You might be thinking of George Lakoff's Don't Think of An Elephant (2004). I searched the wiki of episode guests from 1999 - 2006, but Lakoff doesn't appear. He has written many books over 40 years, has lots of interviews on youtube; plenty of material to sink your teeth into.

If Lakoff wasn't what you were searching, maybe he'll be a good substitute.

Most books these days are shit. They take an interesting idea that can often be distilled to an essay, paragraph, or in this case one sentence - and draw it out so you can justify charging $10-15 and make money.

Who are these fucking people that read the same thought over and over for 120 some pages?

Just off the top of my head, the guy who wrote a book expanded from this Facebook paragraph, or Moises Naim's End of Power (power is becoming decentralized), and of course this Trevor Noah book.

They're all a big fucking scam just to make money off of their interesting thought. And good for him! It's an interesting thing to think about, and really who gives a shit if he makes money off of it. What I don't like are these idiots who buy these books thinking they're going to get anything else out of it beyond the abstract, so to speak.

At least for non-fiction "sciencey-economicey" books you have the excuse that you need to argue and prove your hypothesis through the next 100+ pages. But for non-fiction like this.. what a waste of time to read.

Unless you just want to know more about Trevor Noah personally - but don't sell your book as this profound idea and give us a basic biography.

Nah, you brought up "tumblr/jezebel feminists" in a liberal zone - you should've seen that coming.

The IRONY is I just saw the episode where he interviewed the author of Wiser - Getting Beyond Groupthink. Give yourself a pat on the back.
