Don't forget to watch the Zeos review and get the 120v wall wart to go with it, it's a must. The one it comes with is for 100v Japanese. He linked it in the video. You also need a DAC. Schiit Modi Multibit or a Bifrost or something else.
Trust me on the pads, I have the 3100 setup. A bit of double sided tape and some bass ports made out of plastic tubes to break the seal and you're in heaven.
not trying to put you down.... because this is a great deal in the US... but I got my 2170 like new for less than $300
a brand new 3100 is like $550
Ooh very cool. BTW you should think about getting one of these stands > https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Z9X236M?psc=1 instead of the STAX stand. I don't see how that could be good for the headband longterm.
I used the vct vt-500j https://www.amazon.com/VCT-VT-500J-Japanese-Transformer-Converts/dp/B000PC4JL4/ref=sr_1_1?s=electronics&ie=UTF8&qid=1524442901&sr=1-1&keywords=vct+vt-500j
