Yeah, everyone who wants to maintain their battery (especially for storage and through cold weather) should put it on a battery tender. $40 will save you a new battery and many headaches.
Plus, you can get a usb adapter for the quick-disconenct that comes off your battery, or a voltage meter to check your battery status.
You know it sucks that one of the most fun things you can do with your clothes on is also dangerous. I hope that in the future you reconsider riding not because you feel you need to overcome your fear or prove a point, but more so that you remember that with life comes chance and danger, and that shouldn't stop you from doing something that brings you joy.
For my part I made sure to buy full insurance (collision, uninsured, underinsured, theft, the whole deal) for all my bikes because I understand that for the most part that there are a lot folks here in the city (and surrounding areas) that cannot afford or obtain, insurance or a license. I also have a helmet cam recording every commute in case there is any doubt about fault or if some jackass needs to be reported for almost killing me.
In case anyone asks I use a Drift HD720 its only about $100, comes with a removable battery that's good for about 2 hours of recording. The sound quality is atrocious mostly because of wind noise (I turn it off) but overall it's good for documenting and keeping folks honest.
Take the MRC!
