Thanks, Wizard!
That Bushnell book appears hard to get. The library has an English version, but only for in-library use. Used copies are for sale... a little pricey for a book I don't know much about. I'll consider it for sure. Same for Puyana's book. Found only one possible English version copy on Amazon--looks to be bilingual judging by the cover. What do you think, worth the plunge?
Can't find an English version of Yunis's book.
Found La vendedora de rosas on YouTube - thanks! Very much looking forward to seeing it.
I requested Bolivar y yo from the library. That looks fantastic.
I guess my only outstanding question is whether you think Puyana's book is really worth getting. It's 400 pages, but maybe half is in English, half in Spanish
Hi, I'd like to help you in your search for places to visit. I know some really good guides of Colombia. They are the "Moon" Travel Guides - Colombia. These were written by an american guy called Andrew Dier. In them you can read about various places throughout the country and how to get there. Also you can find things like, special festivities such as carnavals and fairs and when to come.
Here is the link to it: http://moon.com/explore/colombia/
You can also buy the book on Amazon:

I hope you find it useful. Oh, by the way, the guy who wrote this guide came here just as a tourist and was so amazed by the country that he stayed here. Its been twelve years now.
Thank you so so so much for looking! Do you know if that Amazon link can ship to Colombia?
And you are right I was looking at the wrong thing originally, it looks like a box of 10 should cost $37

Also, I really appreciate the offer of bringing her the items, that is very considerate of you!
Looks like for now I'm going to try and sign up for that rumbos express shipping company.
The pharmacy closest to my house was closed. The one in Exito does not carry it. They recommended a hospital pharmacy, seems like it may be hard to find these particular bandages. About the price though, are these the bandages you're talking about: r/https://www.amazon.com/Biatain-Non-Adhesive-Dressing-Flexible-3410/dp/B005CZJ57M
If so, I can see how a box of 10 would cost $50.00 in Colombia. However you said $7.00, so maybe those aren't the same bandages you're talking about?
If it were me, and Amazon was the cheapest price, I would probably buy 4 boxes, or however many you want to send, free shipping to you from Amazon and hopefully they use a box that everything just fits in (as opposed to a huge, needlessly oversized box (had it happen). Then take it to USPS and see what they charge to ship it down here.
Too bad your gf isn't in Medellin, I'll be visiting the states next month and would bring them back down for you.
If you want a physical book, I'm fond of Secrets of Colombian Cooking (ISBN 0-7818-1025-6). 90% of what I know from Colombian cooking comes from my mother, 9% from her translating Gran Cocina Colombiana, and 1% from this book, but my very Colombian aunt swears by it. I can understand your predicament, my Spanish is atrocious, too. You can get it on Amazon here. The one thing I would note is that some ingredients (like masa harina / yuca harina) can be hard to come by, depending on where you live in the States.

amazon. (Whoops, that's a men's jersey - but it is a last resort option)

You are right, they are cheaper https://www.amazon.com/LEGO-Minifigure-18-Sealed-Random/dp/B07C86VFNC/ref=mp_s_a_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1550168597&sr=8-8&pi=AC_SX236_SY340_QL65&keywords=lego+minifigures&dpPl=1&dpID=61m%2BvxWxWSL&ref=plSrch vs https://www.tiendalego.com.co/index.php?route=product/product&product_id=445
Let me refrase that, why would you eat toxic, liver killing, awful tasting sweetener? Over delicious and healthy, if moderated, sugar
The works are poetry so it's hard to translate them. Partial English translations of Hāfez exist in verse. I don't know about their quality. You can check the Wikipedia article.
Of Ferdowsi's Shāhnāmeh there are no full English translations in verse but there is an okay translation in combined prose and verse by Dick Davis. It was reviewed by NPR.
