Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai! (Anime series) - Trailer - the first season fits what you're asking for, but the second season doesn't really go anywhere. I still liked it though, it was fun romcom slice of life.

Honestly, I don't agree with a lot of the suggestions here. Cowboy bebop is pretty adult for example, there's lots of violence and I think the plot would go over a kids head. I like the other suggestions like Dragon Ball Z and yu yu hakusho

Jungle Book This is a really old anime originally called Shounen Mowgli. Got a dvd release recently. I think it's a really cute show for young boys.

And if anyone in Bluray Region B is as interested in buying it on Bluray as I was.
Amazon's copy is for A & B, even though it only lists A.

As others have said the english dub is very much considered to be on par with the japanese acting.

I posted this in r/anime, but it was downvoted so I brought it here. This is basically a recommendation thread anyway.

Oh, and I really need to watch Patlabor. I'm a huge mecha fan, and it's been on my backlog for awhile now. I may end up picking up the Blu-ray soon.

The cheapest complete series I highly recommend watching is Samurai Champloo. For ~$25, it's a relatively good deal.

I don't have an opinion myself, but several other people do over in the reviews section on Amazon. It really boils down to whether or not you're okay with a bare-bones dub-only version, or if you're interest in subtitles and extras, so YMMV.

Ok so I am on amazon right now trying to buy GITS on blu-ray, is this the version i should buy? because i can't tell if it has the original hand-drawn.

I'd recommend Ghost Hunt and Shikabane Hime (Corpse Princess) if you're planning on buying S.A.V.E. editions.

Ghost Hunt - Amazon MAL

Corpse Princess - Amazon MAL

There are also other great series, such as Welcome to the N.H.K., but I've decided to list the two that I own and recommend.

Almost forgot about My Bride is a Mermaid - Amazon MAL

If you liked the movie, you should check out the light novel. It goes into greater detail of what happened with the secondary characters during the movie's events.

I strongly recommend reading the novel.

Yes it does. Did you even look?

It's out of print now, but used copies aren't insanely expensive.
