I put a folded sticky note under one side so the wires would be able to easily slide through the gears. It still works, just a tad dented. 30g, maybe 28g, would probably work fine, but I don't know what I could use corrugated round wire for. Got a few ideas, I've been trying to get what I like to refer to as "Stegosaurus Spines", it's basically an odd core build with a bump in the middle and parallel fuse keeping it all together. Everything I've ever tried is impossible to wrap into a coil:

I did two claptons with a stretched, decored 28 over 24g clapton on top, not in between, of those, fused with twisted 40g over the valleys of the spines, and I couldn't wrap it flat, just kept folding over.

Tried the three cores with a larger initial core, decored staggered clapton in the center, parallel fusing and it folded into a triangle when fusing and was impossible to wrap, but I did get a better understanding of parallel claptoning. It's just the only thing I've been able to think of, I just really wanna be the guy who made a build concept... even if it's crappy. I'm probably just romanticizing it in my head.

Yea just regular tap water it was the best 20 bucks I spent.

have you tried using something like this? It seems like it could work.

Rake across the coil with something stiff like you're strumming a guitar. This gets the hotspots out 10 times out of 10 for me. I have ceremic tweezers like this (different brand, same tweezer), and use the opposite end (as in the non-tweezing end) to do it.

I have this one and it's pretty sweet. Heated and the wire mesh basket will hang onto any screws that might drop out of your rda/rtas ultrasonic cleaner

here ya go its ok but id totally recommend getting a 10x to get both coils or 20x for single coil pics. 25x is a pain the photo i took was at the farthest the focus could go any its challenging to get the full coil in the pic.

basically the way it works already is the spool pretty much sits right up to the tool. There is never any messes or issues. i have a working prototype i made last night. Ill upload a video of how it works in a little bit. I haven't seen any other clapton tools with this kind of idea yet.
