Sure! I'll go over the materials I use first, and then do my best to describe how I use them. Here's where I buy my wood panels/canvases from. I pick these up in store since there's one close to where I work. If you're not familiar with this store, it's great! Most of the time they have what I need. Michaels has them too. These are my favorite markers to use because of the quality of the paint. The colors run brighter and thicker in comparison to other brands. You can buy these from the other stores listed above, but you might be able to find a better deal on Amazon. These specific markers are a bit pricey. Sharpies are also a good option. These will be cheaper and are now available at Target. I think they carry wood panels/canvas in store as well. The Molotow markers are acrylic based, where the
Sharpies are either oil or water based. Paint markers can get tricky. They require lots of shaking and dabbing depending on the brand, color, and surface you're working on. I would buy a pack of oil based sharpie paint markers and a sketch book with thick paper to get started. Just have fun! I love making shapes with light colors and outlining them in black for contrast.
I forgot to mention in the title that I used spray paint for the background. The brand I use primarily is Montana because it's great quality and it's easier to find nowadays. Ironlak is also great to use, but it might be harder to find depending on where you are. You can use your classic Krylon or Rustoleum cans too, but it also depends what you're trying to achieve in your piece. You can have a lot more fun with Montana or Ironlak paint because of the wide range of colors and the variety of different caps/tips/spray nozzles or whatever you wanna call them. For this piece in particular, I used spray paint first for the entire background, waited for it to dry, then applied my paint markers. If you're going to use paint markers directly on top of spray paint, wait for the spray paint to dry completely. I only did a few quick sprays, just barely pressing down on the cap to avoid any paint from dripping. A lot of it is trial and error. I just experimented and found what worked for me.
