She started beekeeping as a hobby about 5 years ago. My dad had hives when we were little but the neighborhood kids wrecked them all the time so he gave up. If you do any research on honeybees at all...it's absolutely fascinating. The hive is it's own world, totally self sufficient as long as pollen sources are available. Our area is particularly attractive to honey aficionados. There isn't any commercial agriculture here so the honey is of a very high standard.

If anyone is interested, there are a lot of things you can do besides having active hives. Plant good pollen sources in your yard etc. It's important to ask your local nursery for plants that haven't been treated with pesticides. They travel through the plant and are detrimental to honeybees. Also, if you happen to have an infestation, don't just call an exterminator, see if there are beekeepers in your area that can cut the hive out and relocate them. Honeybees are essential to keep our food supplies adequate. Sorry for the wall of text, but her passion for honeybees is infectious!

This is the one I have and I love it! It's super light weight (except for what you put in it of course) and the lid locks so it's easier to transport for pot lucks and things. It takes up quite a bit of room but I usually store it when I'm not using it. I'm a huge fan of crockpots because I usually run out of energy in the evenings but I do love to cook.

Entirely off topic, but Chrissy Teigen's cookbook is fucking phenomenal. She has no business making such good food (she's a model married to a musician), but we've made more stuff that's awesome from her cookbook than we have from almost any other on our shelf.

I think your comment just made me think of it because she's a Teigen is a housewives superfan, and also she does play to her strengths. She's apparently got some solid stock of food recipes and focused on that with her book.

Crafty friends, I need help! I have a tiny (1inch) flower that I've pressed in paper in a stack of books for weeks. I want to seal it in something and put it in a locket. What would I use to do this and how?

WEIRD! It's not on the website but it's this one Maybe it's been discontinued, I bought it a while back online but started using it just recently. Shit I might have to stock up!! (And it says "lotion" on mine too but it's definitely a toner.) But the main ingredient is the Salicyclic Acid, so honestly just go to the drugstore and find whatever you like with the highest percentage of that in it. The big difference for me was I'm doing it 3-4 times or more a day now, especially before and after the gym and the shower after I've sweat and the pores become nice and ready to get clean!

i commented the same above, but you should definitely read this book, especially if you're interested in learning about introverts vs. extroverts. it was really eye-opening for me, and i wish i could make every single one of my coworkers read it.
