If you can get you hands on this book, it's really good for a generally more modern perspective on the whole thing. It's also a really well written tale too.

But the TLDR of it is, the tech of modern warfare means the traditional feudal command system can be superseded by a sort of distributed/local democracy, allowing forces to react much quicker and more effectively when all members are treated as equals and the command decisions are based on tactical merit instead of a level of authority.
I spent a few months researching headphones, ended up settling with this http://www.amazon.com/Takstar-Monitor-Headphone-Gaming-Computer/dp/B009PIQUB6 for the price. Good reviews.
what do you think of these rocko? Someone recommended them in this thread:

I have the Sony MDR-NC60 headphones and the Audio Technica AT-2020, (with shockmount, popfilter, and stand of course) Headphones have good sound and the mic does too, the end. No but seriously, the Headphones have really detailed bass and directional 5.1 surround, they are fairly portable too with the leather case the come with, and the mic has little to no background noise even by my windy computer. (because the "Cardioid polar pattern reduces pickup of sounds from the sides and rear, improving isolation of desired sound source" something like that, I'm no expert, I just copy pasta from amazon.)

4/5 stars thousands of reviews.
If you ever decide to get a new mouse, I recommend the Mad Catz R.A.T 9. Similar to the Thermaltake but much more adjustable.

Keyboard: Wood (Bamboo) Keyboard
Mouse: Uh, Some logitech cheapie (corded) - the model number is long worn off.
Monitors: 2x Dell Ultrasharp 23" , 1x Dell Ultrasharp 27" (primary)
Chair: Herman Miller Aeron
Headphones: Shure SRH840 (big & comfy, and isolate very well - circum-aural as I can't stand having things press on my ears for long)
Mic: Clip-on no-name cheapie. Still sounds decent.
PC Spec, fwiw: Intel i5 Gen 3 ~2Ghz, 16GB RAM, AMD R9 270 2GB, 256GB OCZ Vertex 3 (maybe 4) 256GB.
(I'm not infront of it at the moment, and I've long stopped memorising model numbers of everything I own)

Mine's a 27" with GSync.
Pros:
Big screen is nais.
Going from 60hz to 144hz is a difference like night and day.
4k resolution is fancy, but you need a motherfucker of a CPU/GPU combo (1050ti does not have enough balls) to run ps2 at high frames in 4k (text becomes teeny teeny tiny).
Got a hella fully sik deal on it and paid $330 on secondhand market.
Cons:
If you can't get a sik deal it's gonna hurt in the wallet.
I find the GSync almost completely useless (This one's a personal preference, screen-tearing has never really bothered me).
DisplayPort connection only (HDMI to DisplayPort converters leave you capped at 30fps unless you buy what's called an "active" HDMI->DisplayPort which will set you back $120-$150 which is cooked).
