Love it, great quick summary. I would always recommend Republic of Pirates for anyone interested in an awesome book on pirate history. It is non-fiction that reads like fiction..excellent author.

I was mid-way through Season 2 before it was pointed out to me that Black Sails was a prequel of sorts to Treasure Island. I decided to pick up the kindle/audible combo for dirt cheap (The Kindle version is actually FREE, and I was able to add the audible version for a dollar or two). I thoroughly enjoyed reading/listening to Treasure Island, and doing so has greatly enhanced my enjoyment of the series.
Something else to consider is that I don't think you generally need to worry about spoilers in a prequel situation. Order of creation/publication is more important that chronology in my experience. The creators of Black Sails will expect that much of their audience will have read Treasure Island, so I wouldn't expect any big reveals or twists that would be spoiled by the book. If anything, Black Sails will be spoiling Treasure Island as you will know things about some of the characters going in that Stevenson doesn't intend for you to know right off the bat.

It's worth mentioning though that IMDB heavily weight certain votes. A vote from an IMDB staffer is worth like 1000 regular votes. Your vote will count a lot more if you actually regularly review things on IMDB than if you just sign up to vote for one thing.
Rating it on Amazon also helps a lot, especially since a lot of people have give it 1 star because of technical problems with the streaming service and not because they think the show is bad.
