Maybe you can install one of these cameras somewhere. They are very cheap and easily hidden, have decent video quality, and excellent audio pickup.

I have been thinking about doing something like this but wanted to have it in a necklace type of way. Also thought cap/hat, or somehow modifying one to a jabra headset that I had. I've seen some cameras that actually look like a tiny little camera that is a necklace. But I like the cap thing you mentioned, especially for my dad, as he was harassed/cuffed for absolutely no reason last year.

And I had bought that same keychain camera last week, it should be in next week or so. Thx for the post. I think everyone should get something like this.

edit**something like this, except this one has bad reviews... http://www.amazon.com/Smallest-Camera-Camcorder-Video-Hidden/dp/B009TQ4L5Q/ref=pd_sim_p_7

I use the Falcon Zero F360.

  • It allows me to record both in front of the car and inside the car.
  • I can turn one of the cameras to face the driver side window if needed
  • Mounts to the rear view mirror

I also use another dash camera for the back as well to record behind the car.

"[Your First & Last Name]: Dashcam Hero Contestant”

I'm already disqualified.
Seriously thought this is more about publicity for themselves, which I think is fine.

I also already have a dash cam and a lot of other fancy over priced garbage the government invested on and bestowed me with when they still believed I was going to be an up and coming asset. Oh how wrong they were...

Not an auditor here but I use the olight x7r marauder flashlight and it’s a mini sun:

For a while I used an older Android phone as a dashcam and just recently bought the Gear Pro. Below are some alternatives:

This is the one I've had for almost 2 years now. There are some pics and videos in the description. It's the only one I've ever had so I don't know how it compares to others. It has never let me down though, it lets you know that it's recording every time you start your car. https://www.amazon.com/Goluk-T2-G-sensor-Detection-Recording/dp/B01KX35KB2

That's why I'm getting a 3rd camera. Something like this to record any possible cop interactions. Front/rear/360 dash I can easily move, start recording on your phone and put it anywhere if for no other reason than audio.

Ridiculous the measures we have to protect ourselves from.

Listen to the bullshit in his voice when the guy is being totally compliant. Doesn't shock me at all anymore.

I haven't done it yet, but I am planning to hardwire a Mobius into my car. Apparently it's relatively simple, just run the power under your headliner and door frame panel, and use add-a-fuse to connect it to a fuse that only gets power when the ignition is on. That way you can set it and forget it, so to speak, and it is always recording while the car is running.

As soon as the camera guy said he was going to 'stand up for his rights' you can see something click in the officers head and then the abuse of his authority starts ramping up. Looked like the cop took that as a challenge and responded with "this is what your precious Rights are worth" then proceeded to illegally detain him and take his property and stash it inside his cop car so it couldn't record conversations happening outside the vehicle.

ANOTHER example of why these auditors need to buy themselves a simple Audio recorder, especially ones that allow an external microphone to be attached.

I have a couple of these recorders (earlier model but same exact design as these) so I can grab one and take it with me whenever I leave the house. Also keep one in the car. They can record for an entire day before running out of power.

You can stash one in a deep 'hidden' pocket with an external mic clipped outside of your clothing. So if they merely detain you they won't find it with a cursory patdown and it will still record everything even if they steal your main camera.

Even if they find it after arrest and delete the recording it's a simple on board solid state memory chip so the info is still there to recover pretty easily so long as they don't record over the data... which is unlikely as they would need to leave it running for an entire day to do so.

I wonder what they'll do when someone uses an infrared flashlight to blind their cameras....

u/nspectre · 1 pointr/AmIFreeToGo

My head-mount worklight has that function.

It has Bright, Dim and Flash. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I can easily see the flashing mode being useful for signaling your position from a distance, like spotting bicyclists or someone on the ground from the air (locator beacon) but for illumination purposes it's useless. And for disorientation and compliance, that's largely nonsense.

I suspect it was primarily an engineering design decision by whomever designed the circuitry necessary for driving LED arrays. If you're designing a power IC (Integrated Circuit) to control High/Low/Off power output, why not just throw a sort of flip-flop circuit in there for funsies? It doesn't cost anything more and, like you said, it gives Marketing something to tout.

These days, you'll probably be hard pressed to find an off-the-shelf control chip that doesn't have a "Beacon Mode".

All you Califronians who are butt hurt by the accurate jab at your state should chip in and buy NNH a copy of the book in the link below. https://www.amazon.com/Everything-Texans-About-Other-States/dp/0972303405

I can personally speak for this device. I purchased it a long time ago and I returned it the next day. First of all, it's got a red blinking light in the front. Second, it's larger than a standard bluetooth, and the lens is obvious. Some of them require your android phone for its storage, with its bluetooth abilities draining the battery even more. It is not meant for covert recording. Covert recording is illegal in some states, and so manufactures are less willing to supply the public with these devices.

However, not to be outdone, I went to making my own covert recording device. I purchased many different types of cameras that you can wear on your body, even button-hole cameras. Nothing worked (AND was covert). Wasted a lot of money on shipping. And in the end, I finally came up with an inexpensive idea that works better than any device I found for sale. Plus, I got to make it...which is just more fun.

I purchased this black hat, and one of these cheap, car alarm keychain cameras and this strap of elastic. I then sewed (with a heavy duty needle) the elastic band to the underside of my hat bill. Get it perfectly centered the best you can, try to keep it toward the back of the bill obviously, and just large enough for the device to sit snug inside. Now I can activate the camera and slide it into the elastic band. It is small enough, and matching color, that it's not easily seen. It's not completely invisible, but I'd say its visibility has gone down 90% conservatively. You MIGHT see a lump, but you would never know that it's a camera. But with that device, I can record for 2 hours on an 8GB card. Charges via USB, and its low light ability isn't really all that bad (not for $10 anyway). Plus, it takes pictures.

And since it's on my hat bill, it sees what I see. You just have to get used to wearing and point it accurately at the target.

All this for about $20, and since the parts are so cheap, if it's stolen by some corrupt cop, I can get another one easily. I don't have to worry about them smashing my $600 camera, or stealing my phone that I really need.

The downside is if they find and take the camera, there's no way to get the video back unless they give it back to me. No internet file backup abilities.

Hope this helps,
Dallas
