I thought long and hard about finally pulling the trigger on Star Wars: Imperial Assault. I've been wanting that game for quite some time, and was really just waiting for it to finally be discounted. With this special, I was able to get it for $71 total after tax because a local retailer was selling it discounted. However, the more I thought about it, the more I realized that my wife, who is my primary gaming partner, just isn't going to be that into it, so in the end, I decided against it.

Instead, I got Detective: A Modern Crime Board Game and Sherlock Holmes Consulting Detective: The Thames Murders & Other Cases. Walmart had them both for about $35 each, so in total after tax, I got both for $62.74. I've never played a mystery game like these, but I did very thoroughly enjoy Tom Clancy's The Division: New York Collapse, which was a supplementary book that tied into the popular video game. I was already a mega fan of the game, but I was especially surprised at how fun that book was. Basically, it's primarily written as a survival guide, but it's supposed to look like a used copy you found during the apocalypse. It contains notes from the previous owner speculating about what caused the disease outbreak and her geneticist husband's role in the whole debacle. But most importantly, the survival guide actually contains hidden messages encoded throughout predicting the apocalypse, and it's up to the reader to finish deciphering the clues with help from the previous owner's notes. So it's this incredibly deep layered meta experience where you're reading a survival guide, piecing together clues, solving puzzles, and learning about the outbreak and characters. It's arguably the best video game tie-in media ever created, but I'm guessing it didn't make much of a splash because it comes across as a really niche product for hardcore fans. However, as soon as I heard about those 2 mystery games, they immediately reminded me of that book, and I knew I had to get them at some point. I'm glad I was able to pick them up for such great prices with this promotion.

> I was able to use it for the pre-order of the D&D Dungeon Master's Guide. I think people did get it to go on a few board games, but it's probably a try and see type thing.

Five left at posting. This is a 3rd party seller with currently only 25 reviews in the last year, but 100% positive and hundreds of lifetime reviews so I don't think there's any risk here.

There's another third party with Prime seller at a penny more, and a non-Prime third party seller with free shipping at a dime or so above that. (And a non-Prime seller below the posted price, but no reviews, so caveat emptor.)

I'm not entirely sure but a quick Wikipedia search shows that it probably isn't.

The set specifically comes with the base set, one expansion, and 12 of the wardecks. Wikipedia says there is 18 total wardecks, and also The Great Devourer expansion that isn't included.

HOWEVER, if my googlfu shopping skills are correct, this is still a fairly great deal, especially if you use the ebay link with free shipping.

The 12 wardecks alone are also available for $34.95. Amazon has individual wardecks for around $7-15 each, and D&A has them for $7 each. So even at D&A's prices, it would cost ~$84 to buy them all individually.

The two main sets, the base set, and Leigons expansion seem to be about ~$24 on Amazon, and about ~$25 on D&A.

So if you were to buy both sets and the 12 wardecks without the bundle, it would be over ~$120.

Honestly I just like posting smile links and I always pull out any extra info without thinking about it too much.

Either the info in the referral code was incorrect (e.g. someone copy and pasted the link from their browser and already got referred from an ad, etc.) or someone is trying to monitor traffic from this specific link. Even if nobody is making money off of it, I prefer the privacy of anonymity if nothing else. It's much more that I just shorten links out of habit.

I just visited this site in an incognito browser:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CXG6C9W/ref=s9_acsd_al_bw_c_x_2_w?pf_rd_m=ATVPDKIKX0DER&pf_rd_s=merchandised-search-2&pf_rd_r=49CB05S34GV4TEQR40AR&pf_rd_r=49CB05S34GV4TEQR40AR&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=363fd2ff-dd2c-47dd-a3f8-cdc869e36adc&pf_rd_p=363fd2ff-dd2c-47dd-a3f8-cdc869e36adc&pf_rd_i=6669702011

but if I were going to share it, I would send:

https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B07CXG6C9W/

I haven't bothered to look at how the links to specific searches/departments/etc. urls are generated so they get trimmed less. My original link likely has extraneous info, but my product links are nice and tidy.

EDIT: Also, I personally look at the url before visiting, so I figure if I'm going to shorten it for myself I might as well share it while I'm at it.

That one looks good, especially at that price. At the moment, I'm a fan of the Rothco bags from Amazon, specifically this one and this larger version. They're both in that same price range and work great. I can generally get four full sized games in the smaller version with a bunch of smaller games around the sides. The large version holds a ton of games, generally more than I'm ever interested in carrying. They don't have backpack straps, which is a nice feature of the cajon bag, but can use a shoulder strap. Meeple Mountain did a pretty good review of the larger version, which gives an idea of how much it can hold, etc.

Just saw your shoulder comment. Obviously, these wouldn't help with that. Loaded up with games they can be on the heavy side.

That's actually pretty cool, thanks for sharing! I have what I think is the 4th edition (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0048G9LDE/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1).

Do you know if the Definitive Edition would be compatible to it?

u/FandomMenace · 4 pointsr/Boardgamedeals

Considering it reimplements sons of anarchy, you could just get that fantastic game for much cheaper (half as much and free shipping) and live with the difference in theme. If you want to pay double for the theme, go for it - it's based on a great game.

Deals almost always come back. Amazon intentionally creates a sense of urgency with deals to encourage people to buy. Check out this graph of pricing on 7 Wonders. Every time the price drops suddenly is probably a sale. In fact, that first dip to $30 probably seemed like a great deal - lowest price it had ever been! Then the price drops into that region or lower every three months or so.

So don't stress. Just be patient, there are always more deals.

Amazon has matched this deal. Per the Camel, it's a pretty good deal. Looks like it was $24 back in April briefly, but that's as low as it's ever gotten.

Thanks! I'm going to pick up a second core and add another Broken Token insert; I'm hopeful the two upgraded boxes plus those "Return to" storage boxes will hold a full set.

u/Professor_Hobbes · 3 pointsr/Boardgamedeals

Thanks OP! For those who don't know this is only $4 more than the cheapest sold on Amazon.

u/daveed2001 · 2 pointsr/Boardgamedeals

It's shipped by Amazon. Looking at this tracker it doesn't seem to be that the price drop is too outlandish. Plus it's Amazon so returns are pretty simple. I'd pull the trigger if I wanted it, that's why I posted it.

u/thebirdsandthebread · 2 pointsr/Boardgamedeals

Looks like there are two sellers. One of them is sold and shipped by Amazon, and the other one is fulfilled. Well anyways, in for one!

Edit: I searched the ASIN on google, and it pulled up the same page except with a different URL https://www.amazon.com/Mage-Wars-Academy-Forcemaster-Expansion/dp/B071RV13V8 . Might just be mislabeled? Seems to be the right price range for a Mage Wars Academy expansion.

u/Joepancreas · 1 pointr/Boardgamedeals

Looks like they've added the Players Handbook, now showing as about 20 bucks!

FWIW Amazon has this for $23 with same day shipping.
