All the shoes I've purchased have been 40-60 USD (at time of purchase) --- I've used Amazon and outlets as shoes are available. I'm actually waiting on a couple shoes to arrive (gotta have someone visit to get around customs) so i won't comment on them but here is a copy/paste of a comment I've made regarding shoes that I've already used:

4) Right now I'm rocking Adidas Streetball 2. Not as "snug" on my ankle as I prefer, but that's remedied by adding an ankle brace if you're concerned about it. Otherwise a very solid shoe for players who post up a lot and really bang and grind on an outdoor court. It'll take a LONG time to wear down the treads on those. They're kinda heavy though for smaller/quick-footed players & movements. The lacing is a pain in the butt to deal with, too, if you have to loosen/tighten your shoes a lot like I do. Poor design in their eyelets, IMO. https://www.amazon.com/Adidas-Originals-Street-Basketball-Shoes/dp/B00JFGUOEM/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484767061&sr=8-1&keywords=adidas+streetball+2

3) If there's a chance I'll be in more of a PG role, I have a pair of Reebok Pumpspective Omni Lite that I like to use. I like the "outer lip" that they have to prevent ankle rolling. A lot of cutting on a rough will have you wearing down the tread pretty quickly though... but they transition between indoor/outdoor pretty well. Plus they get nostalgia points for having "The Pump." https://www.amazon.com/Reebok-Pumpspective-Basketball-Blazing-Orange/dp/B00AW7GYBA/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1484768574&sr=8-1&keywords=pumpspective

2) A good balance between the two (in my opinion) is Jordan Superfly 2. They have good ankle support, and hold up pretty well on the concrete. I recently tried the Superfly 5s on -- yesterday, in fact-- and the newer Superfly shoes have a much different fit than the 2s (I did NOT like the newer fit). Treads are a little deeper than the Pumpspective, but not as deep as the StreetBall. These are my "preferred" outdoor shoe on the list. https://www.amazon.com/Jordan-Super-Fly-Black-White-Basketball/dp/B00M0IE0C4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1484767491&sr=8-3&keywords=jordan%2Bsuperfly%2B2&th=1

  1. The final pair of shoes I've used are the Nike Air Max Stutter Step 2. They're extremely lightweight (especially compared with the other shoes on my list) and I usually use these as indoor shoes, but I have taken them to concrete courts for "impromptu" pickup games. Decent ankle support if you lace them up tightly, and can still fit an ankle brace as well (if you need it). If these had a deeper tread I would make them my default "go-to" basketball shoe. Alas, they aren't, so I don't want to wear them down too quickly. https://www.amazon.com/Nike-Air-Stutter-Step-653455-005/dp/B00JDPS302/ref=sr_1_2?s=apparel&ie=UTF8&qid=1484768142&sr=1-2&nodeID=679255011&keywords=nike+stutter+step+2

i bought this one on sale around christmas for $10. It's nice with lots of grip. I've only used it outside once or twice briefly, honestly I don't want to fuck it up. i'd say just look for sales unless you're playing on nice concrete and like sweep it off regularly. outdoor balls on asphalt and rocks and metal backboards and shit are gonna get fucked anyways.

that one basically feels like an evo but with rubber instead of the sythetic leather. it has deeper grooves too. its quite nice i almost like it more than my black evo. come to think of it i should try it out inside.

it's got super good grip too for handles or palming if you can.

I have played pretty much my whole life and never once used a mouth guard for basketball. I also don't recall seeing anyone else using one. Overall I really don't believe they are necessary for the average person in basketball. If you have a dental issue then yes ask a dentist. If, for some reason it makes you more comfortable to have one, there are several options. I use this somewhat regularly for BJJ and while its kind of bulky it works just fine. If you plan on using it for a long time though you might just invest in a custom one so you can communicate better with your team.

The Little Tikes one of these is the shit. Somehow the balls have a great feel (both shooting and dribbling) and the net gives a satisfying swish. If you have little ones you need one of these. Absolutely my favorite baby toy, plus my two year old is working on her handles.

Best and cheap don’t mix. If you’re going for an outdoor ball, don’t buy leather; get something that will last. If you’re going indoor, get The Rock. It’s like 60$ and my favorite ball to play with indoors.

I'm 6'0 185 pounds looking for new shoes. I mainly play off the ball, run a lot in transition, and crash the boards hard on both ends. I recently sprained my right ankle badly for the second time in the past 2 years and I'm trying to take a lot better care of it this time around, starting with a new pair of shoes. I was wearing some Zoom Ascentions (these) that are a couple years old and did not really like anything in particular about them. Cost isn't a concern right now, just really looking for a general reccomendation with good ankle support since I've never owned a decent pair of basketball shoes before. Thanks.

u/RIPpoop · 2 pointsr/Basketball

I've never used one before, only experience I have with wearables in bball is my teammate's apple watch falling off in a game and I rescued it before it got stomped on. From the Reviews and Q&A section of the fitbit inspire clip on amazon, seems like it will do a solid job slipping on to part of your shorts or laced into your shoes.

u/flojo-mojo · 1 pointr/Basketball

probably about the same.. only if the shoe had some strange defect would it make a noticeable difference.

I got these the other day - 30 bucks, fit great, look pretty cool. If you can return your other shoes, I would absolutely do it.

Like every one said: Ice.

Some guys used to get some relief from a knee band. It compresses the meniscus tendon below the knee.

Again, ice is incredible, I used to ice like crazy after practices. You can also take NSAID's like Advil if you're a bit swollen, assuming you're not allergic or anything.

I've put in a lot of hours on a Lifetime system. Not that model, but similar. Held up great. Got slammed on. Never a problem. Sturdy.

> Wilson NCAA

This ball right here or the offical one?

https://www.amazon.com/Wilson-NCAA-Replica-Game-Basketball/dp/B002XLWE3K?th=1&psc=1

Is it better than Nike true grip? I want something as close to the evolution as possible since that is the ball our tournaments uses. I understand that the evo is a no good ball for outdoors.

u/alwaysdoit · 3 pointsr/Basketball

I really like these: https://www.amazon.com/SoundPEATS-Bluetooth-Headphones-Sweatproof-Earphones/dp/B074THH5Q2/

They are fairly inexpensive (<$25), and I've been pretty successful leaving my phone in my gym bag on the side of the court and shooting around with them. I keep the wire behind my head, and have never really had any problems with it (it's actually kind of nice that they are connected).

u/Clavo_PR · 2 pointsr/Basketball

I got a training ball recently and with only two weeks of shooting 200 jump shots a day I have added a good 5 feet of range. It takes a while to adjust to the regular ball after training with this but it has added so much benefit in my jumpers. Its heavy and helps with the forearms but it makes you use your legs as well.

u/real_kltg · 1 pointr/Basketball

I use the Bauerfeind Genutrain, and it stays in place pretty well. Maybe a readjustment once a game if at all. It's been used by some NBA players like Dirk, Jeremy Lin, and Kobe if that counts for anything.

u/rjcarr · 1 pointr/Basketball

I wear these ankle wraps as I've rolled both of my ankles quite a bit before (one pretty bad like you're describing). They limit your movement a little bit, but I've been in situations where I've rolled my ankle while wearing them, thinking it was going to be an injury, but I was totally fine. Something like this:
