  • Regulator-$60

  • 24 oz paintball tank-$23

  • Paintball to CGA-320 adapter-$10

  • Airline tubing-$7

  • Diffuser-$12

Total for everything is $112 not including tax.

I use this regulator and the needle valve is a bit touchy, but its solid and works well enough. The solenoid has never stuck either. You can set it and forget it.

People are going to call out using airline tube vs CO2 proof tubing. CO2 proof tubing is completely unnecessary at the pressures what we work at and isn't very flexible, so I like the airline better.

This is my favorite diffuser because it has a halfway decent check valve, it has a build in bubble counter, and you can remove the ceramic disc without taking everything apart. I have 4 of these running in different tanks and 2 have had zero issues. The other two had small leaks that I sealed with gorilla glue and they've worked perfect since.

This is crazy, cause I had this list put together, let me know what you think of this stuff? May go with your diffuser tho as it seems cheaper, is it also a c
Drop checker or do I need to get one of those too? Also, should I be dosing stuff on top of this CO2 setup? Like should I use Excel and other stuff still?

Ohhh ok, wasn't sure if you tried cutting the top off of it or not.

I think the aqueon 20G long tanks are good to start. Only $20 during the $1/gallon sale. I would also want a heater, preferably an adjustable one, like the fluval m series (get the 100 watt or 2 50 watt ones in case one breaks do the tank doesn’t freeze or overheat too fast) a good thermostat is this one. A good temp controller (extra level of safety) is this one.

Edit: the type of stand doesn’t matter, just as long as the entirety of the tank is supported and the stand is sturdy enough to hold it.

Regulator (it says not for aquarium use but it’s perfectly fine. Read the reviews, plenty of paid ole are using it for planted tanks.)

I have sand substrate and use this fert. https://www.amazon.com/NilocG-Aquatics-Aquarium-Fertilizer-Specific/dp/B06XK816RT/ref=redir_mobile_desktop?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1&ref=yo_pop_d_yo_pop_d_pd_t2

Thanks for all your input. I just wanna make sure I’m getting the best plants for my current setup. Recently bought some staurogyne repens and it didn’t work out, so I’m a little more selective now, haha.

I bought it locally but, you can but it here https://www.amazon.com/JEBO-F-60204-Aquarium-Cooling-System/dp/B004UAEVFG

Unfortunately it's quit loud and doesn't fit well with rimmed aquariums although, it will fit just not perfectly. It's more for rimless I guess. BUT, it works great! In 90-111°F (temps in the summer that effected my tanks temp to high for my shrimp) this fan kept my tank at 69°F so the cool temps make up for the noise. It says it will cool your tank 4-8°F is a safe way to put it. It cooled my tank anywhere from 5-15°F

Do keep in mind this is a 10G tank and more/stronger fans may be needed for a larger aquarium.

Oh, thank you for these insights.

You sell plants too right? If I'm not mistaken. What would you sell me as a beginner? I got a few plants from petsmart yesterday since I got a few coupons to use. I got a some hairgrass, s repens and some anubias. Just about 1 pack each. I kinda want more.

Also, I do believe I got a pretty good light.
I got this one from Amazon - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00CMFFMS6/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

If you can't find anyone local for lighting, I have 24" T5 and T8 fixtures that I no longer use that I'd be willing to sell cheap.

The T8 is the standard Aqueon fixture that comes with their tanks when buying the set. I can even throw in a free full spectrum replacement bulb that I bought for it but never used.

The T5 is a DeepBlue SolarMaxHE. This is a bit more powerful than the standard T8 and it should be able to handle medium plants easily, maybe medium-high borderlines. I wouldn't try anything demanding (dwarf baby tears) though.

I also have plants, assassin snails, and Malaysian Trumpet Snails, though I'm not sure about packaging them up in the same shipping as you probably want those delivered priority instead of standard post (plus you already stated a preference for local).

I buy in bulk off Amazon. Just standard corregated cardboard.
Shipping is technically 3.50$ plus the 39 cents per box plus tap and bags comes out to about 4$ for me. Obviously bigger boxes are needed sometimes but then I usually just recycle old boxes. (And packing material save the enviorment guys)

It’s pretty great, and requires minimal maintenance. It’s a wet/dry filtration system, with three chambers build into the back. The water flows into one chamber through very small slits in the back, then over flows into the filtration chamber with a filter pad (I’ve just been using the large pads that you can cut to fit rather than the fancy one designed for the tank) and three bags of bio media, and then flows into the return chamber with the pump. It’s kind of like a built in sump.
