This is great, thank you. It's a shame a high quality post like this gets only 15 upvotes after a day, but welcome to the sub!

We went to Sapelo this last summer and it was amazing and beautiful and almost sacred. We were pretty much the only people on the beach.

But it also felt sad. The state and non-indigenous tourists have slowly and systemically forced out most of the island's original population. At the (only) general store I overheard a fellow tourist and white person calling a relative and telling them how cheap land is there, and that they wanted to buy land. We were pretty much alone on the beach most of the time, but there was some fishing tournament happening and at the north beach a bunch of boats had gathered up to party and were throwing beer cans into the water.

Here's a good article on what's happening over there:
https://www.buzzfeednews.com/article/hannahallam/sapelo-island-georgia-civil-rights-lawsuit-muslim-history

also if anyone is looking for a good book about sapelo this is great (the author, considered the matriarch of Sapelo, died about year ago):

Here are some ideas.

  • Atlanta Dishtowel from CatStudio - I LOVE this, and have the GA and DC one as well. I've given it to several friends as housewarming, wedding, and going away presents. It's colorful, unique, and a great conversation piece. I've seen it at tons of boutiques around town.

  • Fancy Capri Blue Candle - you can usually find at Anthropologie or Francescas.

  • Monogram Mug - or any funky mug, maybe with an assortment of nice teas, coffees, or cookies she likes?

  • Emoji Magnets - if she is silly and you have a silly workplace. I gave these as a going away present to my work BFF and she loves them!

  • Treat Yo Self wine glass - I got this as a birthday present, and it is forever the best. Could pair with a $10/12 bottle, but you may have to call around to find it.

  • ANYTHING from the Merchant on Howell Mill that place is a gold mine for unnecessary, gifty-type, home stuff. Lots of jewelry, bar ware, tea towels, pet stuff... Good luck in your quest!

I got 3 boys - I take them hiking and fishing. Total cost is approx. $15/day including fishing licenses and/or parking fees (usually donations) and a gatorade to share.

We have a Stone Mountain pass (not the expensive membership, although it has been tempting). They have a lots of fun places like playgrounds, hiking, and a neat area where kids can kinda splash in a creek. (Near the grist mill, just walk along the creek/trail until you get to where it crosses the creek).

Your area has tons of great trails though, download the "AllTrails" app and you can find lots nearby. A 4 year old can do all the "Easy" trails and a fair amount of the "Moderate" Trails, as long as you are willing to turn around instead of finishing longer paths!

My favorite Roswell trail is the Old Mill Park. I've seen people fish in the stream there, too, but I haven't fished there myself, yet.

I also like to take my kids to different parks, I have an inflatable pod swing that I keep with some strong rope in my trunk, as well as a seat-disk . When we go to parks and trails we keep an eye out for a good place to hang the swings, temporarily. Depending on how busy the places are, sometimes a bunch of other kids will want a few pushes on the swing.

Is the drive spinning up at all when you turn it on?

If it does spin up, and it's not making loud clanking noises, you can probably handle the recovery on your own.

I always recommend testdisk/photorec since I get the best results with it (and it's free), but it's all command line and not the most friendly user interface so you may want to try something else if you aren't super techy.

There are many to choose from - but other than photorec, you'll probably have to pay for one of the high end ones to get any real results. EaseUS, Recuva, and DiskWarrior (if you're on Mac) are my go-to options.

You may also need a new drive enclosure if your operating systems disk utility doesn't see the drive at all since it could just be the controller on the enclosure you've got. (This would definitely void any warranty you've got with that hard drive if you're worried about that kind of thing).

Mount the drive into the enclosure, and then you can run the recovery software.

If however the drive doesn't spin up, or it's making those clanking noises, then unfortunately you'll need to have it handled by professionals who have a proper clean room to disassemble the drive inside of.

I've been fortunate enough that all of my issues have been something I was able to resolve on my own (I used to do corporate IT work) and I haven't needed to use a service, however I know multiple people who have had great experiences with DataSavers here in town.

Good luck!

I know people more than twice your age still coasting day-after-day miserable doing nothing to end their misery and just perpetually bitching in an infinite feedback loop. The fact you recognize that and are willing to change it is a MAJOR first step. Don't forget that.

When I was your age I was in a similar situation. I remember graduating high school asking my "friends" if any parties were happening. There were, I just wasn't invited. It broke my heart, but it also helped teach me a lesson: shitty friends are worse than none. Never let shitty people dictate your situation. If your boss sucks, find a new job. If your friends treat you shitty, find new friends. If your parents have stunted your growth as an adult, find new family.

Progress is made in inches, not miles. Flash forward to today and I'm making good money in a job field with a dramatic shortage of talent, so many great friends I can have adventures with, leading community building and activism efforts I believe in, and bringing cool art to the city I love (I'm doing an art show July 29th called "Kaiju Cult" with a guy who 5 years ago I admired but now we're business partners and friends).

If I could give you one piece of advice it would be this: you'll always have problems. A problem-free life is a work of fiction. You can only replace your bad problems with good ones. "I have no friends" eventually became "I have so many great friends but not enough time to spend with all of them". It's still a problem, but a good one to have. It didn't switch like that overnight and I had a LOT of heartbreak and bullshit to get to where I'm at.

If any of this advice is tickling your pickle, I highly recommend you give this a read:

>much cheaper than Claratin, Allegra, or other newer types

These can be bought as generics on Amazon for super cheap. This generic Zyrtec is 4 cents a pill.

Generic Allegra is quite a bit more expensive but not too terrible.

Generic Claritin is also super cheap.

The generic Zyrtec and Claritin are actually cheaper than what they sell thh Wal-Finate for (which comes out to a little over 10 cents a pill -- and they last all day instead of 4 hours).

I still have over half of my generic Zyrtec bottle from last year linked above.

For that matter, you can also get chlorpheniramine (what Wal-Finate is) on Amazon for much cheaper too. The Walgreen's website has their Wal-Finate listed at $7 for a 50 count of 4mg tablets. Amazon has $12 for a 1000 count of 4mg tablets.

You're welcome :)

If you have a small closet, these hangers save a lot of space. The velvet on them keeps clothes from slipping, but they are super thin compared to regular plastic hangers and save space. There are also hangers where you can hang like 5 pair of pants on 1 hanger which is a great space saver.

I think that having a poor diet going into this makes continuing the journey after 30 days much more difficult. The time spent cooking was intense but my SO and I made it work. I cooked dinner and the SO would prepare lunches for the following day. We always made enough food at dinner to bring leftovers for lunch the following day. It just requires preplanning and you have to be ready for that or you will fail.

As for sweets, I love them. Chocolate is something I will never give up. Find alternatives. My SO does apples with a little almond butter. I do pistachios (in moderation).

The best advice I can provide to someone is to read the book. It provides your with explanations as to why you are cutting out dairy, legumes, etc. but having lots of fats. Don't be intimidate by it. The books reads really well and the second half is full of recipes. Feel free to continue asking questions!!

> Actual.

If you/she really wants to Cleanse your space, it is really quite easy.

As /u/Fawkestrot15 mentioned, intent is important.

So the first place to start is with yourself/Her, you need to center yourself mentally and emotionally so the best thing would be to get everything prepared then do something relaxing to get in the correct frame of mind like take a bath or a relaxing shower to be cleansed both mentally and physically.

I, personally, would smudge the house then close the entrances to negative energy by drawing a protective circle around your home with salt (any salt is fine). Just pour a thin line of salt around your home as you imagine a wall of white light coming up from the salt. Make sure you close the line so it is a solid line of salt. It doesn’t have to be thick and it is ok that the salt will dissolve later. It is the process of doing this in the beginning. The point is to make a mental dome of white energy that covers your space.

Another thing you can do is to make up a bunch of little protection bags and place one over each entrance to your home (windows too) I add some herbs to my bags also because they help and smell nice too.

Bottom line though is, you have mentally cleansed your space from negativity by going through this Ritual and then (by placing the bags) given yourself reminders that you have cleansed your space.

So, by all Intent if not in actuality, you have rid your living space of whatever has been bothering you.

In my opinion, Magik <spellwork> is all mental. Not any different from a Christian praying

I'm pretty sure this is it. I like how I can hide it behind my mirror. The quality is decent, and it has a battery that allows the camera to continue to record for a certain amount of time after the engine is shut off.

Most of the time I forget it's there until something fun happens on the road. Have had it for over a year and the peace of mind is worth way more than the cost of the camera.

Edit: Looks like for $15 more you can get one of a similar format that is more favorably reviewed. Rexing.

Would something like these work? I've ordered from Nashville Wraps before and they are fast and inexpensive. (There are way more in the box than you need, but the price is pretty low for that many, perhaps they can be used by the club for a future event as well.)

You might also try Uline as well, but I didn't see anything that wasn't quite a bit more pricey than the Nashville Wraps bags above.

One other place to try is Joann or Michaels, perhaps you can find some plain gift bags (solid color or similar) to use. Good luck!

Edited to add: Found this on Amazon. 100 for $20 if you're a prime member. (A little more for shipping if you're not.)

Gotcha. Just my experience with air mattresses:

  1. You get what you pay for. Buy the name brand. I've never had trouble with Aerobed if it was handled properly. (I left one at my aged father's place and he did something while rolling it up to pop an inner chamber. It would still hold air but support wasn't great. But he is an old man with diminished capacity who can't learn new things, so I'm sure he was mishandling it somehow.)

  2. Pay extra for a tall mattress - much easier to get out of than one that is only a few inches off the ground. Something like this.

  3. Air compressing over night is different than air leaking out. The instructions say that you are supposed to roll the mattress out and let it sit in the environment for at least an hour before blowing it up. That's to allow the mattress to get to the same temperature as the environment. I've only had trouble with air compression when I brought the mattress straight from my car and immediately blown it up. If I let it "warm up" for an hour or two in the place where I'm gonna sleep (not in the bag, but actually laid out) then the air doesn't compress overnight.

  4. They do sleep cold. That one is much more difficult to get around. But most recently at my sister's house, we laid a blanket down under the mattress pad and bottom sheet. I think we probably needed one more blanket to really cut all the cold and it would have been perfect. Instead, I piled four blankets on top of me (it was snow weekend) and I slept warm enough.

  5. Getting in and out may be an issue. But don't be afraid to fill that mattress really full (this also helps with the air compression issue). I've never gotten one so full it popped. Your murphy bed may be different, but the ones I'm familiar with sit directly on the floor so I'm not sure how that is easier to get out of than a tall, firm air mattress. But maybe.

Wait, wait, before you go any further, let me nail you down. Are you saying that Japanese curry is spicy, as in, its spiciness is an essential characteristic of what makes it a dish, or even that it is generally spicy, that more often than not, it's served spicy?

Or are you saying that is can be spicy, which isn't really saying anything at all, since pretty much anything can be served spicy to satisfy individual palate.

Because after we've nailed that down,we can talk about who's spent more time in Japan, traveling and eating. After all, I was born and raised right next door in Korea with the same curry (usually my mom used [this brand] (http://www.amazon.com/Golden-Curry-Sauce-Mix-Medium/dp/B0002ITQAA) except it wasn't spicy at all) but we generally eat spicier than the Japanese. If I had to put a number on gallons of the thing I ate in Korea and Japan, I'd probably put it conservatively at maybe a smidgen less than a thousand, but honestly, I can't. It's been served in one way or another (at home, restaurant, at friends place) probably at least once a week . It's a popular camping food too because it's a simple, straight-forward one-pot (important consideration) food.

Yeah, don't pull that I've had Japanese curry a few dozen times on me. I grew up on it.

Waterproof bluetooth speakers can be had pretty cheap these days:
https://www.amazon.com/Portable-Bluetooth-AYL-Waterproof-Rechargeable/dp/B014VJD6PQ/ref=sr_1_5?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1469456311&sr=1-5&keywords=waterproof+bluetooth+speaker

Might want to pick up a small dry bag for a phone or two, some car keys, etc.

Pick up some big, cheap carabiners from Amazon. Often sold as "mommy hooks". They work great for quickly and easily connecting a bunch of tubes together without having a mess of life jacket straps. Also work great work getting a couple pairs of sandals securely stowed.

I'm new to gardening in this climate, myself. Here are some books and websites I've found useful:

Specific to vegetable gardening: https://www.amazon.com/Timber-Vegetable-Gardening-Southeast-Regional/dp/1604693711/

For seed varieties and gardening information specific to the Southeast, these people are really, really good: http://www.southernexposure.com/

A useful book if you're looking for non-edible/landscaping-related information: https://www.amazon.com/Gardening-South-Complete-Homeowners-Guide/dp/1604695919

The Houzz forums are useful for real-live-human experiences with what survived and didn't: https://www.houzz.com/discussions/georgia-gardener

Walter Reeves is a frequent recommendation: http://www.walterreeves.com/

If you want really deep tomato knowledge from intense tomato people: http://tomatoville.com/forumdisplay.php?f=54

So far I've learned that you do well to be skeptical of what's being sold at big box stores, it seems that a lot of the varieties they sell are probably stocked nationwide and aren't necessarily the best choices for this climate. Good luck gardening!

This is true. Based on your comment, you might like a book called "The End of Faith".

https://www.amazon.com/End-Faith-Religion-Terror-Future/dp/0393327655

"In The End of Faith, Sam Harris delivers a startling analysis of the clash between reason and religion in the modern world. He offers a vivid, historical tour of our willingness to suspend reason in favor of religious beliefs―even when these beliefs inspire the worst human atrocities. While warning against the encroachment of organized religion into world politics, Harris draws on insights from neuroscience, philosophy, and Eastern mysticism to deliver a call for a truly modern foundation for ethics and spirituality that is both secular and humanistic. Winner of the 2005 PEN/Martha Albrand Award for Nonfiction."
