Advanced chips are fairly easy,

My advice? set up saved search for easy access, and buy in lots.

Sure, you could buy individual chips for a few bucks, or small sets.

But every once in a while someone will dump a huge set of chips on ebay for crazy low prices!

I came a cross a listing of around 30 chips, including two giga chips!! for just under $50 ('buy now')

Now that's not common, but lots are great for getting started, as you get the most chips for the lowest cost.

I would avoid going with booster packs, apparently they're not really random as my friend found out the hard way.

But if you have not yet, I'd suggest picking up a battle chip gate, They're fairly cheap, come with 10 chips, and actually let you battle with the chips assuming you have mmbn4.

You could pick up an advanced PET as well for some extra chips,

But imo, the advance pet is better used as a show piece rather than a game.. it's not very good.

---

Edit: it looks like there are far less listings now, then back when I was still actively collecting,

Ebay is still the number 1 place to look, Lots are even a better option now if you have the patience

And simply searching for "Megaman Battle Chip" may turn up a few extra listings

---

Edit 2:

If you don't mind Korean text, you can find some of the sets like This

...Or even better yet, Get a progress pet thrown in for a little extra.

There is no region locking on any of these battle chips, so they'll work fine in any system.

I see what your explaining, let me clarify what your trying to say a bit.

If your copy of Battle Network (or any other early GB/GBC/GBA/NES/SNES game) will not save, it's likely due to a dead CR2025 battery, which in the GBA era was finally being replaced with flash memory sometimes.

This early memory used RAM to hold the game save, just like your computer's RAM. like your computer's ram, it requires power to hold data. No power, and the transistor states that hold your game's data will be lost and your game will corrupt. So when that battery's power goes below the operational threashold of the ram chip, data degrades. Eventually, the battery will be too weak to power the RAM chip at all, and your saves vanish as soon as the game boy is powered off.

If your lucky, your game may have a flash chip instead. This is what most games made today have, and it doesn't require power to hold data. It does have a limited number of writes, but that's not going to be a problem with the amount of writes a game like MMBN makes. That's more of an SSD hard drive problem.

The type of CR2032 battery Nintendo used in these games is a soldered in type like this. When these game batteries die, the best solution is to desolder the old one and install A socket and put a standard CR2025 in it's place so it's replaceable in the future. Sometimes if the game pak has too little space, another soldered type must be installed.

A game pak may also have issues saving and playing the game if the slot connector is dirty, which may be the case if multiple games have issues. There's a kit to clean the connector, but I can't seem to find it for some reason. The other side of the issue is the game itself, which is the case if "blowing on it" makes it work. You will need A set of Nintendo screwdrivers which may also come included with security bit sets, ~90% isopropyl alchohol, and an unused eraser. It's a good idea to go ahead and do this if you're already replacing the battery and if your doing this, you may also think about replacing the battery... erase off the buildup and clean the connector with the alchohol and paper towels or q-tips. There are things like the 1up card for bigger systems, no idea why the GB line was passed over.

Anyway, hope this helped.

English dub is cool except Stream, Beast, and a selection of episodes from EXE and Axess were never dubbed. At some point you are just better off watching the original.

Only the EXE dub is on DVD, Axess did not make it. Every episode of the original is on DVD though, that's how we have the nice raws nowadays.

I suppose for the dub, you can start from here and work your way up: https://www.amazon.com/Megaman-NT-Warrior-Jack-Vol/dp/B0002B54LW

That's interesting. Looks like you just need an action replay dsi or a flash cart. If anyone is interested amazon has the action replay for $30: https://www.amazon.com/Action-Replay-DSi-Nintendo-DS/dp/B002N73PEQ

Edit: The star force series isn't on the supported list so it may not work: https://github.com/polaris-/dwc_network_server_emulator/wiki/Compatibility

They are finally having a reprint

https://www.amazon.com/Mega-Man-Battle-Network-Hardcover/dp/1772941123/ref=sr_1_2?keywords=battle+network+complete+works+book&qid=1558899569&s=gateway&sr=8-2

The complete works books are cool because they talk about little known facts about character design, and even story. I especially like the Zero one because it mentions how the series was working to reach Legends, and what parts of the story they considered when going forward. For example they officially recognize the tower at the end of Zero 1 as the Orbital Elevator from X8.

So you'll need to install an emulator. Visual boy advance is usually the most common and I haven't had any trouble with it. (Pick the top download)

Then you'll need roms. Megaman, Megaman Zero, etc...

Optional: Also here's a link if you are interested in a gaming controller. Just install the drivers once you get it and program the controller onto the VBA controller settings.

u/DblBeast · 2 pointsr/BattleNetwork

Update: It's currently going for $36.62 (-$8.37 / 19% off).

What printer are you using? What paper?

Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy II is what I've read as working from the most of the times they mentioned the paper they used.

Epson Premium Photo Paper Glossy is one that could also work, but the person that mentioned it wasn't too specific, (they just said "4x6 premium glossy photo paper") so they could've meant Epson Ultra Premium Photo Paper Glossy or something else entirely

I've also heard conflicting stories of weather you should have your printer set to print in grayscale or not.
