If you are ok with going an inch smaller, for music production i would suggest you get this portable Acer Aspire R 14 Convertible. based on its specs it should be fully capable for music production. it comes with a nice Intel Core i5-6200U Processor 2.3GHz, a great 14" Full HD Touchscreen, Intel HD Graphics 520, 8GB LPDDR3 Memory, and a super fast 256GB SSD for fast boot up and program launches. it also has a decent built which should see it last at least 3-4 years. its battery life is also remarkable with up to 9 hours.
Another laptop closer to the budget limit at around 380 is the Acer ES1..
Overkill HDD space and more than enough RAM for her to write whatever she pleases. Also a nice processor and 8 hours of batterylife. It is 4 pounds, which is a pretty decent weight.
