You can use resistance bands, like everyone said. Just be sure you're anchoring the bands to something sturdy. I also recommend using a set or two of stackable bands like this. You can get a ton or resistance using these.

Usually mounting this in the door will be good using the included door anchor. Just be sure to lock the door when using it so it doesn't open. Also, be sure to be one the side of the door that the door does not swing to. Finally, last bit of safety, don't overload the anchor. I have 2 sets of bands and had loaded them all in for these lunges that Jeff has a guy do in Week 12 of AX2 and the stitching on the anchor tore and gave me a huge bruise on my rear. I now use the belt used for weighted dips to anchor the bands for that exercise (wrapped around my power rack with the barbell acting as a counterweight with a lot of weight on it). Generally, you can load up all the bands on the anchor and be ok for most stuff. If you buy 2 sets (I recommend this so that you can have a L&R cable setup), you can also double up on the anchors to be extra safe.

Im exactly your height now sitting at 158 lb around 12% BF.

About 4 years ago I was 110 lb so you have a better starting point, at 17. I wish I had started lifting at your age I began my journey at 23 so you will get results quicker but not immediate.

I also have some sort of scoliosis, and I say some some sort because I have never been to a doctor to officially give me a diagnosis but I tell you that before I had this extreme unbalance whereas my right shoulder was way down so when I walked I looked like a zombie.

Weightlifting has improved this DRAMATICALLY I still have the imbalance but is way less, as for substitutes Im not sure man imo I would say for you to try deadlift and squat but with the bar or body only and experiment a lot till you find your perferct position, feet, stance etc then you can gradually go from there

Im not sure about gains in AX1 which I am sure there is gains buuuuut dont set your expectations high you WONT gain lots of weight in only 90 days this is a journey that will take years, be patient, the gains are waiting for you but they are slow......if you set your expectations high you will be dissapointed. I have done MAX SIZE and got decent results BUT even so that I have been lifting for years I wish I had done AX1 first so you are on the right path.

I wouldn't advise to take the route of dirty bulking, I did it and yes I gained weight but most of the fat goes to your belly and in my case face so I had this big waist with skinny rest of the body, it looks idiotic. Eat clean, dont take the mass gainers route.

I didn't start with AthleanX I started with the Bigger Leaner Sronger by Mike Matthews book, I recommend you read it first and even you could try his program which is also science based and then jump into AX1, either one is ok but I would read his book first.

Got these from amazon for 25$

They’re pretty great and durable, best thing is that the handles allow you to stack them.
You get 10,20,30,40 and 50lb bands by default.
So you can combine the 20 and 50 for 70, I haven’t tried combining three bands though.
Never needed that heavy haha

I would recommend this book instead: Overcoming Gravity: A Systematic Approach to Gymnastics and Bodyweight Strength (Second Edition) https://www.amazon.com/dp/0990873854/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_vbYCDbH4ZNXQD

Good luck!

So flexibility is definitely a problem that can hurt your progress. I'd recommend this book: Becoming a supple leopard by Kelly Starrett. It is a step by step guide on how to identify what your restrictions are and how to fix them. Great book that has helped many (me included).

I'd wager that this is a legit reason to use your phone camera in the gym. You're not Instagramming yourself, you're worried about your form and don't have a lift partner to watch you as you do sets. Consider getting a little tripod, film yourself with low weight or just the bar (especially on compound lifts) and watch it back immediately to see what doesn't look right and make adjustments from there. Once you're comfortable with your form, then start upping the weight. You can't (shouldn't) train if you're injured and bad form is a quick way to getting hurt. At a minimum, bad form doesn't properly work the muscle groups you're targeting and will slow your progress.

I haven't done Max Size, but Jeff knows his stuff, so it's probably a pretty good program.

I think Jeff sells a set on the athlean x website. I got mine on amazon and I like them: Tribe Resistance Bands Set,... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07Q3YVDCR?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

On my own program now.

Maybe I'll send one after this cycle in a few weeks. I'm sizing up quick.

BlackCraneStoic (Really original, I know) is my new account for TRP though I hardly use it as much as I used to. Too busy building my body and my bank account to be bothered much anymore.

I bought these ones Bodylastics Stackable (12 Pcs) MAX Tension Resistance Bands Sets. This Leading Exercise Band System Includes 5 of Our Anti-Snap Exercise Tubes, Heavy Duty Components, and a Travel Bag. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006NZZH18/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_BXc3Cb881XWAA they are so much better than anything else I have handled. The handles are quality the clips are heavy duty and they have done everything I need. I bought the bigger set with extra handles and heavier bands so now I have some with me at work to

If you’re going with AX-1, I’d go to a used sports equipment store and find something like these variable dumbbells. I’d guess you can find them for about 50-70 bucks and you don’t need more than 40 pounds on each side to start, really. There are more convenient blocks but they are more expensive.

You will also want to pick up a used bench and pull up bar. Again, don’t bother with new.

I just bought these yesterday and they came today. They are cheap but they feel durable enough. I figure if any of them break I'll either return them or just suck it up as the $11 is not to big of a loss.
