Not quite what you're looking for (used gear), but I've been doing just fine with a basic "all Triple K" rig of....

  • Two Cheyenne holsters ($73)

  • Slide on shot shell carrier ($30)

  • Slide on cartridge holder ($34)

  • Plain belt ($31)

    Total cost: $241.

Not cheap, but a lot less than the custom stuff and I've zero complaints about the quality.

My son runs similar equipment but saved a whopping $10 by going with a Hunter slide on cartridge carrier. Mostly I think he just didn't want a rig identical to mine.

And my loaner gear (for when I invite friends out)? Saves a bit more by skipping the cartridge holder, and going with a Vebstlife shot shell holder ($16) and a cheap Dickies work belt ($15) for a total cost of $175. Not nearly as nice, but hey, it's loaner gear!

Obviously, if you can pick up something used you can beat those prices but its equally obvious that it's going to be hard to predict what's out there. I'm also quite sure there are also cheaper rigs out there. But based on the homework I've done, it's going to be hard to beat the cost/quality combination of the Triple K stuff (although if someone knows of better I'm eager to be corrected!).

edit: While I've used Amazon links to show the gear, I ended up going directly through the Cowboy Shooting Store for the Triple K gear (same price as Amazon and I support small business when I can).

I usually see custom molded plugs. Not much for electronic because there’s not many out there that are active cancelling.

I use these for Cowboy Action Shooting. Not electronic noise canceling, but they’re very comfortable in my ears.

I posted about holsters some time ago and got a bunch of really good information. http://www.reddit.com/r/CowboyAction/comments/21x6zp/cowboy_action_holsters/

I was looking for an inexpensive set for my daughter to get started in the sport (I'm not sure if she is going to stick with it or not) and found this rig on amazon: http://www.amazon.com/Genuine-Leather-Western-Holster-GUNS4US/dp/B0077WO708/ref=sr_1_11?s=hunting-fishing&ie=UTF8&qid=1410969819&sr=1-11&keywords=GUNS4US+Inc.
I also had a link to some company in mexico who solds full double drop rigs for under $100. If you are interested, I can track down the link.

Most people I know use custom molded earplugs. Also you could do something like a behind the ear muffs like this: 3M Peltor Optime 105 Behind-the-Head Earmuffs, Hearing Conservation H10B https://www.amazon.com/dp/B009POJ1XY/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_ouYNBbZ35DDJT
