I have some two-hole Fizik M6B Uomo in Blue/Black. Size is 47 and they have just never fit me all that well. I usually wear a 46.5, but when I tried the Uomo in that size it was just too small, so I jumped up to the 47. They're quite comfortable with the exception that they've never held my heel the way I'd like, so I generally don't wear them.

They've got about 30mi of riding on them and a minimal amount of walking. Will happily send you pictures if you'd like. I paid $89 from Jenson awhile back, so I'm sure we could come to a reasonable price south of that somewhere. No idea what shipping would come to, but I'll happily look into it if you're interested.

Would you be interested in one of these, size small, used in great shape? If not no worries 👍

FWIW, I just took a bike, stripped everything off it but the crankset, and replaced it all. Off of the top of my head, I don't think I used any tools that you don't have listed, except for a pedal wrench.

Pick up a tub of this , a small tube of anti-sieze from the auto parts store, and some chain lube, and you're set for virtually everything on the bike.

For torque wrenches, in actual tests, some of the better ones are from Harbor Freight, believe it or not. Just remember to loosen the tension on the handle before putting them away, which is true of any spring-based torque wrench.

What does everyone think of this bike:

I think he would think it's pretty cool to have the same kind of bike his dad does. :-) Anyone have opinions about Diamondback?

Check out the Microsoft brifters, they've gotten some pretty good reviews and can be had new for 55 usd. They are compatible with any 3x7 as far as I know. I've been eyeing them to replace the stem shifters on my hunk of junk.

You might want to think about one of these.

I've gone both ways on this, working from pretty much the same motivation as you with my intent, frankly, being in large part wanting the more modern look.

I put a new fork and a threadless headset into an old Ibis and it worked fine but cost me some money and didn't have any functional advantage over the adapter approach I took on a Giant Rincon of the same vintage. If I were doing it again I'd probably shell out the $20 for an adapter and the $15 for a 1 inch headset and I'd see if that got me where I wanted, because if it didn't I could always go back and do a 1 1/8 fork...

If your freehub will fit 11 speed get sensah empire

It gets the 2x11 deraliurs and shifters
If not get there 10 speed version it is as cheap as used tiagra/used 5800 105 and according to the reviews they are really good and roughly 105 quality

For brakes at the bottom of the barrel is tektro (I have only seen a difference of weight for calipers as you go down in quality others may have a different experience)
and do you also need chainrings/crank arms

And don’t forget cables/housing and bar tape

If you have SPD-SL, then this will do the trick: http://www.amazon.com/Shimano-SPD-SL-PD-R-540-Black/dp/B000P9TOHQ/ref=sr_1_1?s=sporting-goods&ie=UTF8&qid=1410289416&sr=1-1&keywords=shimano+spd+sl+pedals

They come in white, and the white ones are Prime eligible. I have the 105's, but they are more expensive and only come in carbon these days.

Also, any Shimano pedals you buy will come with cleats, so as long as you get some pedals that support the three bolt pattern, you'll get cleats.

I think I tried getting another "original" mount a couple of years ago but didn't have much luck.

I picked up a cheap knock-off on E-Bay years ago so I could mount mine on a different bike. Looks like they are on Amazon. This is the same one I ended up with and I haven't had any issues with it for the last 2 years now.

K-Edge also sells them.

Thanks for the kind words all.

In case anyone wants to use the wheels with a 8/9/10 speed Shimano drivetrain, you would only need one of these $7 spacers: https://www.amazon.com/Shimano-11-Speed-1-85mm-Low-Spacer/dp/B00BO4X1SE
