I may be of some help. I was in the same position as you a couple months ago.

First you have to decide, wired or wireless.

Wireless: A lot people suggest the ps gold headset ($100). As a gaming headset, they're decent but from what I've read, the sound quality is not great. If all you do is plan to play games with it and you don't care all that much about sound quality then this may be your best wireless option. A better wireless option would be the Astro A50. Reviews seem to say that the sound quality on the A50 is pretty good but this comes at a much higher price ($300 new, $200 refurbished). SteelSeries also makes a good wireless option at the same price point of the Astro.

Wired: If you go on head-fi, everyone will say the best option would be to buy a decent dedicated full-size headphones(price here depends on budget), a separate mic, and something like this to connect to your controller. This is true but I didn't like this option. Having two cables going my controller to my head seemed like a bit of a hassle and I wanted as few wires as possible. I wanted a quality wireless setup, but I couldn't justify spending $300 for a setup I'd only use to game.

I did find the V-Moda boom pro which would replace the cord on their headphone's with an in-line boom mic thus eliminating one more wire. Paired it up with the V-Moda M80(You should be able to use it with anything form the vmoda line, but don't hold me to that, you should be able to find out yourself easily), which to my surprise got great reviews on head-fi. I bought them for around 80 on an amazon lightning deal. They're pretty good, especially considering the whole setup cost ~$100. Build quality is very high, sound quality is good, a little bass heavy IMO but that is perfect for gaming. I also wouldn't mind taking these out with me on the colder months as they're not too bulky. They also come with a pretty cool carrying case.

I'm very happy with this setup now and I think the next step up from here would be to get a wireless setup.

Hope this helps.

Source: I do have quite an extensive headphone collection so I do appreciate a good set of cans.

There aren't any solid solutions that will be both device agnostic and inexpensive, unfortunately. If you end up sticking with the X360, my favorite has been the XBox 360 Wireless Headset. Alternatively I had an extra set of Plantronics M Series earloop and eartips that I stuck onto the 'set and I find them to be much more comfortable / better at remaining in place. In all, with the optional kit, can run you from $25-$40 (sometimes you'll find a dirt cheap sale on the communicators somewhere, especially for like the MW3 edition). Personally I wouldn't go any higher in cost for an X360 solution, unless you go full-blown with an Astro Mixamp Pro and a favorite, high quality headset (expect to spend anywhere from $200-$500 altogether, or higher if you go really nuts).

A solid, dollar for dollar, PC / PS4 solution would be to get the SteelSeries v2 paired with an adapter like this ($60-$80 solution, depending). The DS4 has a 3.5mm jack that will support in-game sound as well as chat. The downside to it is it's a little underpowered. A lot of people don't have issues with it, but I'm rather picky. Thankfully the SteelSeries v2 only has a 32 Ohm impedance and an accompanying low-ish sensitivity level. So they don't take much to drive, but still -- to me the sounds for anything on the DS4 are a little muddy. To forego it, you would need to spend a little more money. Next step up, which works great for the PS4, would be the Sony Wireless Gold for around $80, but while it's a great solution for the PS4 I find it subpar on the PC. To get better sound out of the PS4 you would have to go the Astro Mixamp Pro route.

For PS4 you could also go the opposite direction in pricing and get the $12 PS Vita Earbuds and just shove those in the DS4 jack. While still an inline mic (will be picking up a lot of ambient noise) these are far better than what you can get out of the packaged earbud / mic with the PS4. If your soundcard doesn't support mic input via the headphone jack and only has the separate 3.5mm, can always use another adapter that goes in the reverse. Or just simply save up for a different headset for PC.

Haha, I feel you-- I do miss the days when a console was a console and you didn't have to worry about customizing it to improve performance.

Here's the drive and the external enclosure I'm using, total $59.98:

Original link (see edit below; might not want to get this one): https://www.amazon.com/SanDisk-240GB-Solid-State-SDSSDA-240G-G26/dp/B01F9G43WU/ref=sr_1_6?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1537193290&sr=1-6&keywords=250gb+ssd

Better link (Samsung, $8 more): https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-250GB-Internal-MZ-76E250B-AM/dp/B07864WMK8/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1537193972&sr=1-3&keywords=250gb+ssd

https://www.amazon.com/UGREEN-External-Enclosure-Adapter-Housing/dp/B06XWRRMYX/ref=sr_1_4?ie=UTF8&qid=1537193304&sr=8-4&keywords=external+enclosure+2.5

There are better SSD drives that that one, but the PS4 OS is not optimized for SSD so other people's tests show the better drives aren't any faster than lower-end drives. If you're buying one for a PC, then you might want to spring for a Samsung or something, but it's not necessary on PS4.

Edit: Ah, wait, that's not the exact same drive I'm using. Mine is listed as 250GB. This one is listed as 240GB. I think the minimum PS4 can use externally is 250GB. I know there's funny business in hard drive capacities due to the next step of bytes being 1024, not an even 1000, but I don't know if it would make this 240GB not meet PS4's "250" requirement or not. Might want to go with something explicitly 250GB to be safe.

Edit 2: Wow, Amazon actually has the Samsung brand 250GB for only $57 on sale today. I added that link if anyone's interested.

u/daak · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

So that... that is something I do not know in relation specific to Destiny. I was providing that comment as a general statement. But I did go look at the Amazon listing just now and here's what I'm seeing.

  • Looking at the one listing I see on Amazon for PC (I did not find two listings as the commenter I replied to stated) I saw, it appears to at least be a physical case being sent as it applied the 20% pre-order discount at checkout for me.
  • The case art image at the bottom left area says "Download Only, no disc included" which would indicate to me that it is the case where just a download code is included with the case.
  • There is some conflicting information in the Ask & Answer posted back in May where the page listed the format as "disc," but I do not see that on the product page any more and has likely been removed.
  • The initial release is recommending having at least 68 GB of free hard drive space. This is honestly massive, and beyond what a dual-layer Blu-ray could store. As such, it actually makes me wonder what they'll be shipping in the console boxes since it seems like the entirety of the base game seems like it won't fit completely on a single disc.

Judging by that, I think it's safe to assume that the PC version will ship with a digital code inside a box. If it really matters to you, definitely don't go just on speculation, though. Try to get confirmation on that from Amazon directly, which may involve waiting closer to release since PC details in particular are sparse at this time.
u/Holy_Shit_Snacks · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

If you get one make sure to get these grips for it, so much more comfortable to play on.

I like it for light solo missions, bounty farming, etc. It is excellent for mobile casual play. I prefer to stick to my PS4 and dualshock for major missions (Nightfall, Weekly Heroic, VoG where things get really intense) and PVP.

u/richiepc3 · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

I was looking for a new PC headset and got lucky when i found this:
http://www.amazon.com/HyperX-Cloud-Gaming-Headset-KHX-H3CL/dp/B00JJNQG98/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1409959016&sr=8-1&keywords=hyperx+cloud

The deal breaker was that it is also compatible with PS4. I got pretty lucky because they were selling these at PAX Prime for 60 bucks.

Edit: forgot to say that I am extremely happy with it, it is very comfortable and the sound quality is great.

u/Gomerpyle80 · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

I bought the PS Gold Wireless Headset and it has been awesome - the one thing is figure out if you like the virtual surround sound or not. I really don't some people do. My favorite setting is the default bass boost #2 on the switch. Do not create your own profile and max the bass thinking it will boom-- it is too much for them and it will sound bad. - When I am not playing I hook it up to my Wii or my ps4 to have it charged up next time..

Also - yes it comes with a cable so you can use it direct connect to the controller if the battery dies.

Look for deals - I got mine for $60 new

Edit - also for a super cheap quality ear plug headset get the ones made for the ps vita.. they work great on the PS4 as well

u/jonnyboywonder · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

You arent buying the correct collection. It should be around 60$ and include ALL dlcs. see here
The game is super fun to play with people and so if you are playing alone you will find it hard to stay up to date with the highest level stuff without using 3rd party lfg programs. It is heavily reliant on guns rather than abilities but at thwe same time the game feels very different depending on which class/subclass of abilities you are using. If you can find a friend or two to play it with i highly recommend it

PC Standard Edition on Amazon for $25.99

I'm a ubisoft kinda guy. They're not perfect, far from it actually... but they have proven themselves true to their word in terms of long term support in my two favorite games(Rainbow Six Siege and Rocksmith 2014). I think this blog post and seemingly sincere response is atleast worth 26 bucks to see what all the hubbub is about... plus I enjoyed the beta

u/JensBoef · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

Thanks for posting this!!! I love playing D2, but what I hate most is getting into the game.... getting to the tower.... getting to a match/strike/planet... Even going from the main part of the tower to the place where Ikora and Drifter are takes some real long *ss loading times, while other guardians pass me by. (I have a standard version of the Xbox One and a wired connection)

Some questions, because I'm a noob:

  1. Do I need to move D2 and other games I play regularly from my Xbox harddrive to the external SSD in order for this to work? I guess so, but I want to make sure.
  2. Does this also work for games I own on disc (and not a digital edition)?
  3. If for whatever reason the SSD crashes, does progress in D2 goes to waste? I would think not, but I want to make sure.
  4. I guess a portable SSD would have the same benefits? https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-T5-Portable-SSD-MU-PA500B/dp/B073GZBT36?keywords=Samsung+Portable+SSD&qid=1540305358&s=Electronics&sr=1-3&ref=sr_1_3

    Thanks for any help!
u/Veda007 · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

If you can afford like $75 do yourself a favor and buy an external ssd. It’s easy to install and it will halve or better all your load times. Menu opening is almost instant. It’s the best $75 I’ve spent. It makes every game better.

Edit - $90 atm. This is the one I have.

u/LightKiosk · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

I'm using the HyperX Cloud Headset.

You can get them from Amazon here. And it's really not unnecessary hype, the headsets truly are extremely comfortable and the 53mm drivers help. :)

I also chose these over the SONY Golds, as comfort for me plays a big deal in buying a headset. Also, the aluminum construction made me sway towards these headsets more.

u/SkywalkerJade · 2 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

If you need recommendations, These are the exact ones I purchased, but basically just look for good price and decent ratings on amazon. Make sure to get a good usb 3.0 enclosure too, if you didn’t know that already, ssd’s won’t come with a way to connect to USB already in the box.

ssd

Edit: looks like I was off by $3. The total is about $43 (before tax, prime shipping).

The Grimoire is the story of the world of Destiny pre game. It’s actually really cool to read if he’s into books. There’s a few you tubers that’ve carved a career out of reading the Grimoire in videos. If you know he watches creators like MyNameIsByf or MyelinGames then this should be a good choice :)

Grimoire vol 1

Or if he likes playing cards there’s these too

u/thexawakening · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

Yeah that's pretty much it. Just make sure it's USB 3.0.

For reference I bought this SSD https://www.amazon.com/dp/B071KGRXRG?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

And put it into this https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWRRMYX?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share

Note: You can just get an external SSD and be good. I only went the route I did cause it was cheap for a lot of storage. Still works like a champ.

I frequently use the popular list on solar system map lower left corner with free trial version, but if it randomly selects a map on "Siva" Crisis Heroic strike or Weekly Story Playlist that I don't have access to it aborts mission and sends me back to orbit. If you don't have the Rise of Iron, you're missing a lot, since people do the Siva Crisis Heroic Strike (and Crucible), list to get Legendary marks five times and one Treasure of the Ages Chest (dismantle for Silver dust) weekly.
https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/63uv50/age_of_triumph_weekly_and_daily_awards/

https://www.amazon.com/Destiny-Collection-Xbox-One-Standard/dp/B01K63R7EW/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1526657888&sr=8-1&keywords=destiny%2Brise%2Bof%2Biron%2Bcollection&th=1

If you want to increase your light level first (although most people in strike can help you through), to maximize your time to get the most loot, have all three characters spend 10 minutes a day to do one Public Event successfully completed gold level (and /or daily crucible) for rewards and Legendary marks to buy gear. Most public events timers aren't synchronized, but if you go to Moon - upon landing at Archers Line there's always event and people to help. http://destinypublicevents.com/

The key to maximize your light level decrypting, is to rotate decryption of the type of engrams, so all gear you're wearing is highest possible level. Don't bother spending glimmer or materials on rare blue gear that will be discarded quickly for higher level new replacements, since even a couple points is double digits more damage (and wait to infuse legendary purple and exotic gear). https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheGame/comments/4i3511/could_somebody_please_tell_me_what_the_hell_tier/

Get these, seriously:

http://www.amazon.com/PlayStation-Gold-Wireless-Stereo-Headset-4/dp/B00HVBPRUO/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1421363508&sr=8-1&keywords=playstation+gold+headset

Only $100 at the moment, 4.5 stars out of 5 stars from 1,347 customers at the time of this post.

It is wireless, has really good sound quality, 7.1 surround sound, good bass response. Not to mention there is the playstation headset app you can download after you purchase these, the app lets you download a sound preset into your headphones specifically tuned for Destiny. And you can do this for the most popular games on PS4.

I have these and absolutely love them, sound quality is great and my GF never complains as I have all the audio (chat and game audio) coming into the headphones instead of the external speakers.

This isn't really an issue, but more a tip if you get them, every now and then you might some sound issues or your buddies you're playing might say hey your mic keeps cutting out etc. Turn off the headset and unplug the little wireless usb receiver for the headset, plug it back in and turn the headphones back on and you're good to go.

Here is the best external SSD from a reputable company (ADATA) for a good price that I've found after browsing Amazon for a few minutes. 256 GB is more than enough to hold D2 with all expansions and it's only $62. You won't even need to buy an enclosure for it like some of the other recommendations for internal SSDs, just plug, transfer, and play!

It's more difficult to prove that I don't have something than proving I do. But if you look at the amazon comments for Rise of Iron (here: https://www.amazon.com/Destiny-Rise-Iron-Pre-Load-Digital/dp/B01GU89H6I#customerReviews ), you'll see that other people are in the same boat as me.

But here's the weird part: We DID get the Iron Gjallarhorn (I didn't make this clear in my post), but we DIDN'T get the Iron Gjallarwing! Only half of the preorder bonus, weird huh?

I really appreciate your generosity with giving out a code. But give it a day or two, Amazon might fix what they have done wrong to us. If nothing happens soon, I'll get back to you (Yes I am on PS4, PSN name is Zephyr-Sloth)!

u/Not_enough_yuri · 2 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

The headphones and mic? The easiest way to do it is by using something like this to combine the signals from the mic and the headphones and plug it into either your PS4 controller or X1 chat adapter. In the case of headphones like the Philips X1 that use a 3.5mm input (you plug one of these into the headphones), you can use this, which automatically combines the audio output and mic input signal. Once again though, that doesn't really matter as of now. TL;DR: Use an adaper to combine the mic and headphone jacks and plug them into your controller, piece of cake. If you want more info, you can check out /r/headphones and ask some questions there. We're generally a nice community :)

i just plugged in my iphone ear buds that came with the phone and my friends say it sounds great. I live in the USA so idk how much this helps you, but here's a link to the one I purchased off Amazon.

I posted this in a different thread about the vita. I got a vita a few weeks ago for Destiny. Absolutely worth the purchase. If you are looking for a good grip to go with the vita, check this one out. This grip makes it feel kind of like the dualshock controller. Definitely makes it easy to hold and play. Also, in order to get mine to connect I had to update some of the ports in my router for the PS4. You can find the guide here. You just find your router on that page and then follow the instructions. Very simple.

SSD: Samsung 860 EVO 250GB 2.5... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07864WMK8?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Case (comes with cable): UGREEN External Hard Drive... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B06XWRRMYX?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Case lights up when powered.

I plugged mine into the usb slot in the back of my PS4 Pro (I think normal has one too). Works like a charm. Game loads before the primary theme finishes, and in-game menus and planets/zones load substantially quicker (but not instantly, still some wait).

Worth the ~$60 when you think of the cumulative hours saved on even just sifting through menus.

NOTE: I have noticed a bug that crops up now from loading “warp” too quickly. The “takeoff” animation will run without my ship following (just camera), causing the game to take a few beats on a black screen before loading the “warp” part of the load screen. It’s not a big deal, just wait a few moments and everything goes back to being its normal, speedy self :)

u/celestiaequestria · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

The PS4 controller uses a 4-pin 3.5mm connector. You can get an adapter for $6 that will break this out into a standard stereo headphone jack and a microphone jack, which will let you use a standard PC gaming headset, or separate headphones and microphone.

Here's the splitter:
http://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-MUYHSMFF-Headset-Splitter-Adapter/dp/B004SP0WAQ/r

Then you can use literally any pair of headphones and microphone, or PC headset (non-USB). For example:
http://www.amazon.com/Logitech-Stereo-Headset-H150-Cloud/dp/B005DKZTNK/

Obviously some of the ultra-nice headsets like the Astros sound well, like you'd expect something that costs hundreds of dollars to sound, but you can find "middle ground" headsets that are good enough.

If you want game audio coming through the headphones, make sure to set it in the audio options on your PS4!

u/OpticalNecessity · 6 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

For VoG/Crota, not really. Especially if you grab a sherpa run, where someone explains all the mechanics for you.

Getting into KF, though, a mic is pretty necessary as a lot of communication is needed from all members.

I own the Playstation Headset which are falling apart but I refuse to get rid of. Save up and buy a pair. I'm sure the newer "gold" model are good as well, I just have no personal experience with them.

Amazon has a wonderful case-thing with cables, and Samsung sells a nice compact 2.5" SSD that can go as low as 250GB, and as high as 4TB. I bought the 250GB one with the case-thing and only paid about $72 total. Both can be bought through Amazon, and are both under Prime shipping if you have it, so your SSD will be here and ready in no time at all. I highly recommend it if you are a heavy Destiny player.

Yes, you want an internal drive, which you can plug in externally. To be able to connect it via USB, you need something like this.
You could also use it internally without the enclosure though.

If you wanna use it internally I'd recommend getting the 500GB for 39 bucks more (if you play more than just 3 games [if not, 250GB is perfectly fine, especially when using it externally as you can just move your games between your HDD and SSD whenever you want]).

Honestly, getting a Pro and using it on a 1080p TV isn't bad. It's what I did and I'm rocking a 9 year old 50" 1080p Plasma TV still. Most games will do super sampling as long as the developers have patched the game to use the extra power from the Pro.

The other commonly overlooked feature is the ability to stream in 1080p and 1080p 60fps directly from the PS4 Pro. This is nice to have if you're someone who is a casual streamer or want to capture some video for friends or personal projects. Especially if you're not going to invest in a capture card and PC to do all the fancy streaming work.

Also, upgrading the HDD is an option but a 2TB SSD is expensive at around $600-700. Even a 1TB SSD is still $300+. I opted for a 2TB SSHD (currently $99), found here: https://www.amazon.com/Seagate-FireCuda-2-5-Inch-Notebooks-ST2000LX001/dp/B01M1NHCZT/ in addition to upgrading to the PS4 Pro. I already had a 1TB SSHD in my regular PS4, and I figured why not upgrade to 2TB once I got my Pro.

This is the one I used. Works like a charm.

Load times are consistently and considerably better than before when I didn’t have a ssd. I highly recommend it to all who don’t have a Xbox One X already.

Buy this from Amazon:
https://www.amazon.com/Destiny-Rise-Iron-Digital-Code/dp/B01GU89H6I/ref=sr_1_1?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1478472099&sr=1-1&keywords=rise+of+iron+ps4

There's a way to do it in the PSN Store, but I don't remember where. Using Amazon has the advantage someone else can buy the code for you as a gift.

u/Dark_Tlaloc · 4 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

I mentioned to another poster that I don't want to recommend a specific one since I'm not really super savvy about the latest SSD tech, but:

  1. the big brands should be good (Samsung, Western Digital, etc.) and 2) if you don't mind small capacity and a little risk, you can do something like this: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XRT23D5/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

    (that's what I got)

I usually would make sure the SSD has a fair amount of reviews and more than a 4* rating. Personally at $40, I was willing to take a risk that this was a crappy SSD, since it's mostly for Destiny anyway.
u/elkemist · 4 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

I'm ready.

For this game alone i bought a new tv, a new gen console, a sound bar, a gaming headset, and I returned a broken controller to MS and I am saving the new one for launch.

I'm ready.

On another note if anyone is looking for a good gaming headset for ps4/xbox one check out this one: Gaming Headset. Its amazingly comfortable.

Okay so, I'm in the UK, play on PS4.
This: http://www.amazon.com/Destiny-Expansion-Pass-Digital-Code/dp/B00LLIQWKC

Is 20 quid. Buying it in the UK is 35 quid. (Which is 56 dollars.)

Does anyone know, if I buy the US digital code, whether it'll work on my UK PS4?

Is anyone willing to try?

You can definitely buy digital stuff across the puddle, I've done so with Steam game keys before. Don't know if PS4 is as.. flexible.

u/Jove_ · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

This is the one I went with. Load Times are dramatically improved. I play with some EU guys (Midwest US here) I load into every planet, event, mission, strike a good minute or two before they do. I used to be able to get up and make a drink while loading into the tower before landing. Not anymore

u/AquaPSN-XBOX · 2 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

depends what you mean by "better"

internal would probably be more effective, however it is much harder to install and you could seriously screw something up in your console if you install it improperly

external is much easier to install and setup, while still giving you a massive boost in speeds

here is what I bought, it is external.. you plug the ssd into the case and plug the case into console, simple as that

Well now you do.

>now I would literally have to shell out money to a company I am not fond of in the first place to just play the game on pc

Care to elaborate? They're both owned by Activision anyway. Too add to this, you don't even have to buy it from Blizzard, you can if you want to but there are other outlets.

Hello Daniel,

>I'm sorry to hear that you haven't received the Pre-Order bonus 'Gjallarwing sparrow'.

>I've checked all the details and see that the Pre-order doesn't come with "Gjallarwing sparrow". This pre order will give access to "Iron Gjallarhorn" and not "Gjallarwing sparrow".

>This information is provided on the product detail page below:

>*Access to Iron Gjallarhorn starting 09.20.16. Can be attained by pre-ordering Destiny: Rise of Iron and completing the in-game quest. See www.destinythegame.com for additional details. Iron Gjallarhorn not exclusive to any retailer or platform. Subject to availability.

The problem that people had was that for a few months they were advertising the launcher & sparrow. They even had posted a video (that Bungie made) showcasing both items on the pre-order page.

Either way, I'm glad that Amazon and Bungie made it right.

I'm going to throw out the option of a hybrid drive: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01M1NHCZT/
It has 8GB of flash that it uses for caching frequently accessed data. You get a lot of the benefits, but 2TB for <$100. Look at the 5th load numbers from this review: http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2017-seagate-firecuda-2tb-review. Since you're usually only heavily playing one or two games at a time, it works really well.

u/SephirosXXI · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

It's 40 dollars for the physical version, 60 for digital a code. maybe you can find a better price used? also, it's a lot of content for 60 bucks, and the digital version means you don't have to keep the disc in the system, which is nice if/when you become obsessed with the game.

the newest expansion by itself is 30 dollars, so it really doesn't seem that bad to pay 40 for the entire game, or 60 for the digital version.

u/Ikeda_kouji · 2 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

Thank you very much! Easy to understand.

I'm contemplating on buying this one. It is on sale and it ships to Japan for extremely cheap. It has an "C to A cable" connector, so I think I only need to use this "C to A cable" (USB 3.1 to 3.0 cable, so the "A" will go to my PS4 OG, and "C" will go in the product)?

PS4/PS4 Pro - External SSD is vastly superior to the default HDD. Using an internal SSD can be faster or slower than using it externally. Basically, your probably best off keeping your internal HDD for games you play less often and slapping Destiny plus a few other titles on an external SSD as there's not a ton of speed to be gained by going internal.

Xbox One - Similar to the PS4, you will gain an immense amount of speed by using an external SSD instead of the internal HDD. I don't think you can normally install an SSD internally with Xbox.

By the way, if you're thinking, "but damn external SSDs have stupid markup on them" then you are absolutely correct, have a cookie. Now buy your regular cheap internal SSD and slap it in one of these. Can't tell you how it functions with Xbox but works perfectly with my Pro. Also note that depending on the SSD you may have to pop it into a computer (or plug it in with the enclosure) and initialize the drive/format it for the PS4 to properly recognize it but this step isn't always necessary it seems.

u/MtnDewX · 6 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

I got the exact same thing as from this post, since the OP had indicated success:

That works. Now finding an external enclosure is where all the ripoffs are. Do research and find one that is capable of 550 at least. Should be good. Mine is an all in 1 Samsung M.2 USB 3.0. :EDIT::
Sorry, didn't read that you already have it. Yes it's a solid upgrade, load times are much faster with an SSD. Menus, loading up strikes/tower/loading wall. All are faster than the spinning mechanical hard drives that are in the system currently. Also agree with above, you have to move the entire Destiny 2 game over to the SSD.
u/Shwidda · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

I used this one, it comes in bigger sizes too. You'll need an external enclosure too, just look those up they're like $10. Altogether you can get set up for less than $100. You just put it in the enclosure, plug it into your xbox and you're good.

u/Str8Lurk1n · 2 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

The current fix to this is to buy an external SSD and transfer the game onto that. It's going to cost a minimum of like 70 bucks. I bought one and I don't regret the purchase, my game is smoother and my load times are exponentially better. Inventory is instant.

These are the only 2 items you need. I bought the 500 GB SSD, but if you want it for just D2 the 250 will suffice. it connects into the case and the case comes with a USB 3.0 to plug from it into your xbox.

Very doubtful honestly. I've been keeping a close eye on sales for Destiny 2's DLC and it's never happened. Either the base game is the only one that goes on sale, or sites with voucher codes (e.g. GreenManGaming always excluide Destiny 2's DLC as an option for using the discount.

There could potentially be a sale on the season pass as we approach the September expansion? Maybe? It's more likely that they'll put a new version of Destiny 2 on sale in December which has the base game, Curse of Osiris, Warmind, and the September expansion all bundled into one (much like the Legendary edition of Destiny: The Taken King and Destiny: The Collection) I honestly don't know though.

Shaders preview immediately.

Load times drastically reduced. There are times when I've loaded into the tower, emptied my post master, and collected my loot -- all before my clan mates even load in.

Very few if any loads between areas (blind well / dreaming city) -- same deal, I'll be sparrowing along with some buds, we pass through a loading zone and suddenly I'm alone because they're all stuck in mid air loading the zone.

Well worth the ~$80 USD for the SSD.

On both machines, I regularly preview and change shaders while loading into a game. It's slower while loading, but it goes about as fast as a normal Xbox HDD does while not loading in. While not loading in on my setup, it's instant. Also, load times for areas and activities (solo ones anyway) is way faster. I never get stuck in the strike "loading levitation" and I rarely have time to take a hit when I'm traveling to the tower anymore ;)

You have different options.

If your Beats has a removable headphone wire.
V-Moda BoomPro add-on Mic.

If your Beats doesn't have a removable headphone wire.

Antlion Mod Mic Unidirectional

Antlion Mod Mic Omnidirectional

If you want to use the Zalman or Antlion mic, you need to purchase a splitter.

Sennheiser Splitter

USB Headphone/Mic Adapter, requires USB extension cable

Yep, that's exactly what I bought. Here's the link from my order page: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01GU89H6I/ref=oh_aui_d_detailpage_o00_?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I ordered it very late on Monday too.

Well theres not much to do unless you get all the DLC. Try and keep an eye out for The Collection to go on sale.

u/HumanPhace · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

My update went smoothly yesterday.

This is the SSD I bought: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0764WCXCV/

And this is the enclosure: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00OJ3UJ2S/

Even if it doesn't solve the update problem its worth it for the improved loading times.

u/Vartemis · 3 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

I have done the same. For anybody trying to do so, just buy these 2 items off of amazon:

Samsung 860 EVO 250GB 2.5 Inch SATA... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07864WMK8?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

ORICO USB3.0 to SATA III 2.5"... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M08LCXW?ref=yo_pop_ma_swf

Those links contain everything you need. Once you have them, connect it to your xbox and transfer destiny to the ssd from the internal storage and you're done.

u/Snakeobich · 7 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

I went with this Samsung 860 EVO 500gb SSD.

And this Orico adapter.

It works phenomenally. Cut all of my load times in half, and intra-instance load times are nonexistent.

Highly recommend it.

I probably should have worded my post better -the one I have is (I believe) an internal drive but it too is in an enclosure.

it's this drive - https://www.amazon.com/Samsung-250GB-Internal-MZ-76E250B-AM/dp/B07864WMK8/ref=sr_1_3?s=pc&ie=UTF8&qid=1537193972&sr=1-3&keywords=250gb+ssd

Yeah it does sound like the splitter is the issue, I managed to find a few other people with the same problem and they fixed it by messing with audio settings, which didn't do anything for me. So it must be this thing. Kinda a long shot, but any suggestions for one? I got this one because it got decent reviews, but I guess it wasn't compatible with PS4.

[Link to Amazon US](Destiny Grimoire Anthology, Vol I https://www.amazon.com/dp/1945683449/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_nKc1Bb55BSERQ). Also, I heard that Myelin Games (Destiny lore YouTuber) helped compile this.

There is a 20 percent sale off in Amazon. I order one a day or two day ago, I can't wait to use it.

They are the Sony Gold Wireless Stereo Headset. Here is a link to them on Amazon (as Sony doesn't sell them direct). If you look around you can sometimes find them cheaper with a rebate.

As far as I'm aware, codes are region specific. That's why when people ask for beta keys and such they state they are looking for NA or EU codes. The US Amazon store, I believe only sells NA codes. You could make a NA PSN account to redeem it, and just set your PS4 as primary, that way your EU PSN has access to the content.

u/Thatboykap · 1 pointr/DestinyTheGame

Looking at the amazon page for Rise of Iron, the ps4 version only mentions the gjallarhorn

u/Ash-G099 · 9 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

I mean, I'm not trying to be insensitive to people's financial statuses but it was $60. If someone can afford an Xbox One, plus Destiny and all the expansion costs I don't think the SSD is going to be the make or break factor.

It releases today, actually. It’s currently out of stock on amazon, so you’ll have to wait a bit, but you can find it here

u/BigE_1995 · 2 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

Get the Samsung 860 evo: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07864WMK8/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_ytwKDbR49FQTP, fast and reliable. You can also use it if you choose to build a PC later on, note that you will need to buy a ssd external enclosure if you want to use it on your Ps4.

u/badmagnet · 2 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

It's $60 on PSN unless you're not in the United States.

If you're fine with getting another disc and are in the US:

Destiny The Collection

u/dragasaur · 14 pointsr/DestinyTheGame

Amazon says the 28th. It's also on sale for $16.50
