Whether or not you can add another GPU depends on the rest of your components. I have a rig with two of those Sapphire 7950 cards in it currently and it's pulling 545 Watts, so your 700W PSU should be fine. I'd recommend picking up a Kill A Watt if you are going to be doing much mining, plus they are just pretty cool to have around.

Regarding speeds and clock-rates, I am able to get my Sapphire 7950's running at 1185 core and 200 memory with the stock 1.08 voltage and 75% fanspeed running at ~60c. This results in about 610 Mh/s using cgminer. I use Afterburner to do the overclocking as it's currently the only solution for underclocking the RAM on newer GPU's. See here and here for details on that.

Depending on how your window is set up you could use one of these. I just bought one for my S9 and attached it to the screen of an open window (not ideal).

If you are worried about the vent opening you could look at a window vent for a portable A/C unit. Those usually don't have the spring loaded flap and may work with less resistance.

In the past (when i could not put holes in walls and such) I had put my miner as close to the window as possible and ran a window fan like [this] (https://www.amazon.com/Bionaire-BWF0522E-BU-Comfort-Control-Thermostat/dp/B00EKW4TBK/ref=sr_1_3?s=home-garden&ie=UTF8&qid=1501262568&sr=1-3&keywords=window+fan). It is a bit cheaper than the dryer vent you posted and is useful after the mining stops if needed.

Hope that helps.

Is that dust on those fan intakes (already)?

If so, get an air filter. That isn't good for you or equipment.

I recommend these:

They work well, don't take up huge amounts of space and you can replace the filters pretty easily.

Hey can you recommend any smart PDUs that show wattage? I’m using these now but they only display amps

Tripp Lite Metered PDU, 30A, 30 Outlets (6-C19 & 24-C13), 208/240V, L6-30P, 10 ft. Cord, 0U Vertical Rack-Mount Power (PDUMV30HV) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0012VN0I0/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_4w5ZBbQZ3NQ0A

Edit: looking at my amp readout, overclocked to 14th/s, my miners are pulling 5 amps. I used that to calculate my watts and on 208v I’m estimating I’m pulling 1040 watts. Huge improvement even overclocked.

Ya that PSU is a little high end for a miner you picked up for $40. I'd stay in the Corsair family but go with the CX500 or CX600. Maybe a CX750 if you want to add another. They cost between $50-$80 and seem to always be on sale.

They're 80+ Bronze which is nice, but I'm really hoping your not paying for electricity if you plan on running a cube!

Pcie slots will accept anything below their current size. So a pcie x16 will accept an x1, x4, x8, x16. Luckily, you only require x1. So these pcie x16 to pcie x1 riser cards will allow you to install up to 6 video cards on a motherboard via the assortment of pcie slots on it.

Cool! Thanks for the help.

One last question. Would this hub work well with Bitcoin miners?

Yes. But it is not cheap. $40 at your favorite etailer.
At $80, it might be more cost effective to replace the board.

You won't find any inline fans that can move enough air through that hose. You are going to need an air intake and sound will move through and across the ventilation.

Are you prepared to get enough power into that box? You will need a 15 to 20 amp 120 VAC circuit per S9. You can use the spare current from a 20 amp circuit to run your blower or run it's own circuit. You can hit up craigslist for a household hvac blower and that will move enough air. You could probably use a few layers of air filters on the intake and exhaust to reduce the noise level but these will greatly reduce air flow so you will need a blower that is significantly more powerful than you might think.

You will be building a box shaped tunnel with a few layers of air filters on the front and back. You will need a divider to mount the blower; so you final shape will be more like two boxes with one open side on each and a hole for the blower in between. The open sides are where you will mount the air filters. I suggest something like these with two or more on the intake and exhaust.

You can get them from Amazon.
They function as a cable extension, gives you more freedom to move the video card for air circulation. Some examples of the risers in use. I think this is a more elegant solution than a plastic crate.

When I had a home mining operation (with TOU pricing), I ran my antminer S1 off of a christmas light timer so that it only harvested that sweet sweet off-peak electricity.

Something like this would probably work if you're running the S9 off of 120v. You might be able to find a 240v alternative.

u/UltraSPARC · 2 pointsr/BitcoinMining

Correct. I just did this in a 1x slot for an actual card and it worked great. Buy an x-acto knife. I bought this one on amazon and it works great! Took about 2 minutes to cut the back tab off...

u/bonestamp · 2 pointsr/BitcoinMining

No problem. Oh, if you're planning to get a case for your RPi, I've had a few and I think the best one is this one: http://amzn.com/B008VVXMK0

It's nice and small, fits both Rev A and Rev B boards perfectly and it's got grooves in the back for mounting.

There is no replacement for displacement when it comes to HVAC.

Assuming your room is 10' x 10' with 8' ceilings would make it 800 cubic feet of air. With an Inline Duct fan like this one you would be changing the air every 3 minutes or so (the fan will loose CFM with every bend in the duct and with filtration). Make sure you have filtration on the intake because dust will kill the fan over time.

The noise will vary with the duct size and the fan size (bigger is usually fewer db/cfm). In most modern houses in Canada, HVAC installs an additional inline duct fan to maintain circulation for humidity and air changes. It is usually 6" or 8" similar to the one posted above and controlled by a standard light switch.

In your situation I would look into getting one of those wireless controlled wall plugs with a relay bar like this one (unless your wireless wall socket device can handle heavy inductive loads - consult the user manual because sometimes they don't and things will start on fire over time). This way you can keep the fan in the basement with all the duct and simply rig it up to plug into the remote controlled power bar, controlled from your room. Of course if it isn't too loud, set it up with a thermostat mounted in your room.

Kinda went on a tangent there, hope this helps.</end>

tl;dr - get a big fan, get bigger duct, install it in the basement with a remote control switch, do it with off the shelf stuff and don't be a hero with electricity.

You can use it with pretty much any Bitcoin Miner. It provides the same kind of power (+12 Volts) as the PCIe connectors on a standard ATX PC power supply. I use this with my AntMiner S1's, but you could also use it to power; blades, Cubes, KNC Miners, Hashfast / Fast-Hash, GridSeed. Pretty much everything I've seen takes 12 volt power you just need to get the appropriate cable.

So for the BE Cube for example you would need something like 2 of these cables from Monoprice for $1.25 cut the end off strip the wire and attach it to the gigampz. The 6-pin end goes into the Cube.

I thought I bought a pretty good one. Here it is on Amazon. Which PSU do you suggest if I want to overclock it?

u/jcash5ever · 1 pointr/BitcoinMining

Sorry to be a bother. The cord i ordered I just noticed is a 15amp cord. The outlet is 20amp. I did some looking and some say it is fine, other say it will fry the cord in time. What is your opinion on this? Here is a link to the cord i purchased. I just want to be safe with this. Thanks again. https://www.amazon.com/NEMA-6-20P-C13-Power-Cord/dp/B004WJNVH4/ref=sr_1_1_sspa?keywords=NEMA+6-20P&qid=1558032644&s=electronics&sr=1-1-spons&psc=1
