Hi BenFranklin90, its a bit pricey, but I always recommend the Qadira Wooden Headphone Stand as it hugs the headsets in a nice full manner and provides relief to the band by having the headset not rest on a smaller area of the band.

So what’s the issue here? They forgot to send you the mod kit right? I’m sure they’ll send you a new one quickly I’ve dealt with their customer service before and they helped me out. I had my mod kit microphone acting funny and it started to move a bunch when it was connected to the headset like it would slide up and down too much so when I talked it moved my head I would constantly have to readjust the mic back towards my mouth. It was like it was loose or something and kept falling down which was really annoying but once I reached out to Astro support they responded to me within a day and offered to send me another mod kit mic for free without me sending back the broken one. Even asked what color modkit I had so the new mic would match my green speaker tags which was nice and I ended up getting the mic within a few days!

Idk maybe try reaching out and contacting their support team and waiting a few more days before coming on here and crying about it......

The headset still works though right? Like nothing is wrong with it except the fast they didn’t send you the modkit?

Also if you’re annoyed by the fact you have to unplug the mic amp you can get a pack of pack of these magnetic USB charging cables which I saw another redditor post here awhile back. I use them for my mix amp so I can easily turn it off when I shut down my PC instead of actually unplugging them or just leaving it on. It should be saving your setting such as the EQ though even when unplugging it.... have you downloaded the new Astro Command center and set everything up correctly?

>Clearly you don't currently own the Krakens or the Mixamp to answer my base question, and I never asked for a non-specialized DAC to use a completely random headset with. Also vaguely saying "syba headphone amp" doesn't tell me what product I should even be looking at.

Bold to assume I don't own those products. I do. I have tested both and the Astro mixamp and the Krakens really disappointed me, even though I already had low expectations from Astro and Razer.

And for your information, I was mentioning these. It's literally the first thing that shows up in Google.

>The headphones you linked are flat out worse specs wise in comparison lmfao.

If you honestly judge an audio product by it's specs, you yet have a lot to learn.

>I didn't ask for advice, I asked for information.

And I gave you both.

>You haven't given a single piece of information pertaining to my post whatsoever.

Yes, I did. I said that it should work fine. If it doesn't, that sucks for you but tbh that's what you get when you purchase such low-end gear, don't have high expectations.

>I didn't downvote you either, LOL

I'm sorry for assuming lol.

>For that overly sensitive and cry baby comment, you can have some more downvotes though!

You sound really mature.

You're welcome. If you want both chat and game features, just tried this out and confirmed it works, get a USB 2 port switch like this one: UGREEN USB Sharing Switch USB 2.0 Peripheral Switcher Adapter Box 2 Computer Share 1 USB Device Hub for Printer Scanner with 2 Pack USB 2.0 Male Cable https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01CU4QCRS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_fAQHDbCATR1PR

Then just plug a USB cable to both PC and PS4. When you want to switch between just hit the switch and switch on your dock.

If you look at those switches just make sure you look through reviews, you want a switch that doesn't feed power back through the unswitched device as that can fry things. Since the A50s work on both USB 2 and 3 either will work for you.

I use both the A40, previous gen with mix amp, and the C40. I absolutely love both.

Although I did spring for extreme tension sticks through Battlebeaver. I also use mine wired. One down side is the cable that came with or the port itself is a bit flaky (over time). That’s one con to it. I also had one stick go out early and Astro was quick to send me a replacement(s) I also use kontrol freaks with the following type: Kontrol Freaks - PS4
I run a long concave on my left side and med concave in my right with the short on the left and the med on my right. This works well for me due to my large hands. YMMV.

As far as hearing directionality I think I’m using the default settings in the amp, played with them based on people on YT, didn’t notice too much difference. But I do adjust the audio in game and that comes much clearer.

I do bounce between Astro mode and tournament mode in the eq button. One down side to this mix amp is the slider dial for voice and game only seems to work one way and I’m not sure how to fix it. So I keep it slightly to the right, off set from center.

Honestly I love my setup when gaming on my PS4.

https://www.amazon.com/Tensun-Extractor-Converter-Splitter-Supports/dp/B01DKECVAO?ref_=fsclp_pl_dp_2 something like this would allow you to get the audio through to the elgato with a standard audio cable and still have your party chat separated for the headset. You would still need a second mic for this setup but gives you the option to mute talking to the party and stream separately as well.

I’d grab this little guy up- I have the same Pro TR and I love it!

That’s the one for Xbox, but you can select what platform you want it for. Also, just FYI, Bestbuy price matches Amazon if you wanted to grab them locally.

u/TherealShowtime · 1 pointr/AstroGaming

amazon has the cable. it is marked up but if you have prime you can have free shipping. even if you used the Astro website to order the cord after shiping it would almost be the same price. here is the link http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00JUFXOXQ?keywords=astro%20inline%20mute%20cable&qid=1451485182&ref_=sr_1_1&sr=8-1 and for you mic the astro mic is normally sensitive. if you believe it is to sensitive maybe buy one of those foam mic covers. but if that dont work and you want a new mic that is also on amazon. here is the link http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Astro-Replacement-Microphone-Boom/dp/B00JUFXOWM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1451485434&sr=8-1&keywords=astro+a+40+mic

The C40 modules are a "wear and tear" item. That being said, there should be no reason for them to wear out this quickly under normal use. You should be able to fix stutter and dead zones by cleaning the potentiometers within the module or replacing the potentiometer sensor wheels inside the module without the need to solder in a new analog sensor. Replacement of the analog sensor might be necessary in some cases. I usually have a bunch of new sensor modules on hand so I can do my own repairs and use them for parts as the components within them are mostly identical and interchangeable. They are readily available via Amazon, Ebay, etc.

Here is a video (not mine) explaining the cleaning and sensor wheel replacement process on a DS4 but the procedure will be much easier on the C40 module due to easier disassembly.

You want the USB and optical cable from the mixamp to go to your Xbox. Configure the mixamp first with the mixamp plugged in via USB to the PC and make it so the stream port only outputs the party chat.

Once configure plug the USB back into the Xbox. Then you want a cable going from the headphone or out audio port on your PC into the aux port on the mixamp.

This will give you Xbox audio and party chat output to your capture card while also allowing you to hear PC audio.

You may have to get a ground loop isolator for the aux cable though as you may get a humming noise Mpow Ground Loop Noise Isolator... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019393MV2?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Astro uses one with a longer tip. If you buy a replacement, you need to look for one with a longer tip. I bought this one in 2017 and it works great:

I appreciate it. For now, I tracked down a replacement battery and have a friend with a soldering iron. I'm going to try to replace it myself for the $14 and worry about a new headset if I botch the job.

This is what I bought

There is also a Western Digital My Book external drive plugged into my Xbox via usb

So far the isolator has completely suppressed the buzz on my mic. After a few tests there is a quiet buzz that’s now in the background of the recordings. (Not in my headset like it used to)

I’m trying to fiddle with it but the main problem is solved with that thing I bought

EDIT: in my computer settings I turned down the mic volume to 70 and that was enough to get rid of the buzz on the recordings. I think it’s all good now

Yes I do this at the moment. Got my a50s connected to pc, Xbox and PS4.

Get a usb switch and tos link switch. They are about £30 each for decent ones.

The included Splitter does not work on pc, only on switch and phones. You need a pc splitter like the one below.

I have a Gen1 (maybe gen2, idk) A40 and Mixamp that Ive had since 2013.

I had the humming in my headset for a while and I tried many different configurations to get rid of the hum to no avail.

Several years ago, I built a Y-cable that went from my mixamp (miniB end) to my PC for data only (USB A end), and another USB A end for power only to plug into the wall. The trick here is that the ground must still go to all three connectors. If you don't connect the ground on the data to PC end, the PC will do some very weird stuff and not recognize the Mixamp, or it will drop out and come back up, and give USB errors.

The Y-cable I built stopped all noise. Solder splicing USB wires is very tedious due to the very small wire gauge, and using heat shrink wasn't easy since the outer insulation on the cables I bought to cut up and modify melted fairly easily, even on low heat setting on my heat gun.

I built a new system at the end of 2017, namely with a new motherboard (old motherboard was GA-Z87X-UD4H), and I moved to another home shortly afterwards. In the move, I ended up losing the Y-Cable I built. So I decided to use the Astro USB cable it comes with til I could locate the cable I built.

Come to find out that there was no buzzing in the headset with the Astro cable connected to my new system's motherboard (ASRock Fatality X399 Gaming). So I just never ended up looking for my custom cable.

I recently discovered that now there is a slight buzzing/humming in the mic output. I can't hear it, but when I've played with others online, they say they can hear it. I made a recording using OBS so I can hear the severity of the noise. When playing it back, I can hear it very clearly. Its not very loud, but it is definitely noticeable, and Id be irritated having to hear it from someone else over my speakers or headset.

Im thinking of trying an inline ground loop noise isolator for the 3.5mm to the headset that I saw on Amazon, which also has some questions and good reviews about using it with the Astro Headsets and Mixamps. https://www.amazon.com/Mpow-Ground-Isolator-Stereo-System/dp/B019393MV2

If this doesnt work, then I will try a more expensive USB noise filter next.

A ground loop isolator should be able to fix that for you. Just plug it in between the aux connection and your PC.
