As others have stated, the A119 is awesome. Optional GPS and the video quality is top notch. If you want it on even when your car is off, you'll have to get a fuse adapter which you'll need to hardwire into your car. Relatively simple but requires some grunt work. Otherwise, you can run the USB cable to your cigarette lighter by removing the paneling around your windshield. Simple in every car though it can appear daunting. I went the cigarette lighter route and it took me all of 3 hours to get the whole thing installed. Make sure you get SpyTec though. The hardware is sold by a third party manufacturer and rebranded by several sellers. SpyTec has the best customer support and they use a little better housing. Also, make sure you get a high endurance micro sd made for being written over several hundred times before burning out. You'll want to replace it once a year depending on how much you drive. I use this guy. Enjoy the peace of mind!

Worth mentioning, some people will tell you not to get the GPS because you can incriminate yourself if you were speeding. But the police can pull your speed based on the road dashes, so you're gonna get nicked either way. So don't base your decision off that.

Reaching out is a great step to getting better. I have been in your shoes to the T. I'm sure if your social anxiety is as debilitating as you say it is it must be very hard just to reach out for help, so good for you.
I imagine my anxiety as a tiger, when it was a little cub, it would meow and beg for food and I would feed it without any thought. As it got older, it grew in strength and intimidation. At some point it became so strong and terrifying and it would growl at me I had no choice to feed it, for fear would eat me. It is a long process but you have to starve your tiger, and re learn how to confront social situations. You have to get out there and connect with people. Try social anxiety group therapy, [you can find free and low cost sessions] (http://group-therapy.meetup.com/cities/us/co/denver/)
Depression is a whole other animal, I've seen a few therapists and psychiatrists, there are many schools of thought on treatment, one revolves around working on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. There is a fantastic book that is a no-nonsense approach to CBT all on your own written by psychologists who treat manic depression. It has helped me that I'd suggest you go to a library and get: Mind Over Mood . Meditation can change your life and health in so many ways: imagine being particularly down in one moment and realizing that you could escape all of those feelings for just a brief moment of relief, meditation can accomplish this and help you in the long term. /r/Meditation. Hope the best for you. Keep asking for help if you need to.

Ethical Concern: The GMO corn is trademarked by <insert well known chemical company here> and the seed is sold to farmers who invest in it. Corn propagates by wind, neighbor farmer did not buy in but now his seed stock is infiltrated and the trademark owners sue him for stealing seed stock or some other violation of copyright. Local farmer caves to relentless legal pressure, soon all food stock is owned by corporations. This could get really wild (The Windup Girl), but so far that's still sci-fi, right?

Environmental Concern: Most GMO crops are created by chemical companies who in turn make products effective on plants that were not created by them. Rather than taking time to work with the environment these companies amass petrochemical sprays (a further economical cost to the farmer as well) and bombard regions so their plant survives. This chemical mixture goes into the soil and water where it in turn effects us; you do know that ALL drinking water is recycled I hope.

So you might be right, there might not be concerns on the healthy diet level (though we all know how wonderful the American diet is for us all). But there are larger socioeconomic issues here as well. To lock this only on a healthy for diet issue is absurd. I highly recommend Botany of Desire (book or PBS) as the potato chapter is enlightening on this measure (from an economic standpoint). Basically; organic food is far more economic in terms of space, maintenance, and profit per square foot.

Thanks for the follow!

This was shot with a Canon 70D with a Canon EF 24-70mm f/4L IS USM Lens.

That said, I have some additional thoughts on gear. You truly can't go wrong with any Canon, Nikon, or Sony kit these days. My camera is 5 years old, and I've been looking to upgrade for a while now. The successor is the 80D for $1k. It's a great mid-level crop sensor DSLR that has some sensor improvements over the 70D. The 90D is supposedly coming later this year too.

If I wasn't already invested in Canon lenses though, I'd take a hard look at Sony. The a7iii just came out and has some really impressive specs at a decent price. It's $2k for just the body, which is a bit over your budget. Sony also tends to charge less for the body and more for the lenses than Canon, so in some price comparisons they can seem cheaper. a6500 is within your budget, with room to buy a lens or two. I'd recommend going to a camera shop or somewhere where you can get your hands on the gear and see what you like and dont like. A couple times a year Mike's Cameras brings a ton of gear to the Denver Zoo and lets people try it all out. That'd be a good event to check out.

Hope that helps!

I don't have a local physician recommendation, but I can tell you that using the best eye drops post-surgery is critical.

I used these as often as my eyes needed them (as often as every 15 minutes for the couple of days post-surgery). They're very expensive, much more expensive than the big bottles, but you're spending $4k on the surgery don't cheap out on the drops. :)

Best of luck - 5 years later it's the best money I've ever spent and I still have 20/15 vision.

You can camp on BLM and National Forest land. IMO, this is the way to go. You have more space and solitude. I agree to u/c00tr about the San Juan Mountains.

Here is a map book that will help: http://www.amazon.com/Colorado-Road-Recreation-Atlas-Benchmark/dp/0929591917/ref=pd_sim_b_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=01BDN0A98SB3V3WHQXWM

Do you have a 4X4? (Just stock nothing "serious" but something with ground clearance).

Here's a thought:

If you are coming into Colorado at Cortez, driving through Denver and then leaving by way of I-70:

  • I'd drive 160 to Durango and then 550 North to Ouray. Ouray is a good stopping point - nice hot springs and a beautiful town.
  • From Ouray continue 550 to Montrose and Take Highway 50 east towards Gunnison - Stop and see the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park along the way.

  • From Gunnison take Highway 50 East towards Salida (over Monarch Pass) to the intersection of US 285. If you have an extra day stop in Buena Vista and take a whitewater day trip in Browns Canyon.

  • Otherwise, 285 through South Park (yes - it's really South Park), all the way into Denver.

  • In Denver see the side bar for recommendations - hang out with the Reddit crowd :)

  • I-70 west is really one of the most beautiful stretches of interstate in the country IMO. Just don't drive it in the summer on a Friday afternoon! (Mountain traffic).

  • Along I-70 if you have the time - hike Hanging Lake in Glenwood Canyon - and marvel at the canyon itself - then stop in Glenwood Springs for a night and enjoy the hot springs.

If you have a 4X4 PM me and I'll give you more ideas - but any of them will take time.

(sorry about the formatting - had some issues)

The best way I've found to discover good National Forest areas is with a Delorme Colorado Atlas and Gazetteer

Even with all the great resources online it's easy to page through the maps and look for the "dark green areas" which are National Forest.

I believe REI still sells the Atlas as well.

u/reinhold23 · 2 pointsr/Denver

Other than getting out there (I learned firsthand that FS-601 is gawd awful this past summer on a camping trip to the Flattops -- had to turn tail at a creek crossing/mud pit), I study maps quite a bit. Pick a cool place you'd like to visit, and plan your route, rather than outsourcing your brain to Google :)

And buy a good road atlas! I recommend the DeLorme one.

It's best to put on a mask before trying to get a ticket. My favorite mask is a Richard Nixon mask. Been planning on buying this Lizard Mask to change things up in the near future. These tickets can never prove I was behind the wheel when these safe "infractions" occurred.

Best Option

Second Best Option

I used the second one for a long time. I've gone through probably 5-6 of those. Picked up the first one a few years ago and I like it much better.

They're also wireless and don't need batteries.

I noticed this at my last /r/DenverGardener meetup too. Of course, being a smaller group it was a little easier to spot people coming in and looking like they're looking for us!

However, I was thinking next time I might make a small sign to hang from a table and maybe order these to go on pints or cups or whatever. Bring bright markers and people can write their reddit name and their real name on it. Just to make things a little easier.

+1 on this. I have one I love for $70. Installed in my windshield behind the rearview mirror and hardly remember it's there, blends in well.

I made this free antenna and I'm not exaggerating when I say it works just as well as if not better than my $60 Winegard. It took about 20 minutes and uses things you already have around the house (except maybe the balun and they are cheap). Give it a try. Plus it's a conversation starter, or you can cover it with black cloth to hide it. Either way, it sure helps to have a western exposure to set these up in (and the higher the better).

I've used 6 dashcam models since around 2011. Yours looks similar to the best one I've had so far, which is the Viofo A129: https://www.amazon.com/Viofo-Dashboard-Camera-Vision-G-Sensor/dp/B07CT6JPYW

An amplified antenna worked great for me and I live in Centennial. This one in particular http://www.amazon.com/Mohu-Leaf-Paper-Thin-Indoor-Antenna/dp/B00HSMK59E?th=1&psc=1

There is an another volume that covers northern CO.
Not every trail but good information on the ones they have.

u/idontusejelly · 3 pointsr/Denver

Its just local broadcast channels that are already free through an antenna which can be had for the same cost as one month of the service.

u/thebabaghanoush · 3 pointsr/Denver

I got this one: https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B072FGL63X/

This is one of the recommended models on /r/Dashcam
