I'm sort of responding to you and the user below me.
I personally wouldn't say I fear having a special needs child, but just a nervousness about it. Them having a handicap doesn't make them less of a human... I see them as blessings in the sense that they're people who challenge us to genuinely love another person. Think about it: I work at a nice hotel on a lake, and have had some seemingly well off couples come in with their handicapped children, most of whom I can see being side-eyed by the other 'uppity' guests. I think the challenge to love the children even from far away scared them, and I'll be honest, the challenge sometimes scares me, too.
Or another example, I just saw in my gym the other day a couple of trainers giving physical therapy to a non-responsive, handicapped little boy, and I admired the way I could see the trainers loving him. So in this way, I'm responding to when you say "stuck with that person".. I'm not at all saying it's not difficult. But if they do have a handicap, then yes, I'd mourn their health, but it also isn't the end-all. At that point, it's, "Okay, what can we do now? What are the resources?"
I won't lie to you that what really impacted my opinion on this topic, along with these children and their parents was reading, "A Special Needs Mother is Born." I have a family member with disability, but he is mostly able to care for himself, however, after reading these written personal accounts of parents with special needs children, it totally flipped me upside-down. Parents with handicapped children have my utmost respect.

Sorry I didn't mean to write so much, but there's my thoughts.
To all you expecting parents: make sure your changing table at least has guard rails. Good ones have a strap with a buckle so they can't roll off. You'll be surprised how quickly they become strong enough to roll themselves off.
This is the one we have, along with the matching crib, and it's awesome.
not like by default or anything (unless its like a computer case for DIY builds that has built in child safety things, which im sure some people would find useful), just like a lil stick on/snap on cover that would give a toddler some amount of difficulty, or st. same way all those other child safety devices tend to be "add it yourself". I did actually find this thing, its computer only but hey it hides the pretty shinies
They just look like pregnancy body pillows...
Source: wife had it at one point
Edit: Guys trust me, you don't want one. I slept on the couch because not enough room for pillow + two people in a queen sized bed. Spent the money and got one of those adjustable bases...it's worth every effing penny.
We use this. Works like a charm.
I got a great instruction manual with my kid.

Jesus this reminds me of the time I was in a Sumo Tube at the lake and instead of flying up like how it is supposed to, the boat started and it pushed me straight underwater with the force of the water too much for me to deal with. It pushed my head underwater with my feet sticking up out of the water, so people on the boat couldn't even tell I was in danger because of the splashing, and they could see my feet so they assumed I was okay. I let go and I was still stuck in that position, wedged into the arm and neck cracks, until panic mode kicked in and I finally was able to force my body to readjust and I got out of that thing as soon as fucking possible. Not sure if the boat was going too slow or what but fuck inflatable death machines
Top review on Amazon of the Sumo Tube is completely accurate
