I personally have no experience with the books you have mentioned but Drawing for the Absolute Beginner is a good place to start.

Once you're comfortable with the basics, I definitely recommend getting Drawing Realistic Textures in Pencil by J.D. Hillberry. Great book for a beginner to start and grow with.

Here's a picture of something I'm still working on. I'm a self taught artist and I truly believe that there is no such thing as "natural talent." You get what you put into it. Dedicated time and hardwork pay off, so never be discouraged!

If you ever want any tips/advice, I'd be happy to help. :)

Besides drawing naked figures as much as possible, id recommend books aswell. You didnt put it in your post but i find them to be a lot more helpful than quick youtube guides.
This book is great along with a more constructive method like Loomis/Hampton.

Good luck!

Are you bad or are you a beginner?

My money is that you're a beginner.

Best way is to find some type of structured program to learn, my advice to everyone is to buy this book and do the outlined self-paced program. You can find it for free at your local library, or you could also buy it used, no need to buy the latest edition, an earlier edition would do too.

Watercolour crayon!
I also have watercolour pencils but find the lines they give are much too delicate and don't give as much pigment to play with.
