just checked, Bromptons post-2017 have 6mm bore, and Bromptons pre-2016 have 5mm bore for the rack version, not sure about the non-rack version.

You may need 5mm spacers instead, better measure before purchasing

most Inline-Skate(let's be more precise cuz roller-blade is not the only brand out there) wheels have standard 608 size bearings with 8mm bores.

So you will need to buy spacers(converter, sleeve, adapter... doesn't really have a specific name i guess)to fit the wheels. If your bolts are too short, you will need longer bolts as well.

The stock bolts are 25mm for the ones on the frame and 40mm for the ones on the rack. stock 40mm bolts will be good enough to fit the wheels, but if you are using a rack, you will need two more extra 55mm bolts as the skate wheels are usually 22~24mm thick.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003AOGJ3A (this is just a random link I googled to show you what those are, again, you need to get ones with the right size)

Order any inline-skate wheel of your favor, larger wheels are a lot more easier to roll and have less chance for your Brompton to tilt and scratch the ground, but depending on your riding style, oversized wheels may actually interfere your pedaling, so don't get something ridiculously big. if you wish the wheel to last longer, look for harder ones.

Might be a bit late but here's what I have.

  • Front light to see is a Cateye Volt 200. TBH I can barely see with it, but I ride only in the city and the streets are lit anyways.

  • Front light to be seen is some random flashing light (similar to this one). Doesn't light up the road at all, it's more so that other road users see me

  • Rear light is some cheapo one off amazon. It's cool because it cycles flashing red, blue, purple which I feel really catches your eye. I don't know if it's illegal because someone might confuse it with the police.

I feel like I should get button lights to put on things like my bag or helmet, but also don't think it's really that necessary in the city where it's lit up anyways.

I've been wanting to upgrade my Brompton to have a Dynamo in the front wheel and upgrade the light (as can be seen in this reddit post) but haven't had the money to yet. When I asked my local Brompton mechanics they said I'd have to wait for the autumn sale to end before they can give me a price (wtf?)

Definitely check out GCN's video on lights! https://youtu.be/BjXDSASTJn0

Oh I also want to get a helmet that has indicators inside of them like this or this. And something to laser print a bike lane behind me like this one with integrated indicators (colleague has one and it's pretty neat)

CAT EYE - BM-45 Bar End Bike Mirror, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B011DLUBIK/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apip_EIHxX5AiZ7y8d

That’s the mirror I am using on the bike. It still folds and rolls in cart mode with it on. I do think the rack is worth it despite the weight.

I’ll have the bike a year in September and while I have bought some accessories I haven’t splurged in any upgrades as of yet. I would consider upgrading to a pedal that has better traction or adding the plastic sleeve to it others have mentioned on the forums. Titanium seat post might make sense for a little more suspension.

I’m very happy with the bike. It’s my primary transportation. I’ll consider getting an electric brompton this fall, once I test drive it. I’ll likely keep this one and not sell it even though my dealer would take it on trade.

Haven’t had any repair or maintenance issues. It even a flat tire. (Knock on wood)

My plan once I’ve had it a year is to take it in and have new tires and new cables put on to refresh the bike a bit. I’ll replace the chain and that’s about it.

Hope that helps you in your decision.

The EZ wheels here are really meant for the 'R' edition...as in with 'rack', so no mudguard to think about.

When I read your original post, I was also thinking why not have the dealer address the issue first, then you go for a better solution like this...

https://www.amazon.com/Re-designed-Multi-S-Mudguard-Brompton-Bicycles/dp/B01GDLJ85C

Can't imagine any Brompton dealer would let a non-functioning roller go out the door on a new bike.

On Amazon.com the Most helpful Customer Comment for the Topeak Joe Blow Sport II Floor Pump at the top of the page has only two stars:

>186 of 191 people found the following review helpful

>cheapo materials

>By iiigoiii on June 17, 2011

>there's a couple of problems with these pumps, as other reviewers have pointed out for this pump and the original sport.

>- the head can be difficult to get a seal with, especially on the presta side. it may take several tries before being able to get air to flow,

>- the dual head is large, making it difficult to get onto smaller wheels with closer spokes,

>- the hose material is a cheap plastic, not rubber - it quickly starts to crack wherever it's bent (near the outlet and where it's stored over the handle) and soon blows out.

>their support company, todson, refuses to warranty the hose even though it's a material defect. instead of paying them a third to half the cost of a new pump, get 3/16" fuel line from your local auto parts store. fits perfectly, will last a lifetime, and only costs about two bucks!

This review, and the 186 people who agree with it, gives me cause for concern, particularly with the small Brompton wheels, hence why I am on here looking for input. :-)

I looked into it when I first got the bike but seemed like a pretty uncomfortable solution so I generally use the trolley wheels if I'm moving the folded bike anywhere. This has since come out but I'm not sure how good it actually is.
I'll be interested in the other replies in the thread!

I've got one of these: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Outeredge-inch-Folding-Bike-Bag/dp/B0011FERCA/ref=sr_1_7?keywords=folding+bicycle+bag&qid=1557835525&s=gateway&sr=8-7

Bad points: it's not padded

Good points: there's an internal seperator pocklet so you can pack other stuff in there and it will be clean, plus the pocket it all packs down into is available on the outside of the bag when in use. Finally as well as having a useful shoulder strap and handles, the buckled straps when the bag is folded down and in its pocket make it very easy to attach to either the handlebars or the saddle of a Brompton. Wouldn't use it for flights but for coach journeys etc it's perfect.

Well-packed gravel is no problem. Done plenty of that. You'd be surprised at how well the suspension block works. Not as taint punishing as you would think. The only thing I would recommend is a smaller front chainring, and larger flat peddles, like Lambdas.

When you start doing single track type stuff at speed, that gets sketchy. But honestly, they're pretty robust fucking bikes.

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0081UT5U2/ - I use this chain ring

https://www.amazon.com/MKS-Lambda-Easy-SUPERIOR-Silver/dp/B002YQ44GE/ - and these peddles (most of the time) They are detachable.

The hinge clamp http://www.rideabikes.com/bicycle/bike_view.php?ProductsID=308

It’s better than the original because it stays align when you open the hinge.

I forgot where I got the water bottle holder. It’s also a GoPro mount on the top.

The kickstand is actually made for the Birdy folding bike. But it fits the Brompton. With the child seat, I need the kickstand.

I have a Gub aluminum mount on my Brompton and also on my other bikes. It fits perfectly on the Brompton and holds the phone securely. It comes with plastic adapters to fit the diameter of the Brompton handlebars as well. This is the link to the Canadian Amazon site but I bet you can find it many places since it is sold by many many companies with different names.aybe it will work for you? I've been eyeing the QuadLock but it is just so expensive.

I currently have 2 rear lights mounted on my Brompton. The saddle light, and this light.

I never turn the Cateye Saddle light on, I just use the Smart Bike Tail Light. I would take the mini saddle light off, but I would just lose it and it's not really in the way.

The Smart Light flashes when it senses movement and when you brake, it turns solid and brightens. I leave it on automatic.

The Trelock LS 812 is a form fit replacement for the rear reflector no modification necessary. I've just bought one not ultrabright but plenty good enough:

I bought these. Everyone loves that they light up. KSS 82A Skate Rollerblade Light Up LED Inline Wheels with ABEC 9 Bearings (4 Pack), 76mm, Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01GOEHXKA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_4J9ZBb9Y8EVMP

Get a Monkii cage. It can adjust to hold just about any water bottle or cup. It has a small in profile clip that can always stay on the bike but the rest can easily be taken off and put back. But even with the whole assembly you can fold the bike.

Its a Moon Comet X front light. Good thing about it is I dont need to move it for the fold and it stays out of the way.

Hmm. You might be able to rig something up with a Brompton bag frame (probably one of the ones without a handle) for clipping into the carrier block, a clamp-on laptop stand like this, and possibly some bits of plywood that you can place over the corners of the bag frame and pinch them together on the frame with the clamp so you have a big enough surface to clamp to stably.

Not sure how sturdy/stable that will be, or whether the dimensions are right, but it seems like a relatively simple thing to try out.

u/jibanes · 1 pointr/Brompton

Thinking about it, I only removed the tubes with the lever, not used it to put it back.
Yeah, 5 in a row is what got me to start the thread.

Is this the one you're talking about?

Frankly, it seems overpriced seriously.🤔 Simple velcro straps for cables would provide the same functionality for a fraction of the price.
