I'm a tradesman and I've had wounds that sound pretty similar to what you're describing over the years - cuts that turn into cracks and splits. They appear to start healing, but then reopen and the cycle continues.

Just recently, I had two at the same time - one on my right thumb and one on my right forefinger. Dry weather and particularly rough work seemed to contribute to the issue.

I'm no doctor, but I'll tell you how I got rid of the wounds myself and maybe you can try it.

When I had a few days off in a row, I used Silver Solution on the wound site, putting it on pretty liberally, then I would cover the area up with bandaids made specifically for fingers. The bandages are waterproof (or so they say) and they tend to stay in place on a finger better than the traditional bandaids.

I would not take those bandages off except to shower, then immediately after getting out of the shower I'd redress the wounds before they had time to completely dry out. The idea is to keep them covered with the silver solution as close to 24/7 as possible until they heal.

A few days later, the wounds healed up completely.

After they heal, be sure to use hand lotion or another product to keep your hands from splitting again.

Hope it works for you, good luck.

The sodium is pretty minimal - it's not a big deal. The sweetener isn't great for you, but it's not that much of a deal either if you don't react adversely to the sweeteners used. The Dasani lemon water is definitely an improvement over soda, and probably better than drinking a lot of juice also (because of the sugar hit from juice).

Something that might work for you is to get a water bottle for fruit infusion. You can end up with some really tasty water that way, and the fruit will be good for pretty much all day water flavoring.

(Not a doctor, just a mom who has taken some university-level nutrition classes for fun.)

Are you looking for an anatomical textbook style on broad understanding of the heart, or something a little more in depth? For instance, I have this handbook, which on Amazon is expensive but you can find it elsewhere. It's a good resource, but it isn't exactly exciting. It's pretty broad in my opinion but includes a lot of research and good references.

Hi. Lamotrigine works for SOM symptoms. You can learn more about my experience here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00M4P6V1G/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_zGSHzbEZ0KR3G
I hope it helps! Best.

Toss some baby powder down there when you run or get some buttr and try that for a bit. I am not a doctor either but it looks like a heat rash to me.

Source: I was in the desert for a long time and it was super hot so I understand heat rash...

Try a differin gel regimen for 6 weeks. Make sure to drink plenty of water and use a good quality moisturizer. It will get worse before it gets better but differin is amazing.

I don't have any medical advice but I think you might benefit from reading Dale Earnhardt's book Racing to the Finish: My Story. My understanding is that it goes through his personal struggles with head trauma and gives a message of hope for others facing similar issues. From one of the reviews: "What was most surprising was the revelation that there is a whole body of medicine geared toward overcoming concussion symptoms, that they involve exercises and training instead of invasive surgery, and that these methods are becoming more effective as the years pass." I figure it might give you some ideas for treatment or may lessen your anxiety about this.

Yes, I take a probiotic (this one) almost everyday when I remember. These days I don't always remember, but I was much better about it while I was recovering from the effect of so many antibiotics on my digestive system.

I'm taking some probiotics in pill form https://www.amazon.com/Culturelle-Probiotic-Antibiotics-Lactobacillus-rhamnosus/dp/B07PK11MG8 meant specifically for when I'm taking antiobiotics.

That initial dose I took that burned my stomach caused me to skip my nighttime dose after that. Ended up waking up with a pimple in my nostril. But I resumed my doses the next morning and decided to take the antiobitics WITH food instead of after food and it seems to have helped. Also taking Zantac 150 mg to keep the acids at bay.

I'm going to grab some Greek yogurt with that too. Haven't had some in awhile, good idea!

Two books recommended in pre-clinical for revision were this and this. They cover the basics but also go into detail about physiology and the main disease processes

u/kat_fud · 2 pointsr/AskDoctorSmeeee

Lysine keeps me practically cold sore free as well. For your relative who suffers from shingles, you might try Butylated Hydroxytoluene. It's a food preservative that apparently helps against lipid-coated viruses (which also includes the virus that causes cold sores). It's not 'natural', but if it works, it works.

I started taking one of these before bed and right after waking up for the past 2 weeks and I believe I no longer feel thirsty like I did?

A tongue cleaner.

Others have said thrush. I don't see thrush but I am not a doctor or in the field. I see a build up on the tongue that needs to be cleaned off.

Regarding the bumps, they are normal.
