I’d say for the most part it blends in but you’ll hear a bit more vocal or bass depending on the speaker.

The only issue is there are a lot of logistical problems in doing so with this car in terms of plug and play easy install.

Assuming you have the HIFI system with the tweeter (small speaker by the mirror) and midrange(bigger speaker by the door grip) in the front door there are two (BMW propriety) connections on the midrange speaker. Unless you get a speaker crossover or speaker wire splitter, you’ll lose the tweeter (tweeter has a bass blocker, that little cylinder in the wire which acts like a crossover).

EX:
(Midrange gets signal and also passes signal to tweeter 1)

BMW Connection 1 ——->Tweeter
Speaker ———-| Midrange Speaker
Wire —> Connection 2
(2 gets the speaker signal)

*Welp can’t make a good diagram on mobile. Maybe on a desktop this looks better.

A cheap setup for the front is:

NOTE: This is a coaxial setup where all sound is in one place, not bad but the component setup is usually seen as better (what’s in the car now) because it splits the speakers apart creating a better sound stage.

To not hack into the OEM wiring:

61138373583 - End Piece which goes into existing Speaker End.

61130006664 - One Pin which go into Speaker Wire End Piece (you need two for every end piece)

Cheap 4” Speaker and adapter mount

OEM Hifi AMP can put out 25W at 4 OHM’s
Speaker above is 30W at 4 OHM’s RMS. The difference is minimal and you won’t start clipping, over taxing the amp and speaker unless you’re at full volume it. Rockford is a great brand overall.

Depth of the Speaker is 43.6 mm

Exact Fit Front Speaker Adapter Spacer Rings For BMW Vehicles - SAK076_4-1 Pair https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M755KAD/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_IS4WDb4JV45YG

You put the adapter over the back of the speaker sandwich it onto the door. I used the same one in my install. Therefore the depth doesn’t matter. If you front mount the adapter you’ll be at 6.35 mm so lightly over the depth with the above speaker but you won’t run into any issues.

Congrats on the door lock working!!!!

It's an amazing mod. Outside of that - you are right in the fact the N52 is pretty well tuned from factory- worst case you can buy a new oem disa intake, but that starts getting pretty $$$. A good shop should be able to source a refurbished one. The x5's, 330s, and Z's all had the upgraded n52.

I did get 2-3 horsepower and a noticeable sound from doing a silicone intake tube as well - that was a good bang for your buck. https://www.amazon.com/Mishimoto-MMHOSE-E90-06IHBK-Engine-Silicone-2006-2013/dp/B01GA9WBB0 - I also did a clutch stop (assuming you have manual) which shortens the clutch dead space, that was $15 and is basically a plastic plug http://www.burgertuning.com/clutch_stop_BMW.html . ZHP shift knob was a nice upgrade from the plastic oem one too.

I've done pretty much every "low hanging fruit" mod on my e91, happy to share my experience. You're welcome to pm me if you have any questions

kia ora mate. That car is gonna bring a smile to your face. Take for it spin on someplace like the Tahuna-Ohinewai Rd or even SH30. FYI - BMWorkshop in Auckland are my recommendation. This is what you want to get for bluetooth audio/calling - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B009NLTW60/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

That is an amazing car for the money - https://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/2006-bmw-330i-long-term-road-test

You are enjoying one of the better dailydriver BMWs. The steering is hydraulic so you can place the car with confidence and that non-turbo 6 cylinder is creamly responsive.

Cheers.

My impression of you seems to be that you don't have very much mechanical experience. I would for the sake of preperation, with the assumption you'd want to repair it yourself, buy a a bentley manual or visit this website. I would also encourage you to purchase a code scanner. At the minimum, this would put you in a leveraged position. As you wouldn't rely on your stealership or a joeSCHMOE as much as you normally would to tell you what's wrong with your car. I find people who buy bimmers either have the money to have them repaired and not dent their wallet or have the know how to repair it themselves. There's nothing wrong with the first type, but I wouldn't be caught dead waiting for someone to change my tire. I encourage you to learn more about your engine, to take things apart. Whatever you may hear may be hear-say. Your car is definitely different than the others.

Good luck!

I dont understand why you are avoiding LED. I just installed these Heavy Duty 80W CREE LED Light Bulb BMW Angel Eyes DRL Marker Light True White 7000K E90-LCI E91-LCI (pack of 2) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0763SR5FM in my e90 LCI halogen headlights. They are much brighter than stock halogens or any other LEDs that I have tried on my angel eyes and look fantastic.

The color is bright white and they match my headlights perfectly. oEdRo H7 LED Headlight Bulb Conversion Kit - 4-side Patch LED Headlights H7, Upgraded CSP LED Chips, 8000Lm Super Bright H7 Led, 6000K White, 50000 Hours Life, 2-Year Warranty https://www.amazon.com/dp/B075J8K5ZD

These LED headlights very closely match a halogen filament source due to their design, so unlike other LED headlight bulbs, they aren't scattering light everywhere and blinding people if you have reflectors. It looks just like a halogen bulb, just brighter and whiter. I did have to code out the voltage check on the headlights so that they wouldn't flicker at start up, and clipping them on with the H7 retaining clips was a task easier done with the headlights removed, but other than that, I am very pleased. Let me know if you want a photo and I'll send you one.

It’s $83 on Amazon for the reader, and you have to buy the app which is $60, so $143 total. I have it and have loved it for quickly diagnosis problems (I keep the adapter in my glove box) and coding the car. In hindsight, I wish I bought something more like the Foxwell scanner which would be much more capable. (Carly can’t reset steering wheel angle sensor and stuff like that)

As a note, Carly will work with a cheap $20 obd2 scanner, it just won’t be able to do all functions like battery reset

Sand it smooth (use a block to protect the edge of the flat fender rim), apply filler if needed (then sand again), then prime, then paint. I can go into WAY more detail if you like, I rattlecanned my old Suburban to fix similar damage and had decent success.

This is a great source for auto paint: https://www.automotivetouchup.com/

They can match your paint code, and provide paint in spray cans or mixed to use with an air sprayer.

EDIT: Pick up a copy of The Haynes Automotive Body Repair & Painting Manual. It's excellent, and only $20!

Thank you so much for the post reply, I have a manual transmission and the car is at 140,000 but had a 40k mike transmission in it

For the coolant I found this on amazon, this looks like the right type, not sure how much I’ll need

All of the aftermarket Android units have junk audio quality and as of late there still isn't a fix for it. I use the tunai firefly bluetooth adapter and my phone connects immediately without having to do anything but press play. It's not car play or anything but certainly better than having to connect each time.

u/drgncabe · 1 pointr/E90

This is the one I use and it works great in my 2008 e90 335 w/iDrive. Just plug the USB and AUX in the jacks inside the center console and you're good to go. They also have a couple of different versions incase you already have the 30-pin ipad adapter or using another type of european car (Audi, etc..). It's been rock solid for me and has never given me an issue. Probably the first bluetooth device that hasn't given me at least one problem. lol

>Mpow

https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00KON1JIA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I use the same in my e90, works great, but like /u/mr-cafe says, you can't change tracks with it. Volume is fine. I use spotify and the buttons are large enough to hit when the phone's mounted to change tracks, so it's not an issue for me.

I recently started using a Tune2Air and a phone mount with wireless charging that automatically grabs your phone (this one). It’s a fantastic combo. My phone connects in seconds and from there it’s exactly the same as having an iPod plugged in. Steering wheel controls even work!
It’ll run you about $130 for the two, but it’s worth every penny.

u/Knooze · 2 pointsr/E90

This is in my ‘11 335i and it works great. I also have a mpow noise reducer and a USB hub for charging this and my phone.
