Alright, I'm getting everything in order for when I leave for basic next month.
On the annex kit list it says I will need a backpack. Can I use my sportsbag/dufflebag? (one with a strap and handle). I'll be using this to hold all my items while traveling.
For seasonal jacket, what qualifies? Rain jacket? For casual dress shoes I'm assuming sports shoes are ok.
Regarding the "other articles" portion:
Do you need to bring a razor with blades? Can you purchase this at the Canex? Would I be able to bring one of these? I haven't shaved without a electric razor in a while I'm assuming you can't bring one of those.
"Soap dish and toothbrush case (white)" where would I be able to purchase this?
In the wiki it says to bring your own Iron. Now that I'm looking at all the items were required to bring I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to fit all of this into my sportsbag/dufflebag. Should I be looking to purchase a bigger sports-bag so i'm able to bring all the required items?
Is there anything not on the list that you guys would recommend bringing? I asked my recruiting officer this and he said to bring a laptop so I don't get bored on the weekends. He also told me to bring snacks.
Also, will I be able to bring my fitbit (fitbit blaze) It's more like a smartwatch with a touch face and is water resistant. Will I be able to charge it for use daily?
Sorry for the long post I'm just trying to be prepared and not look like an idiot.
I've been wearing my Tachyon gtx's for a year now, they are fairly cheap, polish up nice, and have held up just fine. They probably weigh less than your running shoe, they breath like no other boot i have ever worn, have better support than you would think, and unless you are going in a river they will keep your feet dry while also drying fast themselves.
Note all of this is for the gortex version and not the normal, your feet will get wet in the normal version if it you get within 10 feet of a puddle. I haven't really found any cons for these boots and I have foot problems that warrant a chit. For the price I expected them to only last a year and then I would replace them but they have held up in the field just fine that I don't need to. They also look really nice with the uniform if you ask me.

As mentioned by u/jside86, something along these lines is a much better product than the shit daypacks, and you won't look like a tard.
The Taliban Don't Wave by Robert Semrau was an excellent book, and I would highly recommend it.
Conair Super Steam Hand Held Fabric Steamer. The sgt hates it.

Surefire/Peltor are awesome choices.
For over the ear I have a set of Howard Leights. I've use them for personal shooting and on the range, and they're not overly expensive. I bought them for around $45 when they were on sale.
Oregon Areo is good but the pads freeze in winter... which I found out the hard way.

Heard good things about Skydex and am looking to replace the pads I have for next winter.
https://store.skydex.com/helmet-pads
I had the issued one clip rust shut on me and had to cut it off, I am a sweaty bastard... A few MCPL's and above have seen my helmet and were more interested in what I thought of it and getting there own then giving me shit for modifying my issued gear.
I’ve been using Peltor’s and the Surefire earplugs for years, both have been great.
Peltor 6 S Headset No issues fitting under a helmet.
Surefire EP4
Surefire EP7
I'd suggest Crucial Conversations Tools for Talking When Stakes Are High, Second Edition . I found it to be a good introduction on how to lead firmly yet fairly. I used the methods a lot in my retail job but I'm not sure how well they will translate to military life haha.
I have some liner socks from Amazon that keep my feet dry on those rare occasions that I leave the safety of my desk. https://www.amazon.ca/Fox-River-Outdoor-Alturas-Ultra-Lightweight/dp/B000LGVM0U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1506550222&sr=8-1&keywords=liner%2Bsocks&th=1

This is what I use. It's cheap yet durable (it survived BMQ and BMQ L).

I enjoyed reading this book, he speaks on his time in Bosnia and Rwanda.
Ha! I showed you!
Ghostkeepers is written by a soldier who served in Sarajevo, offers a good point of view from the pointy end.
your wish is my command
https://www.amazon.ca/Uprising-Novel-Douglas-L-Bland/dp/1926577000
I'm not gonna claim it's good, but it exists.
Howard Leight Impact Sport! They fit under the helmet for me and cut out as required. Use them civy side and for work on the range.

To a certain extent spatial reasoning is something that is acquired throughout child development – but there are ways to train to mentally visualize and manipulate 2D and 3D objects.
If you want some tips and a shit load of sample spatial reasoning test questions and answers, get this book Spatial Reasoning Tests - The ULTIMATE guide to passing spatial reasoning tests. This should be sufficient to nail down most spatial reasoning questions on the test. If you want to become even better at these, learn the fundamentals of linear algebra.
Oh hey, that's me! A friend linked me this and said I'm famous now. Didn't realize this was going to be online as well; figured it was just the paper.
For those chiding me on my dress, I just want to add we'd been de-storing ship to go into the ditch for the last 3 months. I'd been hauling gross cave couches for a couple hours before this photo, and continued afterward. Woulda been kind of stupid to show up inspection-ready.
For any who might be interested, here's a couple amazon links. Witches Be Crazy and Astro-Nuts
Forgot the regimental ornaments.

I'll show myself out.
I'd give the Amazon ones a shot, they're like 10% of the price of actual Peltors, and I've never had an issue. I know quite a few guys who shoot with them. Worst comes to worst, Amazon has a good return policy, so you'd only be out the cost of shipping them back.
