I would highly recommend this camera from this seller if the area is ever somewhat dark. It has the starlight sensor that is one of the very best for low light conditions. I use these with BI and they work great. if it’s always well lit, you can go with a higher resolution camera and not worry about the starlight sensor like this one. Both of these cameras have adjustable focal length - meaning you can set them wider or narrower depending on the area you want to cover. Ipcamtalk.com forums are very helpful also - they have a BlueIris machine guide showing what older PC’s to look for on ebay that will run BI fine.

I have this camera and it's awesome. Great PTZ, very clear images at night. There is a newer version and a Wi-Fi version if you prefer those. I highly recommend.

Amcrest Outdoor PTZ POE Camera, Pan/Tilt/ 12x Optical Zoom 1080P POE+ (802.3at) Home Security PTZ IP Camera, Starvis Low Light Sensor, 328ft Night Vision, IP66 Waterproof, 2-Megapixel, IP2M-853EW https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B0797583CP/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_qq.zDb7A5R1M0

These are awesome. Nice wide angle view, responsive, decent settings and work great with BI

They come in black too. Keep in mind these are POE.

Axis is the best camera around, but they are super expensive. However, HikVision is a good middle ground, I suggest THIS camera, as its 4k, so you can digitally zoom to find stuff after the fact. I know for a fact it works well with BI. However, its not PTZ, its a fixed lens, so not sure if you need to do that or not.

I’m very happy with the Amcrest 8mp turrets. Night vision is amazing and the turret form factor is great I haven’t found a place they can’t be installed. I’ve deployed 6 at home and more than 20 at work. You can beat the price either 119.00 each.. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07RHQGS8V/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_4cNTDbNTXF2AV

Yes! I gave up my Ring.com Pro and switched to an RCA HSDB2 doorbell. Been working great as part of my BlueIris set-up. This forum at IPTalk helped a lot with getting things working.

As far as reasonable - some people have waited for deals. And the IP forum had some chatter about others - possibly less expensive.

What was important for me was that I could integrate it into my BI eco-system; didn't have to pay a ring.com fee and to tell you the truth this one just works! My Pro was a bit flaky.

I had the same issue. The image based motion detection just is not ideal for this use outdoors. It works well indoors where you don't have wind or car headlights usually. I ended up setting up PIR motion detectors outdoors in conjunction with a Raspberry Pi running Domoticz. Configuration was not at all easy, but I'm much happier with the alerts I'm getting now. Just getting Domoticz setup as well as adding the motion detectors to it was a chore. Then there was the added hassle of handling the motion events in Domoticz to trigger an HTTP request to a node server I setup, which then made a call to Blue Iris itself.

I used these motion detectors and this z-wave adapter in the setup.

If you can plug both the PC and the camera into the router, that would be ideal. PoE injector will work for the power, or ideally, get a PoE switch to provide the power and connect both (PC and cam) to the switch, then switch to router. Example of cheap PoE switch. I run everything off PoE switches here - it just works.

FWIW:

One of the users on here had recommended Dahua 5231 which I bought from "Empire Andy" (he's popular on IPCamTalk forum) which has 1-way audio - like you, I'm still looking for that "perfect" 2-way audio to use with Blue Iris.

Initially, I bought a single 5231 to replace Nest in my garage, and it's been perfect, so I just bought another to replace Ring's subscription on my porch (I'll still use Ring for "calls" and 2-way like what you're trying to accomplish,) but going to just record locally until I can find similar to what you're trying to find.

You could try to drop the framerate on the cameras to like 10fps and see if that makes a difference. But 4 1080p cameras streaming constantly at 30fps on wifi is never going to work well.

He was lying...but no single wifi router can handle that nicely. you would need to spread the load out across multiple wireless APs. This is why you are ALWAYS better going with wired cameras (PoE) is idea.

Since you already have BlueIris and the PC, you may look into some cheap outdoor wired cameras such as Reolink. You can get outdoor rated PoE cameras for ~$60: https://smile.amazon.com/Reolink-Security-Megapixels-2560x1440-Detection/dp/B01B4BKJOK/

u/Stoney7713 · 2 pointsr/BlueIris

That's because Amcrest are not unique, most are simply rebranded Hik, Dahua, and other cameras.

If you can get Amcrest cameras on sale most are well worth it. Retail pricing is a bit high though.

Here is an Amcrest 4k turret often hits for sub $100 with coupon just have to watch and wait.

The cameras that don't work for me are Amcrest Ultra HD 2K Dual Band, IP3M-941B running:

Software Version V2.620.00AC003.3.R, Build Date: 2019-08-03
WEB Version 3.2.1.619604
ONVIF Version 16.12(V2.4.1.513183)

Amazon Link. I did upgrade these to the latest firmware.

The ones that DO work are Amcrest ProHD 1080P WiFi Camera 2MP IP2M-841B running:

Software Version 2.520.AC00.18.R, Build Date: 2017-06-29
WEB Version 3.2.1.453504
ONVIF Version 2.42(V2.2.2.428697)

Amazon Link. These are running an older firmware, I haven't upgraded them since they're working just fine, including PTZ.

Edit: Try this fix.

I’m using a Dericam 1080P indoor Wifi camera for exactly this purpose since February and I’m pretty happy with it. You can pan/tilt via Blue Iris but it has no optical zoom.

Apologies, I didn't realize that was a requirement. While the Reolink cameras speak ONVIF, the Reolink NVR only works with Reolink cameras. My guess is, their financial model depends on everything being sold as a package.

This is the one I have: https://www.amazon.com/Surveillance-Supported-Security-Recording-RLK8-410B4/dp/B01AHXEHSU
