AKG K240s relatively cheap for the over the ear catagory. Great mid/highs which is awesome for voice to compensate for the weaker bass. Awesome for podcasting. The only thing about them is the pleather ear cups can get uncomfortable/hot after extended use so I suggest getting these velour pads and replacing the leather ones with them. It can be a little bit of a tight fit, but once they're on, use a hair drier on hot to shrink it securely around the lip.

If he's looking to get serious with headphones, I will always recommend the Beyerdynamic DT 770s (cans of choice for Robert Krekel and Brandt Hughes!)

Admittedly, they're on the pricey side, but without a doubt the most comfortable headphones I've ever worn. They're built to last and have good sound reproduction. I'm no audiophile so I won't be able to tell you about the fidelity of frequencies, but it sure as hell gets the job done.

Also I'm convinced there's some headphone Illuminati and buying these makes you a member, I feel like these pop up all over the place after I bought them.

I didn't make it last week so I'll try again this week!

I have a new podcast called Writing The Rapids. It's a monthly show where I talk to writers about writing. For the first episode I had B. R. Yeager on. He wrote the book Amygdalatropolis which is about an agoraphobic teen who spends so much time on a 4chan-like site that he never grows old and gets everything he wants. We talk about the book, the writing process, and B. R. Yeager reads a new piece at the end of the episode.

The cool thing about the show is that with the exception of the first two guests, all the writers I have on the show will be chosen by writers that have already been on the show.
