There are ways to get the onion flavor (which is pretty good in something like this) without any actual onions; dry onions are a big improvement (I just used that particular brand the other day), and it looks like onion powder would also work (no personal experience with onion powder, though I'd like to try it the next time I need an onion). For both of those, you should probably find a smaller/cheaper container locally, at least to start with. They should both have direct equivalencies to real onions on the package; the one linked to for dry onions is 2 tablespoons for every half cup of "real" onions, for example.

Meh, red meat should be eaten in moderation, this is not news. You can do a pretty effective stew or small roast in a small countertop oven
Sounds good. Question for you though, if I don't have a pan like the one you linked to, will a normal bread pan work. Something like this?
This is a great alternative to pam and the rest since you can keep using it forever with any oil you choose. Just takes a little bit to pump up to get pressure, the more times you pump it the finer the mist of oil it sprays.
