TL;DR: Go buy this book. Read the preparation segments. Do the "success stories" exercises. Write a customized cover-letter for every job you apply for. Follow up.

The longer version:

The Toropov book recommends a system of using "personal success stories" to prepare for behaviour based interview questions. It's effective for that, certianly, but I think it has the anciliary benefit of helping you understand your own skills better. When job hunting, most of us still think of ourselves as marketable experiences, based on our work history. In fact what we have are skill sets that can be demonstrated by previous experiences. Being better able to confidently articulate your skill sets will help you. It will make you more confident, which is important in searching, and it will also help you write a resume and cover letter that sounds like it actually means something and isn't just a motley collection of buzz words and entry level jobs.

-)

Temp agencies can definitely be worthwhile, especially for entry level work. I have known a few people who found permanent work that way.

Also, don't talk about your old job openly until you can do it without feeling bitter. You obviously feel you were let go unjustly but the way that will come across to potential employers is that you're going to be a trouble maker. Practice saying "it wasn't a good fit" until you can do it in a tone of voice that sounds like you mean it, it was no big deal, and that it was your decision to leave.

Absolutely. I would look these items up on Makeup Alley, or see if Tati on youtube has reviewed them to see if they are something you would be interested in...
Coty Airspun– I think you should ask for the unscented powder since the scented one sounds overwhelming.
Catrice Cosmetics – Now this has some cult following, and it looks like Shoppers Drug Mart is starting to ship this, so the brand may be available in Canada soon! Again, check out Tati, she mentions a few.

Sonia Kashuk Brushes and Make Up – A brand that’s usually found at Target, her brushes are pretty well loved and bargain priced! I recall Target had a few other hard to find brands but I can’t think of any specifically.
Expensive brands like Hourglass and Charlotte Tilbury and Kat Von D are kinda available in Canada, but not the full line. Tarte Shape Tape (exclusively at Ulta) is a must have! Morphe is also at Ulta, another dream of mine.
Try this link too - http://www.mtv.co.uk/beauty/news/cult-us-beauty-products-not-sold-in-uk
Off topic, but I find the selection of Nike shoes and cool colours of sneakers limited in Edmonton. It’s hard with shoe size, but some of my best gifts have been these unique pieces.
Got a sweet tooth? This looks like heaven in a dessert!
I am sorry I can’t be more specific about products since it depends on skin type, complexion etc. But I hope this may help a bit, or at least you’ll learn a thing or two :D

Generally 2 antennas will be needed, would probably recommend a simple wire antenna for receiving on HF/SW but if you got money and want something small and compact I have heard great things about the DX Engineering - Pixel Technologies RF PRO-1B (The Northern Alberta Radio Club has one out at their club site).

For higher frequencies (above 30Mhz) a discone antenna would do very well. They don't have any gain, but they are very wideband. I have the Diamond D3000N that I'm quite impressed with, it does 25-3000MHz receive and even allows transmit anywhere between 50 and 1300MHz.

However if you want to be able to receive weak signals like ATC is from the northside, I would probably either buy or more likely build a yagi antenna. A yagi is a directional antenna, which means it has gain in a certain direction, the gain essentially amplifies the signal. Yagis are however rather narrow band, only a couple dozen mhz or so.

I will also link below the poles I was talking about from PA. You can probably rig something to support them, but I use this tripod as a base support and some 325 paracord for guying. It works well, the mast supports a discone as well as a couple of wire antennas.

Links for PA. Aluminium Poles ($12.99) / Fiberglass Poles ($3.99)

No specific suggestions for providers, but just an idea we liked. We bought an Instax cameras (basically Polaroid cameras) and a bunch of film and left them on the front table with the gifts. We asked people to use them all night and take polaroid-like photos, then deposit them in a box.

We got a ton of amazingly goofy photos with them. Loved the retro feel of the film, and the permanence of film over a digital camera seemed to bring out the best in people. It's been 3 years and I still take a few shots with that camera at birthdays, parties, etc. Compliments our DSLR and cell phones nicely. It's a modern take on the "leaving disposable cameras around" idea, better because people can immediately see the photos they took.

We had the Instax 210, no longer made; they replaced it with the Instax wide 300. We both like the wide format onces better, but the square-film Instax mini 9 cameras and film are more widely available.

We’re in there all the time in summer as we live a few blocks from the river. You just have to watch since some of the paths are through off-leash areas and dogs can appear unexpectedly or decide cyclists are fun to chase. We’ve never had a problem with an aggressive dog but I’ve had to slam on my brakes more than once to avoid one.

I don’t have kids and I don’t really have anything on my bike besides a kickstand, bell, and front/rear lights for night, but last year I did get some Amazon knockoffs of these spoke lights and love them both for visibility and because they make everyone i pass smile. I also have LED snap bracelets I wear on my wrists and ankles for night cycling and running, since I figure the more absurdly lit up I can make myself the safer I am.

I wear a really nice, padded one-shoulder bag from Fitmark similar to this because I can’t be bothered removing pannier bags whenever I lock it somewhere unsecure, and I find it comfortable and convenient. I commute in it every day with my laptop and stuff, but it’s be great for kid stuff too. It’s got textured channels in the back piece to help airflow so it doesn’t get sweaty, tons of compartments, etc. Worth the extra cash for me to get something designed to be worn on a bike or a run (but I’d warn you that if your wife is petite and wants a bag, get one that comes in women’s sizes so it’s not slipping off shoulders or bumping her seat like mine does when it’s not cinched to hell and back.)

Nintastic Case from thingiverse - 3D print it for cheap
Raspberry Pi 3 from Memory Express - 60 bucks, but the $90 kit has a psu and a memory card (a used RPi2 will also work perfectly well)
RetroPie - free
USB SNES Controllers x2 - 17 bucks

For around 100 bucks you can build a better retro game system that plays every game made from 1980-2000. I made one, and I love it.

ETA: Thanks for the gold!

I cut my cord a few months ago so this is pretty fresh for me.

I have a home theatre pc connected to the main tv in my house. Only running SSD and a minimal fan in the case so it is nearly silent. On the PC I run Netflix and have Amazon Prime video. I also use bittorrent to get stuff not available on those.

My cell phone plan is with Rogers so for that season it gets me access to NHL GameCenter. I use this along with a proxy to watch Oilers games.

Other sports have been a bit of an issue. I like to watch tennis and have to usually search around for a stream.

I also purchased an antenna. I can pull 5 channels. I should get another but I kind of have the antenna hidden out of site so I think that is messing with my signal. I don't use it often, but during things like the election I like to watch the news. Same with when there are a couple things on Global I want to see, like the Oscars or Grammys. The one I purchased is: https://www.amazon.ca/Mohu-Leaf-Indoor-HDTV-Antenna/dp/B00APPDX86.

On my secondary TV all I have is netflix through my xbox.

I have not tried out KODI yet but I hear it is pretty awesome

This is the one I bought from Amazon.

What I like about it is that it came with the 32GB SD card, it turns on/off automatically with outlet power and its been running perfectly down into the low -20's.

The only 'wiring' required was the cable for power to get my outlet, but that was super easy, with the long cable included. I've got mine mounted just out of my field of vision behind the rear view mirror so it doesn't bother me at all. The only indication that its working is when it first starts up with engine start the screen illuminates briefly, and then a little LED in the bottom right corner flashes blue/red while its recording. It also has a motion detection mode to turn on, but after a day or so of that I saw that it was constantly turning on, so I chose to be on with power from ignition.

It also has a built in battery so its easy to remove from its base and use as a portable camera if needed - such as continuing to document a collision.

All of the software you need is right on it, so you can pull/splice/edit video just by plugging it into your computer.

This model also includes a GPS feature so its storing map data as well so should you need the video you can embed a map on the output video (optional).

What sold me was not only the price and features, but this demo/review video.

I like the peace of mind for $140. In the video linked above the reviewer obsesses about putting black tape over white text on the camera so people outside can't see "camera" or whatever it says on the camera. The reviewer says it a few time that he used black tape. I used a black sharpie and coloured in the white text.

Haha no way I got the A119S too with the gps module that records your location and speed. It records audio very well too.
I bought it last August, worked fine in the winter when it was super cold out because it doesn't use a battery.

For storage I got a Transcend 32GB High Endurance microSD card. From the little research I did they cost a little more than a normal SD card but are better for dash cams and such.

I'm satisfied with the purchase myself for $158 total it was a very fair price and the quality is good enough at 1080 60fps, wide enough to see drivers next to you, catches enough light at night or during snow/rainstorms to see license plates I have no complaints. Would be nice to have one facing out the back now though in case someone rear ends you or something.

You don't have to be/look like Shawn Mendes to have a dating life... I hope you can go out and just be yourself. I'm maybe an optimistic 7 and I landed a 10 :D.

As for the exercise piece, for myself I've found that making it a habit as part of what I already do every day is quite key. I used to walk to the bus and take the bus to the train. Now three days a week I run to the train instead. I'm already going there and the time is about the same with the walking/waiting/round about route the bus takes vs the direct run there. It takes no additional time and is something I'm already doing. Now I'm getting off the train before my stop and lengthening how far I run at the other end to work. There's a book called atomic habits that talks a lot about this that I found quite helpful ( https://www.amazon.com/Atomic-Habits-Proven-Build-Break/dp/B07RFSSYBH/ref=sr_1_16?keywords=atomic+habits&qid=1566236091&s=gateway&sr=8-16 ). The best tip I could give you from the book is to begin to view yourself as something as opposed to trying to become something. The books gives an example of a group of people addicted to cigarettes trying to quit. The least successful group would respond to the offer of a cigarette as "No thanks, I'm trying to quit". The most successful group responded "No thanks, I'm not a smoker". In the context of your pursuit of wellness this could become I'm healthy and active. Every time you are confronted with a choice to be healthy/active or not you make choices to reinforce your identity as a healthy/active person.

If losing weight is your goal don't forget to try and tie in what you're eating. Running for a half hour burns 400 calories. Avoiding a cinnamon bun avoids 700 calories.

If you are new and overwhelmed you should check out dashcamtalk.com and look at their recommended devices. I have the A118C ("C" means it has a capacitor rather than a battery - I wouldn't bother with battery ones as they have lifespan issues) as it is a lot less conspicuous. Recommendation depends on your budget, but my budget preference is the A118C, you can get it off foxoffer on eBay for a bit cheaper than amazon.ca. Other sellers may give you a different build which has some audio issues. All versions should be able to take the firmware updates that are listed on dashcamtalk.

You mean a microphone that can plug into a 2.5mm audio socket, right? Rather than a 3.5mm one. Not a microphone that is physically 2.5mm?

Your best bet will be an adapter, something like this:

https://www.amazon.ca/Adapter-Converter-Headphone-Earphone-Headset/dp/B07SWVC5ZG/ref=sr_1_6?crid=3G4VZ123CD4HL&keywords=25mm+to+3.5mm+adapter&qid=1570997321&sprefix=2.5mm+to+%2Caps%2C204&sr=8-6

It'll be much easier to then find a microphone that plugs in. Even easier would be a 1/4" microphone, something like this:

https://www.long-mcquade.com/1694/Pro-Audio---Recording/Microphones/Apex-Electronics/Hand-Held-Dynamic-Microphone-w--1-4-inch-Cable.htm

and then an adapter from 1/4" down to 3.5mm and another down to 2.5mm

This is mine

Works good, wires are pretty well hidden with a little work, and was a good price for the features.

u/Tooq · 3 pointsr/Edmonton

Check these out: https://www.amazon.ca/YI-Security-Wireless-Waterproof-Surveillance/dp/B01CW49AGG/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1526159934&sr=8-3&keywords=yi+camera+outdoor

Good price, has night vision and two-way voice. Bought one a few months ago after someone here recommended them and I'm very happy with it.

u/trevinshu97 · 1 pointr/Edmonton

Oh I see is that free? Also can I use the Flex Delivery feature on Amazon even if the package isn't shipped by Amazon? Like for example this package.

u/blademaster11 · 2 pointsr/Edmonton

This radon detector, Corentium home by Airthings Radon Gas Detector, is suppose to be the best consumer grade detector device sold on Amazon. They occasionally go on sale. I've bought it for $180 a month ago. Check it out if you don't want to wait for the screening kit.

I recommend the Wyze Cam. They're cheap but they work just as well as the Nest and others. I'm sorry this happened to you, OP

u/dingmah · 4 pointsr/Edmonton

Yi Outdoor camera for $120 from Amazon. It's 1080p and records to micro SD card. Notifies you when it senses movement, and doesn't require a paid subscription. You can sign up for a subscription, but it works totally fine without it. Has infrared LEDs for night vision. https://www.amazon.ca/YI-Security-Wireless-Waterproof-Surveillance/dp/B01CW49AGG/ref=sr_1_7?ie=UTF8&qid=1521083704&sr=8-7&keywords=yi+camera

I installed it overlooking the driveway, and tucked the power cable to the edge of the garage door. The facade of my garage is all thick ass brick, and I'm not about to try to drill through it. The cable is only about 10 feet long, but you can extend it with a USB extender, which is what I had to do to reach the power outlet inside the garage. Pic of my install https://i.imgur.com/BA3KP5R.png

I've shown family members my camera, and they all want one now.

u/sseeeds · 10 pointsr/Edmonton

Sucks that you've had to deal with all this.

I definitely second the recommendation in the other thread that you should get a camera on that tree. They clearly want the tree gone, and once you say that you won't be removing it, they might try something else.

With all the money you've already spent, you could invest $60 to get a Wyze cam and an SD card, and just record continuous video from a window inside your house.
