Great episode!

If anybody is interested in the history of cryptography and how it works, I suggest checking out "The Code Book: The Science of Secrecy from Ancient Egypt to Quantum Cryptography" (Amazon link).

Although I haven't finished the book yet, I've found it very interesting so far. A good chunk of the book talks about cryptography in WWI and WWII, which I found pretty interesting. The Zimmerman telegram mentioned in this video is included in the book I believe.

I have always been fascinated with ancient Greece. I'm currently more than half way through Ancient Greece, Pomeroy et. al so a natural progression would be reading something on the roman empire.
I've been eyeing SPQR. It is a widely praised book, so it could be a good substitute of "The Storm Before the Storm", although it covers a wider period. "The Storm Before the Storm" also looks good, and I would be more than willing to read it. "Red famine" and "1491" also attracted my attention, I remember hearing about "1491" in Rogan's conversation with Colin.

Unbelievable work. One of my all time favorites.
I'd recommend checking these out as well:

Modern Macroeconomics by Brian Snowdon (Really good historical overviews of Economic thought)

Money, Bank Credit, and Economic Cycles by Jesus Huerta de Soto

Man, Economy, and State by Murry Rothbard

Economics in One Lesson by Henry Hazlitt (EXCELLENT if you are just beginning to study Economics)

Not sure if you are being sarcastic, but sure, why not?

^That is a good book that details how to build coherent arguments, and perhaps most importantly, should tell you why for a historian like Colin, artifacts of all sorts (yes, even those venerating the Confederacy built much later) are valuable and must be preserved.

That sounds super interesting. Do you think it sticks to bogus official stories (history written by the victors--like a typical US textbook)? Or does it go deeper? (I realize this is subjective, and I probably didn't word it well.)

On edit: Wow the reviews are great--

On edit: I'd be interested in hearing your opinion on the last portion of the book, which a lot of readers mention is weaker.

Would 8GB of RAM be enough to run Premiere, you think?

That's my only concern: Running Premiere. Everything else will way less intensive, and I dunno if it's just my Origin, but the thing is as hot as the sun when I run Premiere for too long. I have no idea how to even check this computer's specs. LOL.

I'm looking at this: https://www.amazon.com/Dell-XPS9360-3591SLV-Laptop-Generation-Silver/dp/B01LVZTWWX?th=1

EDIT: I figured it out. Seems my current '14 laptop is pretty meaty still: 16 GB of RAM, Intel Core i7 CPU @ 2.5 GHz, running Windows 10. Dunno if there's any other pertinent information.

I'm not sure about everyone else, but I tend to gravitate more towards biographies of politicians and presidents. They don't weigh down every page with politics but give a grasp on historical politics as well as understanding the lives of these figures in history and why they did what they did.

1-The bully pulpit is an excellent read on Teddy

2-Team of Rivals is one of the books that made Lincoln my favorite president of all time

I'm pretty sure it's Hell to Pay: Operation Downfall and the Invasion of Japan, 1945-1947 by G.M. Giangreco. It talks about the U.S. projections for how an invasion of Japan at the end of World War II would have gone, so some people use it as a case for why dropping the bomb was preferable (I haven't read the book so I don't know if the book itself makes this case).

Do you have a specific size that you want for the monitors? I am currently using 2 of these Vizio monitors and I've been very satisfied with them.
