There's a really good box set that just came out with a little bit of everything he's done. That might be a good way to go to determine what of his discography might best appeal to you, as he has jumped genres so many times.

Dang, no track-times posted yet. Here it is on Amazon (the MP3 listing, which I thought sure would have the track-times, even if the CD didn't yet)...

It feels like a rehash of his older book. The pictures that he has used till now for the promotion of the book aren't new to me. Feeling a bit skeptical about this one.

Camelcamelcamel (I linked to a UK page) is a site that can track Amazon Marketplace prices and notify when things are cheap.

No, this song is from 1966.

Edit -- actually maybe I am wrong, triple checking now.

2nd edit -- looking at the amazon reviews for the album, it seems like this song is indeed from 1966: http://www.amazon.com/Serpent-Power/dp/B00UZU68AQ/ref=ntt_mus_dp_dpt_1

Well, 3rd edit as I kept reading reviews, it seems like there is some disagreement in the reviews section, so now I don't know what to think. I originally heard this song on spotify, and they had it marked as from the 1966 band, but I've seen them mislabel groups with the same name quite often.

Gonna add my two cents in and say to get Nothing Has Changed, this version specifically. Though it's not exactly the most "casual friendly," it gives the best overview of his work as a whole.

Between the two you said I would pick Legacy if I had to. Both are bad in their own ways, but Best of Bowie has the gall to put Dancing in the Street on a Bowie comp that has so few songs on it already. I understand Legacy doing it, but if a comp with only 18 songs has DITS on it, it's out for me.

Also, Legacy has a lot more of Bowie's latterday songs, such as Lazarus and I Can't Give Everything Away. And aside from cutting down a few songs a minute or two, the single edits don't really bother me that much. I prefer the originals, but there's really no reason to hate the edits.

Overall, I would pick Nothing Has Changed though.
