Agreed on the full charge before riding it which will almost certainly take 6+ hours depending how much charge it has when it arrives.

The throttle has a variety of settings that make it work properly with the scooter (e.g. it knows how to properly assess distance ridden and battery power and so on). My Zero 10x came with a sheet spelling it out. As it happened, RevRides, who I bought it from, had already made the settings but something to check (once set correctly you never want to mess with them).

There are also a few user changeable settings for the ride you want such as how strong the regen braking is, how much torque it'll give on acceleration, miles or kilometer display and so on. I went with middle-of-the-road settings myself but this is all a matter of user preference so know they are there and fiddle with them till you get it all as you want. NOTE: I was encouraged to leave auto-pilot off till I became experienced with the scooter which I did.

Know that this is lightyears more powerful than the Lime scooter. Give it some respect when you first start riding. Leave it in Mode 1 (of three) "low" speed setting, only one motor active, Eco on and have a whirl. You'll get used to it quickly but the torque and acceleration can be surprising. Top speed too once you engage higher speed modes.

Also, and maybe this was just mine, but I find the brakes to be really touchy. Like they grab pretty hard even with a light touch which wants to throw me forward. No accidents or anything but at 60 miles ridden the brakes are still touchy on mine and a bit uncomfortable (read jerky when first applied). Just something to watch out for till you get used to it. I hope it is just a matter of breaking them in some more and/or getting more used to modulating them properly. That or perhaps my local bike shop can lighten them up a bit (bicycle brakes so they are familiar with them).

I have found no reason to carry a charger with me. These charge up pretty slowly so charging on the go won't get you much compared to some smaller scooters. Leave a charger at the office and one at home and you should be fine. It has a pretty long range so should be good for most jaunts on a single charge. Of course YMMV depending on your needs and use.

As for locking it up realize you are parking $1500 on the street and this will catch people's eyes. Cable locks are close to worthless (they can be gotten through with a hand-held, concealable tool in seconds). After much looking and asking I settled on Master Lock Cuffs. I clamp one end to the stem, below the control cables and the other to the bike rack. It will stop anyone unless they go at it with an angle grinder (which some might but not likely in public during the day). I am getting a handlebar bag where I will carry it but till then they are fine in my backpack (a little heavy but no biggie). Nothing is perfect but these are pretty good.

Enjoy!

Thanks! I'll look into BikeLink!

Yes, it's both the weight and the dimensions. The Dart has a really spacious deck. Nice for riding, a bit awkward for maneuvering. I hear ewheels is coming out with trolley wheels soon. That may help a bit, but I still think it's too large to take in most places. It's fine for stairs at home --> to work, though. Certainly not something I'll be stashing under the table at a restaurant like I did with the Glion.

Wheels are mostly covered, so locking through them is out with any serious lock. I got StreetCuffs based on somebody's recommendation here, and I think they'll work out well enough. I think the best place to lock will be around the little neck between the deck and the actual pole, right around where the foot pedal to fold is. If I fold it up, it would be impossible to even unfold the thing with the cuffs on. A U-Lock could work in this area as well.

These are the StreetCuffs: https://www.amazon.com/Master-Lock-Street-9-Hardened-8290DPS/dp/B0009V1WQQ/

I didn't get the rapid charger. It does take awhile to charge, but so far the battery has lasted as much as I've needed it to in a day and I'm content to just let it charge overnight.

Good luck with whatever you choose! I really do love the Dart - if you can find a way to live around the size, it is a fantastic ride for the price!

This is the schwinn cargo cart on Amazon it is just under a C-note so IMO good deal and well built and it folds up flat, to store and take places like camping. FYI they also make kid and pet carts as well. it is designed for a bike and there was only one small mod I had to do to make it fit on the 10x. There is a bracket that mounts to the port aft wheel where you attach and detach the cart, it looks like this. the only issue is the slot in that bracket is smaller that the stock nut on the 10x. The stock nut has a shoulder on it which makes the circumference of that nut larger than the relief in that bracket for the nut and locking washer. So I went to my local hardware store, and purchased a M10 split locking nut and most importantly a M12 size nut (got to love metric) with most importantly a 1.25 pitch thread, that is what the threads are on the axle of the wheel. All you have to do is remove your stock nut, put on the bracket, put the new nut on, tighten it down, make sure the bracket is level to ground like you do when it is on a bike. Boom, Bob's your uncle, there you go, you can now safely get a couple cases of beer back home with your scooter, easy peasy.

Let me know if you have any questions.

BTW with the cart on, the scooter rode great, you just need to be aware of the trailer length, just like when you are towing a trailer on a car, you need to take wide turns when towing.

ILM 10 Colors Motorcycle Flip up Modular Helmet DOT (L, Gloss Black) https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B0197VNGVW/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_i_6LDDDbADV7FKC

I mean it's a motorcycle helmet, but I find it's quite comfortable to wear as it's got the visor to not have stuff fly in my face if I want and it also has a secondary visor that acts like sunglasses if it's bright out.

I'd say it's pretty easy to carry, but I can see if some people not consider it to be. I feel the visor really adds another level of security.

Tile is a nice poor-man's lowjack, with downsides, and ways to mitigate them:

-Tile is fantastic if you live in a city since there's people walking around with tile apps CONSTANTLY. Outside of urban areas its usefulness drops off enormously.

-Stick to the tile pro for the longer range and stronger signal, wish they made a big PRO-pro with huge range

-Put MULTIPLE tile pros on your scooter. Like, three, in disparate places, but have one very visible in a weather resistant pouch like https://www.amazon.com/Fintie-Replaceable-Anti-Scratch-Lightweight-Semi-Transparent/dp/B07VCJ3Y7S .

-Anyone who grabs the scooter has a decent chance of ditching the first tile and then won't go looking for any more, thinking they succeeded. Also, having 2+ makes gives the tiles a much better chance of getting connections to nearby phones.

I haven't had my scooter stolen yet but people who use the above tactics on stuff like gym bags can often get borderline realtime updates on their bag's whereabouts, which CAN be given to police as evidence of theft

I wasn't familiar with this model. The specs in this listing seem wrong. 600w won't do 35mph.

  • EXTREMELY FAST AND LONG & RANGE BATTERY LIFE - A 600W motor propels the e-scooter to a max speed of 35 MPH; High capacity 52V 30.5Ah 1586Wh battery with a maximum driving range of up to 70 miles
  • DUAL AIR SPRING SUSPENSIONS - The newly introduced rear air suspension allows you to adjust the strength of the suspension by simply changing the position of the two step tension control; You get a more comfortable and stable ride with dual suspension
  • 10-INCH WIDE TUBE TIRE & EASY WHEEL SYSTEM - It comes with 70mm wide tube tires that provide unrivaled riding comfort, excellent grip and convenient maintenance; Upgraded easy wheel repair system to much easier to separate and recombine during tire puncture for user self maintenance

Honestly, get an M365 like 90% of us on here. It's a solid scooter, lightweight, foldable, and cheap. You can always upgrade, but it checks all the boxes for most of us. There are certainly faster scooters with better range. But for the price, I don't think it's worth it. I love how light the M365 is and you simply don't get additional range without additional weight/battery. If someone can point me to something that rivals the M365 at that pricepoint, I'm all ears.

  1. I bought this one and it's been great: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07RCDBQBQ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  2. Once you install the pro dash, you'll use pro firmware, so that page is correct.
  3. I haven't ever heard of it working with an iphone. Maybe borrow a friend's? It doesn't take long to do.

I did the dual battery mod and don't have to worry about range anymore. Bear in mind that even after flashed, your top speed is going to be like 17mph once your battery drops to around 80%, and it still doesn't climb hills very well. I also bought one of those rear fender supports and it's great, no more rattling.
u/VR-Unclebob · 2 pointsr/ElectricScooters

If you want to use any custom firmware then don't upgrade. The latest upgrades encrypts the bluetooth which makes 3rd party apps and firmware flashing impossible.

DRV 155 is fine but as its a clone board BMS and BLE have to be flashed using the ST-Link method.

The documents say soldering but there is no need if you buy some pins for the ST-Link as clone motherboards have holes for the pins so that they are easy to flash.

Get ST-Link Get Pins

Put pins in ST-Link connectors

Plug ST-LINK into PC, set up ST-Link drivers and software

Download firmware needed to PC

Plug ST-Link leads into the correct holes on the clone board

Run the ST-Link software to flash the board

Done

Details are here for the whole thing including great firmware for heavier guys or for people faced with hills. Its the V9 firmware at the bottom of the page:

I'm guessing you're in the US since you're referencing FFR. What's your current scooter? I don't normally join circlejerks, but the Xiaomi M365 is a pretty good value and it's below your budget at $379 right now on Amazon. Pneumatic tires will provide better grip and ride quality than solid tires, and if you keep the pressure up high enough (depends on your weight, but around 50 PSI), flats are not that big of an issue. The stem wobble is also better in recently produced units, and if it ever gets bad you can buy cheap rubber dampers to tighten it back up.

u/OnanationUnderGod · 3 pointsr/ElectricScooters

I figured out how to change the tires pretty easily. You can take the tube out with the tire lever; this is the easy part.

To put the tire back on, first put the valve through the hole. Then, use the clamps and the tire iron (or possibly start with the tire levers) to do the rest. Clamp it as far as you can on each side (1/3rd to 1/2th the tire clamped in place) and keep moving the tire into position with two tools very close to each other starting close to the clamps. When you make some progress, put a new clamp into position. I had to use the tire irons for the last part as it's extremely tight. **You won't be able to go straight for putting the rest of the tire on, you have to do it bit by bit from the clamps.

I've been using this POC:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07K9KLCRS/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o03_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I'm not into full-face helmets, and this is the safest & most comfortable + best looking standard helmet out there.

u/Cy_Burnett · 1 pointr/ElectricScooters

I recommend getting a folding lock. https://www.amazon.co.uk/Abus-Bordo-Grip-Chain-Black/dp/B00FUHEPVS/ref=sr_1_5?keywords=folding+lock&qid=1567774095&s=gateway&sr=8-5 It works well, is secure. Goes well with the M365 and it sits nicely on the handlebar.

u/Slayblaze · 2 pointsr/ElectricScooters

True, it is quite interesting. One thing about it is that generally speaking I ride as if nobody even sees me (in other words extremely defensively) and if I am riding around on that premise, then why would I need to signal - assuming no one even sees me to begin with..?

Now I don't want to make it seem as if I'm *trying* to not be seen, nothing could be further from the truth. In fact I use the built-in headlights/tailights on my scooter as daytime running lights, as well as an extremely super-bright aftermarket headlight https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071ZJYF78 as well as *two* rear aftermarket tail lights with turn signals https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B06XXHDQLN and https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07NJ7B693 yes I actually have all of those installed just so I can be seen!

But.... I still drive with the assumption that most drivers are not looking for me, because that is in fact the unfortunate truth.

u/CurviestOfDads · 3 pointsr/ElectricScooters

I was eyeing this, which are supposedly pretty good if you can find a way to mount them, as seen here on this Zero 8: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=1&v=uJovGdgYkEA (it looks like they use this to mount it)

I seem to be very unlucky with my electric vehicles. I truley do ride them carefully, when I go over bigger bumps i kinda pull up so the tires dont take a big hit and I take smooth roads and stay on bike paths, I never ride it in the rain even though technically I could. I have had an es2 break on me, an acton blink quatro( A $1700 BOARD) break so consistently that it spent more time in SF getting fixed than in my possession. Luckily I am kind of a pain in the ass about getting refunds so I haven't taken a financial hit from these I do take a mental hit when I have to spend hours on the line with tech support and customer service. I just want something that won't break under very normal operating procedures. the m365 seems to be the right one cause there are so many people that own them. I did already purchase the X7 now just cause I need it for transport and the initial answer I got was meh. I'm taking a chance on this one mainly cause the specs are more what I am looking for. Also I would but the xaomi pro if it was on amazon. my es2 refund just came through and it was given as amazon credit which I requested cause it would mean zero processing time and I did need a new one asap. If you're curious I can let you know how it is in a few months or if this one breaks on me too. In that case I would just buy a xaomi once and for all. The current listing on amazon is very odd though It is sold by xaomi but the different buying options weirds me out

You're right, that's what makes Reddit great - people can weigh in with their opinions and have a nice discussion on a variety of topics.

Where I take issue is when a user presents an opinion followed immediately by "don't listen to opinions that are different from mine." ("don't listen to the negative reviews")

In that case I WILL jump in because, like it or not, the data shows a very different picture and OP should read it before making a purchasing decision.

I am also in Florida (southeast) and ride with an HWK jacket similar to u/Admiral_Flapjack. Is it a bit warm? Yes, but not totally unbearable. You will find yourself a bit moist, but the little bit of ventilation the zipper vents provide is helpful.

While checking out the post of the Cookie Monster helmet cover, I came across these jacket vents. I am seriously considering purchasing a pair: Moto Loot Ventz

Ordered a set, when they arrive, I'll post some thoughts.

u/mubbythelarge · 1 pointr/ElectricScooters

I just finished a rear tire change myself for the first time. A few things that helped me that I picked up from various youtube videos:

I used quick-grip clamps to compress the tire and keep it in the wheel on the opposite side I'm working on. I placed 2 clamps aligned with the spokes on either side of the valve, and worked on the other side so I don't accidentally damage the valve with my efforts. I have clamps like these:
https://www.amazon.com/IRWIN-QUICK-GRIP-1964758-One-Handed-Clamp/dp/B001DSY4QO

I lubed the tire bead edge and wheel rim with WD-40. It still took a lot of force to get the final section of bead over the rim, but the lube really helped. My first attempts at taking off the tire ended up with my old set of plastic levers snapping. Had to make a trip to the local bike store to get a new set of nylon tire levers with steel core. The ones I found were made by Specialized. They did a great job (tires were still stubborn but came off and on).

I noticed that too on Amazon. I checked the price history using camelcamelcamel and you can see that they periodically jack the price way up for a short amount of time and then slam it back down. I've noticed some price creep like this before on amz but nothing with such huge changes.

I think if you wait a short while it'll go back down.
