It's a two person job, but my house is laid out pretty well so I had access to most vents easily.

My recommendations are:

-Feed cables down hill as much as possible, gravity is your friend

-Electrical tape around the end of the cable, to protect the contacts and stop the clip from bending and snapping off or getting hung up

-I had some old household electrical wire laying around so I peeled out about 5 feet of the solid stiff ground wire, then bent a hook on one end to help get into corners and tight spots. A coat hanger would work pretty well too

-There was one point that I had to exit through the side of one of the ducts. I drilled a half inch hole in the side of the duct and used some foil tape to patch the hole back up once the cable was through

-Anywhere the cable exited a duct I wrapped about 6 inches in either direction with a few layers of electrical tape for some added protection

If you had any other questions I'd be glad to help!

Good work, your cable management is excellent!

I have a couple of recommendations for you build:

I'd recommend buying a new CPU cooler when you can. The Intel ones are good, but there are so many better ones on the market.

Try this one - I used it in my build for like 3 years. Keeps temps down and fans quiet.

Another thing you may consider is an SSD. You'd be surprised by how cheap they are right now. Here is a 480Gb SSD for only $118 USD.

And as /u/nolo_me said, definitely flip that PSU if it's not too much trouble. Better performance, better sound, better temps.

u/Theguywitharock · 3 pointsr/CableManagement

First I would say to try to have the cables go straight across to their connectors, like instead of having the sata cables going diagonal, this will help give it a better look. Secondly I would recommend checking out something like a cablemod kit to make the cables the same color, so that the cable you do see looks nicer

They can be picked up fairly cheap:

CableMod Basic Cable Extension Kit - 8+6 Pin Series (Black/White) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01N6F4WTA/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_PSbZDbJ4HQ83R

I would also ditch the red sata cable and go with black or white to fit your theme:

Cable Matters 3-Pack 90 Degree Right Angle SATA III 6.0 Gbps SATA Cable (SATA 3 Cable) Black - 18 Inches https://www.amazon.com/dp/B018Y2LEBE/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_GVbZDbEM0D6K7

Edit: I would also say try to neatly bundle all those cables going to the bottom right of the motherboard with velcro or zip ties and try to tuck them along the edge so you have one neat run.

Ps. Nice build!!

Your post may be deleted for violating Rule 2 just FYI.

Here are my recommendations though:

  • Mount the surge protector under your desk using heavy duty double stick tape or screws if it has keyholes
  • For your keyboard/mouse cables. If you're willing, the best way is to drill a hole just large enough that they can fit through. Drill it underneath where your large mousemat is. Then cut a tiny slit in the mousemat for them to come through. You can then feed them under down through and under the desk.
  • Mount your USB hub under the desk on the front off to the left or right side from where you sit using command strips or double stick tape. Easy access to plugin items when needed and just unplug devices when not using. If you're using the ports 100% of the time, it may be better to mount it under the desk towards the back out of the way. I use mine only for short term things like pluging in a headset, SD card reader, etc. So when I'm done I just unplug them and it's clean.
  • Under the desk you're going to want to buy some cable clamp type things. Depending on your types of wires you may need a few different sizes. I've bought tiny ones for single thin cables, medium ones for a usb or two, and xlarge ones for power cords/hdmi/multiple cables
  • Depending on your situation, you could also pick up the IKEA Signum rack for under the desk to help with things, or a J Channel cableracewaytype sitution
  • With all of the management and running things under the desk, I personally found I needed to buy a few extenders for different things. So I had to pick up a couple of USB 3 extension cables, as well as a couple of power extension cables so I could get things all cleanly routed then down/up at one single point to the outlet or computer.

Any other questions just ask. I could always take pictures of my setup and under the desk if it would help, just PM me for those.

You can get these cables from EVGA through amazon, but the best color setup from their options with the parts you have is a black/red cables (they lack white solid, white/black, or white/red).

That said, you could do custom manufactured cables from a specialized company (if you have $$$) or make them yourself. Doing them yourself is the most affordable and feels very rewarding, but I would warn you that it can take a lot of time.

Good luck!

I can't say, I haven't bought a Windows key yet. I'll update you once I start using it. I'm sure it's going to be awesome though if it works as it says it should

EDIT: Here again after 4 days, the capture card is awesome. I opened the software and it instantly started working amazing for me.

My biggest pet peeve though for sure is the file sizes, I don't like big files but I was capturing at 1080p60. Also I would recommend buying a super short HDMI so you don't have a giant mess hanging off your PC.

Here is a 6 inch cable which still even seems long but I couldn't find a shorter one

u/Retrosmith · 2 pointsr/CableManagement

Oh yeah. Just about any outdoor carpet tape will do the job but this is about the strongest I've found. It's also thick and spongy so it will form to fill any small voids in whatever you're securing. Be advised it's sticky enough that it's not the easiest to work with though, difficult to get the plastic backing off but it's very strong.

I usually use Duck brand for applications that don't require that much adhesive strength just because it's a lot easier to work with and a lot cheaper.

Phanteks Enthoo Evolv is popular, especially the Tempered Glass versions and that case comes in white, grey and black. These run from around $160 - 210 depending on which model and color)

There's also the Phanteks Enthoo Pro full tower case, do note that full towers are larger than ATX mid-towers. The Enthoo Pro comes with many rubber grommets and a PSU shroud and it's $99.

If you're trying to save a few bucks I think the NZXT S340 at $67 is a good choice as it's aesthetically pleasing with it's simple design, but it lacks rubber grommets and instead has a shroud that covers the cables, this case also has a PSU shroud with 2.5" drive (SSD) mounts.

If you want rubber grommets and a PSU shroud the Corsair Carbide Clear 400C would be a solid choice at $98.

I currently have the Corsair Obsidian Series 750D which I consider a good case but for the money there are better cases. Though it lacks a PSU shroud which may be a deal breaker for some. I'm actually using a semi-modular PSU as well, a holdover from my old Ivy Bridge build that I upgraded from (I have a PSU on the way) and the mess really shows on my case despite my best efforts to deal with it. http://i.imgur.com/3TiUAsG.jpg

For PSUs I have the EVGA SuperNOVA 850 P2 ordered, and I'll probably sleeve or buy some cables for it whenever I find the time to bother with it. The one I ordered is a bit expensive since it's 80+ Platinum rated. They have a 80+ Gold rated 750W unit which is $90 (the 650w one is $10 cheaper) EVGA, BitFenix and possibly others sell premade sleeved cable kits for ~$80 if you really want to keep it organized.

Corsair has a large lineup of power supplies of varying wattage, and Corsair sells sleeved cable kits for their fully modular power supplies as well. Corsair sells so many models I don't even know where to start they have their RM/RMi/RMx series, the AX/AXi, HX, SF so I'd check reviews to see if they meet your needs.

The Corsair and EVGA PSUs tend to be competitively priced so it's mostly down to which one is on sale (if any) and reviews.

The Seasonic M12II 620 BRONZE is a 620 watt, 80+ Bronze rated, fully modular power supply with a pair of 24 amp rails for $70. They also sell a 750W version that is $90 but you're better off going for an 80+ Gold PSU for a few dollars more since you'll end up making that money back via it's electricity savings.

If you have a lot of fans make sure to get a PMW splitter/hub otherwise you'll have some half dozen cables all over the palace plugged in to your motherboard, and my advice is to group cables together, either with twist ties or velcro cable ties (IMHO zip ties are too much of a PITA to undo). Route cable to the back, group them and tie them down. A PSU shroud allows you to be a bit lazy since it's a nice cubby-hole to hide your mess.

u/Aquilo_ · 4 pointsr/CableManagement
  • Try to get modular, or semi-modular PSU.

  • First decide on what goes where and what is more likely to get removed. Example, I have routed my 6pin gpu cables last in case I need to change them to 8 pin if when I get that gtx 980 :P

  • Don't bundle/zip-tie too many independent things together. I did that with my fan cables and the SATA cables. Never again.

  • Get some of these and these

  • Try to experiment with different cable routes to maximize the run of longer cables.

  • Don't be afraid to play a bit with the PSU cables to make them more flexible.

  • Hide some stuff in the 5.25" bays. I bought a 5.25 to 3.5 adapter and put my SSD and HDD there and then drilled out the HD bay (took like 5 minutes) to make it look cleaner and improve airflow of front fans.

Here is my rig before I moved the drives and added a second gpu.
u/EMoneySC2 · 3 pointsr/CableManagement

A fair amount of zip ties, indeed. I feel like there are a billion in my PC, as I used them with things like this for ultimate cable management potential.

u/Angrypolska · 2 pointsr/CableManagement

This is the 5.25" adapter I used from Amazon....

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005OJFASY/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

Even if you're running an optical drive, you should still be able to fit this in there too. Definitely makes for a cleaner build with removing drive cages.

u/UristMcHolland · 2 pointsr/CableManagement

You could use one of these to move that HDD up to your 5.25 bays and then remove all the HDD bays on the bottom. You would probably get increased air flow too. You could probably do without the fan you have on the HDD cage now or you could move it to the bottom of the case afterwards.

Looks good!

THose green cables are actually just cable extensions. I find them to be useful rather than buying specific cables per power supply. You can find these exact cables here: www.amazon.com/uphere-Sleeved-Cable-extension-extra-sleeved/dp/B074M6X4FB/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1525298386&sr=8-8&keywords=cable+extensions+green+pcie

Not sure, new to building and cable management myself. Google "zip tie mounts", those seemed to help me. Only $8 for 100.

EDIT: [Here they are.] (http://www.amazon.com/Startech-HC102-Adhesive-Cable-Mounts/dp/B00008VFBE)

Damn, I thought that's what they were called I guess the actual term is self adhesive zip tie mounts, here you go fam. Cheers.

Has not come off since putting it on around 2 months ago, not even a little sag. I used the 2 clips to hold each cable on each end and used 2x scotch to hold it up, can use more if you need.
