I have a 150W 12V heater and also a 50W 110V heater plus an inverter.

Surprisingly the 50W 110V unit seems to do a slightly better job keeping the windshield fog free.

I also have an outlet timer, my plan for this winter is to leave the 50W heater on the dashboard overnight pointed at the windshield and have the timer turn it on an hour or so before I leave for work.

Seems like the lesson there is to get a high quality receptacle designed for multiple insertions. The first thread recommends the Hubbell HBL9450A, which is pretty pricey. I find it hard to believe a Leviton one would be fine since that is commonly seen at RV sites.

Also proper installation/wiring is key. All connections must be good so nothing gets hot, and cables should be of the proper thickness for the current drawn (6AWG in this case).

Also a of grease or dust getting onto the plug as that can reduce the contact area and cause heat.

(And amps can equate to heat if wiring is inadequate and thus overloaded.)

We ended up getting one of these. We tried the cheaper pouches, but if you use them lots they wear out:

VIERGUTZ Faraday Box, Car Key Fob Box, RFID Signal Blocker Pouch Anti-Theft case. Faraday cage Protector (Black Horizontal) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07Q3YM6J9/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_-VdxDb9DEP4CW

Kind of silly though, when it would be better if it just had a 2-cent off switch on the fob. I don't need it to be continuously transmitting signal.

I bought a little L shaped 3.5 mm audio adapter that is about 1 inch long. I have that plugged into the aux plug and then have set the audio source to AUX. Whenever I start the car it goes to Aux and plays no sound, then when I plug in my iPhone it automatically goes to Carplay and plays that source. Works fine, I just wish I could find a 3.5 mm plug that was even shorter (1/4 inch just straight out from the hole would work great).

We use one in our Bolt and my wife loves it. It has quite a long cable and its fairly large.

This is the one we use: Electric Car Blanket- Heated 12 Volt Fleece Travel Throw https://www.amazon.com/dp/B006A1PGDE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apap_UxL9KRTDp7UIJ

Bought this for $300 and it's working well

MUSTART Level 2 Portable EV... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B077DC39J9?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Best of my utility company gives a $250 rebate for putting in the L2 charger. Could have gotten a "free" 16a charger that was listed at $220 but I figured I have 32a why not get all of it?

I second the Roav nomination. I have THREE Roav A1in my Bolt, Front, Rear, and Charge Port.

I've had them about a year and have had zero issues. I've pulled numerous incidents off the cameras and posted them online for my friends.

I paid about $43 each for them from Amazon.

Also, be sure you get good SD cards. Bad cards lead to no video when you really need it. I have these Samsung Evo Selects and have not had one fail yet.

Unfortunately, we do not currently make custom fit Cargo Liners to fit over the false floor of the Chevy Bolt. The only thing I can think of recommending is our Universal Cargo Liners.

A 240V/50A "RV" or "generator" extension cord costs half as much as a J1772 extension cord. So make sure you get a plug-in EVSE and you can plug it in to the extension cord instead of the wall, then have 15-25 more feet from the EVSE itself, totaling 25-55 feet from outlet to car.

If you can deal with not having a timer, we've got a big sale on the Bosch Powermax 2 30 amp 18'. Brand new, UL-listed, original warranty, they just come in a unbranded box. $499

The Bolt has an oddly tall/narrow windshield. I got this:
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07BLZ789D/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_Vx3ZCbDYQ2VRR

It fits realatively well in my Premiere with them turned in a vertical orientation.

I have a NEMA 14-30 outlet (4 prog dryer) in the garage but i still use a NEMA 14-30 25ft extension cord so I can get the EVSE closer to where I want it. I purchase a Clippercreek that already has a NEMA 14-30 plug. Here is the extension cable I used https://www.amazon.com/AC-WORKS-30Amp-Extension-4-Prong/dp/B01MRC08Q8/ref=sr_1_cc_2?s=aps&ie=UTF8&qid=1550371611&sr=1-2-catcorr&keywords=nema%2B14-30%2Bextension%2Bcord&th=1

You know, I've considering trying to get 2.8-ish kW out of a TT-30 by using a step-up transformer in line, to turn it from 120x30 to a 240x15. Something like this should work:
https://smile.amazon.com/LiteFuze-LT-5000-Voltage-Converter-Transformer/dp/B008GQTXS0

The idea being, split the 120v into two-phase 240v and cutting the current in half. You trick the Bolt into pulling about twice as much power from the outlet.

I looked up the MUSTART portable Level 2 charger on Amazon, is this what you're referring to?

If so, I have two questions:

  • Did you get the 32A or 40A version? Just asking because there's another Amazon verified purchase customer who claims to have gotten the 40A version for their Chevy Bolt 2019, but as the official docs say (and you said yourself), the Chevy Bolt 2019 maxes out its pull at 32A.

  • Do you plug in directly to a NEMA14-50 drop on the wall, or did you get one of those NEMA14-50 to 120V adapters like this one?
