0GHz | Yes | 95W | $499
Ryzen 1700X | 8 | 16 | 3.4GHz | 3.8GHz | Yes | 95W | $399
Ryzen 1700 | 8 | 16 | 3.0GHz | 3.7GHz | No | 65W | $329

"The X in the product name (in this and other models) denotes the presence of the XFR technology (eXtended Frequency Range), allowing you to reach even higher frequencies in the presence of adequate cooling. XFR is just one of the technologies SenseMI" -> translated from: https://www.tomshw.it/ryzen-7-1800x-1700x-e-1700-specifiche-e-prestazioni-83576 in regards to information released by AMD at today's event.

All of this is from those who attended and official AMD specs released today. There is no question about it, that is literally what the "X" in the SKU denotes. XFR. This is all just a matter of hours old information, not "last week". You mention you take what people who attended have to say as priority, which of course makes sense. Only problem is that it is the exact opposite of what you're saying.

Also, the pre-order listings on sites like Amazon make this clear. For instance,

1800X: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06W9JXK4G, clearly lists XFR on the product page

1700X: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06X3W9NGG, clearly lists XFR on the product page

1700: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06WP5YCX6, does not list XFR on the product page

On OCUK's product pages as well, XFR is listed as a spec on only the 1800X and 1700X product pages:

1800X: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/amd-ryzen-7-eight-core-1800x-4.00ghz-socket-am4-processor-retail-cp-39v-am.html

1700X: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/amd-ryzen-7-eight-core-1700x-3.80ghz-socket-am4-processor-retail-cp-39w-am.html

1700: https://www.overclockers.co.uk/amd-ryzen-7-eight-core-1700-3.70ghz-socket-am4-processor-retail-cp-39x-am.html

--> OCUK "'X' Version with automatic XFR overclocking"

I'm having a similar issue: max freq for the best core of my 3600x is only 4.325Mhz and all other cores are at 4.250Mhz max which is lower than the 4.400Mhz advertised. I tried to activate PBO but it didn't change anything.
Also worth noticing, the Vcore is around 1.437 which seems pretty high. Far more concerning, even with a great case (Silverstone RL06 pro, recommended by Gamers Nexus) and a Noctua NH-D15 SE-AM4 (premium cooler) CPU temperature can reach 55°C (minimum 35°C and ambient temp only 21°C) with just chrome and razer opened and nothing else. When stressing the CPU it stays constant at 70°C.
I hope there will be BIOS updates and AMD chipset updates because right now my conclusion is that this CPU runs hot and can't be overclocked because it has already been factory OC to extreme levels by AMD. I already regret buying a 3600x for sure, I should have bought a 3600 instead.
I wonder if these issues are due to the shit VRMs of my motherboard (msi x570).

Best RX 480's:

XFX GTR

MSI Gaming

Sapphire Nitro+

All those have 4gb variants at a cheaper price. Out of those cards no one is the best but the XFX has the best overclock. So pick the cheapest or whatever looks best to you.

Hope this helps!

EDIT: Spend another $100 and you can have a 144Hz FreeSync monitor. Something like a AOC 24inch

u/buki9 · 2 pointsr/Amd

Great! That's good to know. So if I won't OCing I would be good with that mobo, even for a 3900x.

Yeap, it doesn't look too wise haha. It's:

If you don't care to OC your memory (which you should, it makes a pretty big difference and is incredibly safe) as long as you get a 3200-3600 mhz kit with decent timings you'll be alright.

If you do want to tweak your memory in the future, there are plenty of sick deals on 16GB of memory right now.

This Crucial Ballistix kit contains Micron Rev E chips inside of it, and these overclock VERY easily to 3600-3800 cl18 depending on what your cpu can handle. Absolutely amazing sticks for the price, and I'd recommend you pick them up even if you don't tune your memory right now.

For a little extra you can pick up an even faster kit, this patriot viper steel 4133 kit. It contains Samsung b die chips, the most sought after for overclocking and should do much tighter timings than the Ballistix, and for $94 the value is great.

If/when you tune your memory expect anywhere from 15-20% boosts in 1% lows/average fps which improves the smoothness of your game a ton. Here's a great guide on how to do it when you're inclined.

QVL hasn't mattered in my experience.

I know my Radeon VII is NOT a Navi card.... however, my Radeon VII easily eats 300w of power (stated by the radeon control panel).... don't skimp with power supplies. get a large size, look for SALES that pc nose picker doesn't show.... I got an 850 platinum on amazon for 99.99 on sale.... normally sells for almost 200.... just look for good deals.

also, for a small fee of 10 dollars more, you can get a 2600 from amazon.... which will be BETTER than the 2400g and last a few years too. the 2600 is also 6 core 12 thread instead of 4 core 8 thread.... you ARE buying a navi gpu, no reason to NOT spend 10 dollars more for the 2600.....

IF you have a microcenter near you, get the inland 1tb nvme ssd, its better than the crucial 1tb nvme ssd and the same price.

that case is horrible for air flow.... everything is gonna run hot....

https://www.amazon.com/Ballistix-Sport-PC4-24000-288-Pin-Memory/dp/B07MGPH9R9/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=ddr4+16gb&qid=1564354412&s=gateway&sr=8-1-spons&psc=1

this memory is CHEAPER than your two chips.... each of your chips is 8gb for 40 bucks... 80 total. this deal, not only do you get 2 8gb chips, but its only 67 bucks... AND its DDR4 3000..... which will make your cpu run better in games and apps

pc nose picker is great for getting a generic read on what to buy, but they don't always have the best deals listed..... always shop around manually....

u/bobzdar · 2 pointsr/Amd

For sub $200, I feel pretty confident you won't do better than this:

https://www.amazon.com/ROG-Crosshair-VI-Hero-Motherboard/dp/B06W2L6GBX/

And it has all of the fun precision boost overdrive, voltage offsets etc. fun you could want. It even has presets, you can run performance enhancer if you've got good cooling and it will set precision boost overdrive settings for you. That's going to be the lowest touch for maximum performance, plop the chip in, set performance enhancer to level 3 and go. If you have a really good chip and cooling, set it to level 4 and offset votage to -.075 and you should get very nearly max of what your chip can do.

A third party seller with a Prime Agreement (Prime Seller) can supply Amazon with product, and it is then sold under the Amazon Prime label. While Amazon does hold product, it doesn't always mean that Amazon is the "owner" of the Product.

At times you will find Company X Limited (not going to mention any companies, but think reputable large companies) are the *actual* seller - but unless there's more than one supplier to Amazon for a given Product, the option to view the actual suppliers isn't available.

However, in this instance, the actual provider is Amazon - which is a touch depressing, given that it's nearly 50GBP more than the other suppliers, and Amazon doesn't actually have the product in stock either.

In this case the *actual* supplier can be viewed by selecting another Ryzen 3000 SKU such as the Ryzen 5 3600, and then on the page for other offers, change back to the Ryzen 9 3900X - see below:

See: https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/offer-listing/B07SXMZLP9/ref=olp_twister_child?ie=UTF8&mv_size_name=6&mv_style_name=0

Maybe Amazon is sourcing the R9 3900X from places like Silicon Lottery who sell for higher prices after pre-selection - and as a result the product is more expensive; though sadly I fear that Amazon might just be profiteering in this case, on the fact that the R9 3900X is heavily in demand with supply being limited from Amazon.

Also, the product is on an "Expedited Delivery" setting, which normally means that Amazon has purchased (or ordered) from a third-party supplier, and will normally get the third-party to ship directly to the customer (albeit in Amazon branded packaging where possible). It saves getting the product to Amazon's warehouses, and then out to the customer. From my experience this happens when Amazon is having trouble getting an item and meeting demand for the item, they will almost outsource the shipping to a vendor who apparently has or has access to the product in question.

Reminds me of the mining crisis for a few years back, when GPUs were not only impossible to find, but inflated in their pricing due to a lack of product and high demand.

Just my thoughts on this matter. But yeah, disappointing action by Amazon. Not what I expected, and sadly it might be that they are exploiting their essential monopoly on online purchasing. (Yes I know there are other suppliers - I myself used the other suppliers, but Amazon normally have the most compelling deals for almost anything!).

Ideally people should not buy from Amazon at this inflated price, and instead pre-order from other vendors so as to let Amazon know that this type of activity is not acceptable. However, this is the nature of a free market economy. Supply and demand govern price. Sad and I'm not a fan of it, but it is what it is.

Peace :)

Edit: Also, on Amazon when third-party vendors sell their product, there are fees - different fees for Prime verified/approved sellers and different for those not Prime - you can see with the R5 3600 the price from Amazon Prime is the best at 199.99 - prices from the other vendors - CCL, Scan etc are much higher - however, on thier own websites the prices are far more sensible.

Okay now I'm done. Peace :)

if u wanne go cheap look op the AOC freesync monitors.
They offer great value for the money u spend
https://www.amazon.com/AOC-G2460PF-24-Inch-Gaming-Monitor/dp/B01BV1XBEI
200 bucks
24inc
INC freesync range 35-144hz
1ms
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rTPxUt5OhlU review
P.s they also have a 27 inc version ( but on 1080p i personally would not recomand it )
But here is the BIG thing.
This is great for FPS games.
If your main focus is anything but fps games.
Get an IPS 60-75 hz screen whit freesync ( better picture quality )
Might also be nice to look for a higher resolution

u/kaisersolo · 1 pointr/Amd

> n OC upto at least 3.8, while the 1600X can go max 4 (4.1 if you're lucky I guess). The cheaper FlareX is a scam, get anything rated at 3200 CL16 or better, it should run at at least 2933.
> Try to wait a couple of weeks before buying the GPU if you can. The fall in ethereum prices has at least resulted in increased GPU availability. Hopefully, prices will normalize soon. You should definitely be able to go for the RX 580 8GB then.

You could probably save on the cost of your OS just get a windows 10 pro key from a digital store from anything from $15-$45 dollars
or go here /r/microsoftsoftwareswap/ they also have them for sale for about $40.

That would save you $100.

Do Your self a favour and upgrade your monitor with the bigger model because 25" is to small .

model up

next gen model up

I have this resolution and its quality.

u/ThePowerOf0ne · 2 pointsr/Amd

That should work with the budget. I have mortar max instead of tomahawk max, which aren't much different but in size. I expect it to work pretty well for next 5 years. If you want/need new faster memory which ryzen loves, I would go with something like https://www.amazon.com/Ballistix-Sport-PC4-25600-288-Pin-Memory/dp/B07MNJP6RW

u/onelittleturtle · 6 pointsr/Amd

Guessing that you are in Europe so here's a RX580 8gb around 330.

The RX580 is a fantastic card and in combination with Freesync it will provide you with a wonderful 1080p experience. Being a RX580 user myself, I suggest undervolting and overclocking the card. It's really easy in Radeon Software and the free performance is totally worth it!

u/landoooo · 10 pointsr/Amd

I think SSDs are cheap enough now that for a 1tb you'd be better off getting something like this https://www.amazon.com/Silicon-Power-Performance-Internal-SP001TBSS3A55S25/dp/B07B4G19X3/ref=sr_1_6?keywords=1tb+ssd&qid=1559335102&s=electronics&sr=1-6-spell

About the same cost as your 2 drives together and 240GB less storage, but you'll enjoy fitting that many games on the SSD. Plus by the time you run out of space, you might have the cash to upgrade to an M.2 SSD

Edit: Also, I'd go for something like this for RAM

https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-3200MHz-Desktop-Memory/dp/B0143UM4TC/ref=sr_1_3?crid=2GS78Z9KL72RH&keywords=3200+mhz+ddr4&qid=1559335538&s=electronics&sprefix=3200%2Celectronics%2C165&sr=1-3

Ryzen likes fast RAM, and most people consider 3200Mhz to be the minimum to consider buying. Also priced similar to the kit you have listed.

u/iiTz_SteveO · 2 pointsr/Amd

I would personally recommend the Nixeus Vue 24. Best 1080 monitor I have ever purchased. I play "competitively" so having 144Hz is great! Plus it is FreeSync as well!

Any 3000/15cl 3200/16 cl ram...
It's not quad channel, but 4 ram sticks will work just fine.
Best option would be something like Ballistrix 3000/15 cl AES ones, like

I ordered these copper heatsinks https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00637X42A/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_t1fyDb8YAG6RD

Not pictured: I have a few aluminum ones on there now with Thermal Grizzly Minus 8 thermal pads, but they are too tall (14x14x8mm), they are getting replaced with the smaller copper ones on Monday.

Drilling... Yes. Yup. I did that. I barely enlarged the holes by say .2mm. Just a hair. I had a vacuum on while drilling, which I couldn't capture in the photo. I cleaned everything super well afterwards.

Idle is now 32C (GPU temp) with the card overclocked to 2160mhz, 1199mv, +90% power, and 910 MHz memory. Junction temp also idles at 32C.

Would I recommend doing this? Only if you are comfortable completely disassembling your expensive GPU, drilling out two holes on your card, and figuring everything out, including vram heatsinks.

I put a 2 fan to 1 fan adapter to my motherboard's AIO header, which is powering both of my pumps (CPU and GPU). Two pumps or fans should be ok on one header.

Attempt this at your own risk.

EDIT: CARD IS UNSTABLE DUE TO MEMORY TEMPS, ABANDONED IDEA

Samsung b-die @ 3200 with CAS 14 (at least) timing is the RAM you want.

Here is a better deal for the same price: https://www.amazon.com/G-SKILL-Flare-288-Pin-Memory-F4-3200C14D-16GFX/dp/B06XFT7DF9/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1536593608&sr=8-6&keywords=3200+C14

For the RGB fan: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820236442

Timing 14-14-14-34

Both of these are the same price or lower than what you have.

Here's one that is better and will save you QUITE a bit of money, but I'm not sure about their customer support with great timings 14-14-14-31 and is Samsung B-die: https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313712 or https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820313711

There are current BIOS issues that make it perform horribly above 3000MHz (Should be fixed soon), but my ram can do 3400MHz before destabilizing, but that's probably just my ram not being a very good overclocker (Hynix MFR can typically only hit ~3333/3400), I think if I had better ram (like these Micron E-Die modules or some B-Die modules), I could probably get 3733MHz (above that you can't get very good performance because of infinity fabric)

I strongly recommend the x470 Taichi, it is an excellent board, and with VRMs powerful enough to overclock a 3950x.

u/InfallibleTruths · 2 pointsr/Amd

the dude has 34 ratings as a seller...... his name may be "AMD Authorized Re-seller" but it does seem sketchy. only 34 reviews? I literally just canceled mine. While AMAZON sent me the email that its in stock, the fact that it isn't more reputable makes me say nope. I canceled as well.

EDIT: Also look at what the rating ares, they are GARBAGE. "I just started using the knife but it seems to work great" WHAT? what does that have to do with CPU's and technology.... the rest are just as laughable.

EDIT: note my motherboard i ordered is from amazon services inc, legit.

EDIT: https://www.amazon.com/AMD-Ryzen-3900X-24-Thread-Processor/dp/B07SXMZLP9/ref=sr_1_17?keywords=3900x&qid=1562620368&s=electronics&sr=1-17#customerReviews

If you're getting a 1080p Freesync monitor, then THIS is the one I recommend.

You can save a further $30 by getting the one with the "simple" stand, HERE.

I've used this monitor, and it is by far the best one for the price, and better than some monitors that are much more expensive.

u/dannyd1999 · 1 pointr/Amd

Well for $250 there's not many 1440p options to go for so your best bet is an ultrawide IPS if you can sacrifice the 144hz. https://www.amazon.com/LG-29UM68-P-29-Inch-21-UltraWide/dp/B01B9IDLAW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1474659083&sr=8-1&keywords=freesync+ips

People have reported being able to successfully overclock it to 75hz if you wish to do that. Seems like a nice monitor to me, I haven't seen it in person but judging by what they're saying the colours on it are great.

Stand looks a little bit flimsy to me though. I'd get a VESA mount.

u/Mista117 · 1 pointr/Amd

It's due to stock flow though, my go to retailers all sold out, amazon is one of the few left with any stock but probably due to the fact they can pull stock from their arse if need be with being completely global at this point.

Edit: they are actually now out of stock completely.

CCL out of stock

Overclockers out of stock

Scan out of stock

Amazon out of stock

Those are the big ones I usually go to, decent companies and good customer support and RMA policies for the most part, all out. Definitely a supply issue.

u/rimnii · 2 pointsr/Amd

I'm using this https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-3000MHz-Desktop-Memory/dp/B0134EW7G8 at XMP settings perfectly. This board has great memory support as of the most recent BIOS!

You can imagine where 2133 would be. Should be roughly the same difference between the 2666 and 3466 results.

Thanks, I think that's the next step I'm going to try. Do you think it's an issue with the RAM I've chosen (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0134EW7G8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1) or is just this specific kit dead on arrival? I feel like I've seen a ton of builds in my research using this kit.

If it truly is a compatibility issue, any RAM that you can recommend? Thanks again for your help.

u/AK-Brian · 2 pointsr/Amd

Single channel memory will hold you back, but the difference in practical use is less than some people would think. It's on the order of 10% or so except for certain games and software. Examples of outliers include Hitman 2 or Counterstrike: GO, 7-Zip compression software, etc. Those can see increases of +30-50% vs a single channel setup. An example of a less sensitive program is Cinebench, where you may see only a 1-5% difference.

That said, memory kits are pretty reasonably priced right now and you could jump to a 2x8GB DDR4-3000 kit for $66 if you're in the US. With the frequency increase and moving to dual channel mode, you'll see around a 15% difference on average in games and applications - noticeable.

Edit: Fixed memory kit link.

Check the QVL list for the motherboard, buy that. It's the safest bet, especially since the Taichi is a little finicky with RAM OC in my experience, and I believe Buildzoid has mentioned that as well.

On the other hand... my RAM isn't on the QVL list itself, and but is Samsung B-Die and works at 3200CL14 which is what it's rated at... very similar model # to what you have picked out from G.Skill. Just more aggressive timings (which isn't a huge deal at the price disparity)

https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820232205

For cooling an 1800X if you want to OC, I might recommend an even beefier cooler from Noctua honestly. At 4.0ghz with common voltages you put off a lot of heat.

https://www.amazon.com/Noctua-NH-D15-SE-AM4-Premium-Grade-Cooler/dp/B01NC06ZYT

Assuming your case can handle the airflow. My original Phanteks P400S was NOT up to the task of removing the heat, even with 2x 140mm intakes fans and 1x 120mm outlet + 1x 140mm overhead outlet.

[This website] (https://www.amd.com/system/files/2017-06/am4-motherboard-memory-support-list-en_0.pdf) has a good AM4 compatibility list and the RAM you listed's part number doesn't apply. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean it won't work or will be incompatible, if you've already purchased it, see if it'll function at 3200Mhz, otherwise you can always return and buy a better pair.

Although something I've noticed is, [My RAM] (https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-3200MHz-Desktop-Memory/dp/B0143UM4TC) is on that same list yet I couldn't go past 2666Mhz, but more than likely, it was down to my motherboard (Gigabyte AB350-Gaming-3) just simply not liking it, I will be getting an X470 board on Friday though (Fatal1ty X470 Gaming K4) so hopefully I will finally go to full speed.

I hope this helps, sorry it's a bit of a tangent. :)

Quick edit: If your memory is not listed in QVL, it just means it hasn't been tested for whatever reason. It most likely will just work, but it's not guaranteed to work.

u/Mojodrago · 2 pointsr/Amd

Unfortunately I can't speak German but here is a good set of RAM.

You want at least 3200mhz and CL16.

Be sure that your motherboard can support 3200mhz RAM

Great Choice. But hard to justify the $90.

Would be interested in developing a performance cost model to figure out how much cooling solution brings how much value over life time.

That's good to know. I was basing my opinion off of a few reddit posts and LinusTechTip's video on the LG 29''. He felt like it wasn't quite large enough.

I feel like if I can get an LG 29" (preferably this one) on sale at Black Friday or sooner, then that will make my decision.

Thanks for your comment, it helped a lot. I haven't talked to anyone who actually uses the card I have with the monitor (or a similar one) that I'm looking at.

Hey, I just received the AOC G2460PF from Amazon literally two days ago and it is absolutely amazing. It's also FreeSync at the same price(on sale), 144Hz 24" 1ms.

You wouldn't believe how much better games look on a 24" monitor if your previous monitor was <24". It's like a resolution upgrade without the performance drawbacks, it blew me away, I didn't even know that was a thing with bigger monitors. I just thought 1080p was 1080p, y'know?

It doesn't say so, but it does come with proper DisplayPort and HDMI cords, also some other display cord.

FreeSync is only supposed to work with AMD cards, but... I haven't noticed any screen tearing at all with VSync off on my GTX 970(multiple games that hit 144). Either FreeSync is working or the monitor is just that good.

u/SE_Apocalypse · 3 pointsr/Amd

95° is nothing to worry about on a 290x, though throttling indeed starts at that point. PUBG is a piece of shit, so I would not be concerned about AMD performance on that nvidia game either.

But the sound of the fan makes me think your fans are in for a replacement, which is annoying. Card is most likely out of warranty as well. Undervolting, accepting the throttling for a while and waiting for vega sounds still like the best option. Your 290x should not throttle hard enough to make it a real problem.

You could try to ask gigabyte if they can send you an replacment cooler kit for your card or try a cheaper air cooler set for your 290x.

Arctic Accelero IV for example is just $50 and is actually slightly better than most 3rd party 290 coolers. Was the way to go when the 290x still had only reference design cards on the market and is cheap enough. Still, redoing the VRam pads might do the trick too, hard to tell.

>Don't sweat your voltage if on stock.

Help me understand this one. When Ryzen was coming out, I know a lot of people were worried about stock voltages. Is this turning out to be a non-issue?

One more thing... know anything about RAM voltage and what's considered safe for that? (This will be my kit). I'm going to try to OC to the best and tighten the timings.

u/groot4lyfe · 1 pointr/Amd

ShopBLT is legit, but note the fine print:

>This item is ordered from the manufacturer as needed. After you place your order, we will order it from the manufacturer. When it arrives into our warehouse, usually within 15 business days, we will fill your order and ship it to you.

That's also the tray SKU. You probably want the retail boxed version. However, those shipments are not expected to begin arriving to ShopBLT's warehouses until at least the end of the month.

If you want to get a 3800X before then, your best bet is to set up a notification alert on Now In Stock. However, be aware that NIS appears to be linking to the wrong Amazon product page. This is the correct one.

Alternatively, you can just buy a 3700X right now with Prime two-day shipping. It's actually so similar to the 3800X that the price premium for the latter is not easy to justify.

u/4ssyr · 2 pointsr/Amd

It'll run completely fine but won't overclock.

Fast memory bandwidth is highly beneficial for Ryzen. I'd advise going for a 3200 CL14 B-Die kit like this: https://www.amazon.co.uk/G-SKILL-F4-3200C14D-16GFX-PC4-25600-Channel-Memory/dp/B06XFT7DF9

u/Msuix · 1 pointr/Amd
Personally I'm just waiting on an X370 motherboard and R7 1800X CPU. Currently have a RX480 (provided in list anyway) as a tie over until Vega. Also preordered the AM4 mounting kit for the NH-D15. Alternatively, you can preorder the special edition AM4 model, but I prefer the versatility of all sockets. The 1300w PSU is way overkill, but I wanted to leave myself the possiblity of a second vega years down the line to scale perf when mgpu and DX12 become more mainstream. I was also creating the possibility of water cooling. Either way, its got a 10yr warranty so should be good all the way until the tech doesn't matter anymore. Bought these all over the last week or so :)

It looks like this BIOS improved compatability with the Corsair Vengeance LPX CMK16GX4M2B3000C15, the current best selling RAM on Amazon, particularly the Hynix die version, 5.30. Choosing the automatic D.O.C.P profile now boots it properly at 2933 MHz.

The odd issue with CAS latency setting itself to 16 remains, however. I had success changing my timings to 14-16-16-31 which also increased performance, though mileage will definitely vary here, silicon lottery etc.

u/looncraz · 1 pointr/Amd

An RX 560 with FreeSync will feel faster than a 1050ti without GSync. The smoothness can be quite enchanting.

The thing to look for, though, is the minimum FreeSync rate on the monitor. It needs to be around 30Hz. 45Hz is cutting it too close as you have to maintain between 45Hz and 75Hz to not experience tearing.

I don't see where you posted which monitor it was, but if it's this one it only has a range from 47Hz to 75Hz. That's REALLY narrow.

You'd be better served putting more money into the monitor than the video card - you will likely keep the monitor longer, anyway.

This is my monitor. $205 right now, 30Hz-146Hz (using the driver) and good color (once it breaks in - something most people don't even know monitors need to do).

u/vt35wn · 1 pointr/Amd

I was thinking, and since AMD is the manufacturer and shipping person on the Amazon website:

This would probably mean that Amazon is going to be selling directly from AMD's own stockpile? I'm pretty sure this is what it means.

You're lucky I just spent my day researching this as I plan to do it. Get the twin turbo III. Then I'm buying ram heat sinks off of Amazon and buying the vrm heat sinks from the hybrid 120 III off arctic cooling's page. From what I'm reading the vrms get fairly hot 91 celcius with just the backplate heatsink which is why I'm installing extra on the front. Also make sure there is enough clearance on your board, front fan = 53 mm, rear heatsink = 23mm.

That being said my comp needs a primary card to recognize the Rx 480 for some reason, so personally the heat sink from my quadro nvs 295 at 18mm will just touch the twin turbo rear heatsink who knows maybe that will dissipate vrm heat further. When I get home I'll link you the vram and vrm/fet heatsinks.

Stock bios had mine at 1000 mv. I upped mine to 1050. The timings helped a lot. Also my cooling is pretty top notch. I'm using these heat sinks, this thermal paste and this cooler. I removed the thermal pads that come on the heat sinks and I'm using the thermal grizzly for the ram heat sinks and the GPU its self. Not to mention that cooler comes with a huge back plate for additional dissipation.

If you can add some money, buy this monitor instead which has FreeSync and is 144Hz.

Otherwise, if you can't spend 50$ more, check out this and this.

Don't buy a non-freesync monitor.

As for the 480, no it won't overheat, the node202 has a big grill right where the fan is, so it can take as much air as it wants. MOreover, since it's a blower style card, the volume of the case doesn't affect the cooling (cold air is taken by the fan and hot air is spit right out of the case through the rear. Hot air doesn't remain in the case)

Good for the rest ;)

I found an XFX RX 580 8gb that might fit is this a good version: https://www.amazon.co.uk/XFX-Radeon-GDDR5-DVI-D-Graphics/dp/B06Y66K3XD

It's only £4 more then the Gigabyte version and comes with free shipping since I'd have to pay for shipping if I'd get it from Scan.

Shows as $79.99 on prime right now (pretty sure I paid $114 last July when I built my 2400g machine). Had the ram at 3200 MHz since thing (work from home this is my PC for that most days) and haven't had a problem. Pretty good deal for 16 gigs that will reliably run at 3200 MHz!

Powerful build for gaming, i would go for different ram though, i have had issues with corsair vengeance ram with Ryzen. I would look for something with cl14 if i were you, something like this. https://www.amazon.co.uk/G-SKILL-F4-3200C14D-16GFX-PC4-25600-Channel-Memory/dp/B06XFT7DF9

Would this be better? I’ve built a few machines but I’m not an overclocker. This kind of specific hardware is over my head.

I would, it's been proven that the B-die usually CL14 or CL15 is the best for Ryzen systems. There are tools out there to find B-die RAM, that or just go for these.

I'd recommend getting this ram instead: Crucial Ballistix Sport LT 3200 MHz DDR4 DRAM Desktop Gaming Memory Kit 32GB (16GBx2) CL16 BLS2K16G4D32AESB (Gray) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07MR1HWXT/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_NiTrDbGMRG65R

It's slightly cheaper and is micron rev E so it's pretty overclockable in case you're interested in that.

You can probaly buy em cheaper elsewhere.they have a very strong thermal tape on them just put them over the vrm.one covers two vrm inthink. They also sell the low profile ones for the vram. I don't recommend thermal paste as it's a permanent solution and you would want to remove it if you wanted to sell card.

while that person did try to help, he is a bit out of touch with ssd prices..

sata ssds haven't gone down in pricing in a meaningful way for the past year, they are still around ~110$ for 1tb and samsung likes to charge their tax on top of that too..

instead, you can get nvme ssds such as this or this for the same price..

their performance and warranty is equivalent to a samsung 970 evo, if not better.. and are miles faster than a sata ssd...

RAM: while the one you picked is 3600mhz, it's running at cl18 the memory latency will be same versus a kit running at 3200/cl16 or 3000/cl15.

get these crucial ballistix sticks instead, you can overclock them way beyond their rated speeds (Search for E-Die overclocking on the web to see approximate results) make sure they have "AES" in the model name and you're 100% guaranteed to have E-Die sticks.

CPU Cooler: while noctua is great and all , i personally think the NH-U12S is a waste of money at that price point, just use the stock cooler that comes with your ryzen cpu for a while and save those 70$ towards a noctua nh-u12a or a Noctua NH-D15 (Comes in black variant too now).

Motherboard: can't really recommend one , but instead i urge you to to look at this am4 motherboard list here they all have their own pros and cons, nothing is perfect :^)

I'm not your personal google. You can find them yourself if you spend half a minute looking. But you know what, since you asked so nice and all, I'll get you started.

https://www.kikatek.com/advanced_search_result.php?keywords=Ryzen

At this point there have been 12 listings I'm aware of posted. Of those, all but a few have since been pulled from the listings by the resellers since they're not released yet, but they were viewed by hundreds of us before being pulled, and I saw several of those listings myself (The kikatek listing above, Lambdatek, ShopBLT, etc)., and in all cases the screenshots posted accurately reflect what the pricing was before being pulled.

Don't believe that?

Ok. you're right, you got us. The entire AMD subreddit is colluding to fuck with you. haha! Good jokez! :D

Get a Ryzen system...you dont need a new Ryzen 3000 system you can get a 2600 and board for decent prices and still have leagues better performance than what you've got currently.

Ryzen 5 2600 119 euros https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07B41WS48/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_qEftDbHJ2VQWP

MSI b450 Tomahawk 89 euros https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B07FQ9ZJD9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_qGftDbK43T99A

Both of those together are cheaper than your cheapest choices(214 euros for the gigabyte and 8350) so you should have some room for some RAM which you'll need to upgrade too.

Patriot Viper 16gb kit 69 euros https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0157UQ5A6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_4JftDbB2T3X0H

All of this bring your total to 277 euros which is only 6 euros more expensive than your other option of the asrock and the 8350.

I think it's time for the big upgrade ;)

So for anyone wondering, I bought the AOC G2460PF. I got it due to it having speakers built in, a USB hub, and a headphone jack on it. It also uses DP which I found nice since some of the other monitors I looked at didn't even have DP and justr used dual link DVI, and seeing as how I have a reference RX 480 there is no DVI, just 3 HDMI and 1 DP. Thanks everyone!

u/mx5klein · 2 pointsr/Amd

You could get away with one for a while but the 3700x will last longer with more cores. I like the PSU choice but that memory is way overpriced for what it is - https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-3200MHz-Desktop-Memory/dp/B0143UM4TC

$210 for a 144hz and $130 for a 75hz (at 144hz-30hz and 75hz-47hz range respectively), but I'd highly recommend getting an IPS panel for media over a freesync panel of the same price.

this is exactly what I have
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0134EW7G8/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o04_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

how much performance am I leaving on the table just leaving it at 2133mhz ?

I ask because turning xmp on which (I think) is an auto overclock type thing makes the system unable to boot. The owners manual is not very clear on a lot of things. They number the ram slots weird and instruct you to install the sticks in the incorrect slots. I also cannot seem to locate a pin for the fancy cpu fan lighting. Nothing on the board matches the cable coming out of it.

oh and I have the newest bios for it (F7)

thanks for your response btw

you see, the car CAN be red it just currently ISN'T, what a pathetic argument lol. as I said, you didn't understand the analogy AT ALL ...

I didn't ask for examples? I mean how you be so very stupid to write such bullshit when all you had to do is scroll up and read again, but hey laziness always trumps correctness:

>besides, what performance does AMD advertise on their box because you said you buy performance not clock speed...

See, so easy, took me 10 seconds.

Where are the performance metrics used to advertise this product?
Why can't I find any performance metrics for this product but clock speeds on every single page?

Them being out of stock instantly does very much mean they flew of the shelves because they are not on the shelves anymore lol. Holy fuuuck.

Do you not know how to read that chart you linked? Released October 2011 and market share actually went up Q4 2011.
Q3 26.60% -> Q4 27.80%
Same shit happened one year later, where AMD was rocking the higher buzzword number (frequency/core) again.

Really dude you are way out of your league here.
