I replaced the bedside tv with an iPad mounted to the wall. You can lock it into Netflix so he can choose his own shows and feel a bit empowered. The screen is not huge but the remotes were confusing him. I made his list on Netflix his favorite shows so he can just touch the one he wants. I still have to help sometimes but it's not completely frustrating for him.

I got a freedom alert it's like a medic alert button but it first calls 4 programmed numbers before 911. I also purchased a few additional buttons as well. I put these buttons around the house in places he sits etc. he uses it to alert me that he needs something (a drink etc) or if he is confused. This allows me to do chores around the house without having to stop and check on him every few mins. I hear the system get a dial tone and begin dialing and generally am able to turn it off long before it ever makes a call.

I got him this pill dispenser back when he was able to concentrate well enough to dependably take his meds. I now give him his pills twice a day but the dispenser is still very helpful in ensuring I don't forget! It's very nice only having to get the bottles out every two weeks as well.

These help me to be a better caregiver by removing some of the stress. I also have the usual bed alarms etc.

Have you set up alarms? Not only for bathroom breaks, but also for taking pills, and meals. A regular schedule will help her, has much as it will help you.

As for saving your poor couch and bed Washable Underpads are your friend. Have one of them under her at all times. When she wets herself, you can toss it in the wash with her other soiled clothes. They also make disposables

You can also consider something like this: https://www.amazon.com/Simple-Music-Player-Alzheimers-dementia/dp/B01B9THLUW it's the most simple music player out there and specifically designed with very few buttons to minimize confusion. Load it with mp3s and open the flap to play and close it to stop. The button on it is used to skip to the next song. I personally hate how it does not have a go back to the previous song button, but it will do its job of playing music or any other audio you put onto it. I've seen it used in nursing homes and retirement homes all the time and is great for anyone with dementia, alzheimer's or any other cognitive deficits.

Here's one more option. Amazon has a variety of cell phone lanyards. Instead of locating the phone after you've misplaced it, this might help to prevent losing it in the first place. Good luck.

Theres also no rinse soaps and shampoos https://www.amazon.com/No-Rinse-Body-Bath-Refreshed-Odor-Free/dp/B000093I60
My mom had some and she used them sometimes on my dad and grandma, but I don't know for how many consecutive days and I dont know what the guidance is for them. She eventually did get them into the shower.

Just putting it out there as an option while you figure out what tricks will work to get her into a real washing. :)

I bought my dad this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CRM84W8/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o09_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

It tells him if it's morning, afternoon, evening, etc. plus the day and date. It's even customizable for different languages.

I know this is an older post but my father recently dealt with this challenge. What he did was have a cyclone fence installed with gates and then put a clip through the gate. My mother can't figure out how to get past the clip. This makes it so that she can have the run of the house/yard but not get out into the street.

This is the clip:

Obviously, this only works if the person is at the stage where they can't figure out the clip consistently.
