I've heard somewhere that a crate is safer, but I've got no idea why. We use a crate which we've secured with the seatbelt running through it. He's very calm during rides and being left in the car alone.

You may be interested in Animals Make Us Human by Temple Grandin. She is an animal behaviorist who works to make slaughter houses and mass agriculture more humane. The book also talks about animal behavior, why they do what they do and signs of distress. It covers pets as well as agriculture and there is a chapter on zoos.
If you want to try going meatless for a few days a week, but don't know where to start, you could try one of the meal shipment services and try their vegetarian boxes. I have been a vegetarian since I was a teenager. I have a lot of great recipes but was getting bored with them so I started getting boxes to try something new. While some miss the mark, a lot of them are really good!
Also, an easy way to cut meat out for just one day a week... tacos! Just get Boca or morning star crumbles and season them as you would ground beef. Done.

My cat used to drink out of my water cups all the time, even though I had a bowl out for her. She eventually got a urinary stone, which was the result of both feeding her too much meat (changes the pH of her urine) and not drinking enough water. I changed her diet, but also got her a waterfall bowl. Cat's really prefer running water, which from an evolutionary standpoint would be safer to drink than stagnant, still water. Once I put out the waterfall bowl she took to it instantly, and stopped drinking out of my cups. Even putting medical conditions aside, it's just a nice treat for your pet! Thought you might find this info useful.
I believe it was this one but it doesn't seem to be available anymore. It gets so much fur out! Photo does not actually show that much, I've literally brushed another cat out of her before. I have both a silicone brush and a wire brush as for some reason, the silicone brush does her front half better and the wire brush does her back half better!
Get you some "perfect push-ups" or generic versions. I got a pair for $5 from Ross Dress for Less. The swivel action is much more comfortable for me than using dumbbells or the static handles.

Looks like a shiatsu massager. I have this one, can massage for 5 hours w/o heat or 2 hours w/ heat on a single charge. I use mine all the time, does a great job, works on back/neck/shoulders/legs/arms/feet. You can get cheaper versions that do the same thing if you don't mind dragging a cord around.

I know that's not real wood, but I would not recommend using a mop like that, especially on real wood. Those mops are fine for tile and vinyl but they will destroy wood and can cause damage to your subflooring with fake wood laminate.
I would recommend a mop like this and make sure to wring the cloth out until it is not dripping water, just damp. For the cleaning solution I would recommend you either buy woodwise or bona cleaner or use my go to, 1 gallon of hot water with about a cup of distilled white vinegar.
Who ever is downvoting me, I'd like to let you know, flooring is literally my job and 50% of the time I see warped and water damaged floors, it's from using frilly mops. The other 50% is dishwasher/ fridge/ toilet leaks.

Maybe you can figure out what i did wrong!! haha. i'm genuinely sad it didn't work out. seemed like a great idea for him cuz we go in 2+ hour car trips and he gets buckled in, plus we live in a shoebox apartment so he's leash trained so he can explore outside.
You could try a baby gate with a pet door. It helps keep kids contained while letting pets come and go as they please. I did end up using a zip tie around the pet door to keep it from opening too wide as toddlers try to follow the kitties through the little door.
