Thanks to everyone for their help and suggestions.

Sadly, my visit to St Vinnie's made it fairly clear that TwinXL's aren't something they really 'have' on a regular basis. Twin, yes, TwinXL, not so much.

Thanks to /u/chadf's suggestion, I ended up finding a mattress on amazon with some pretty epic looking reviews. While I'd rather have tested it out in person, time's getting short for this move.. and I kind of needed it 'solved'.

You're welcome! They send you a bright blue non-removable sticker to put on your bike, identifying it as registered with the police. Could be an additional deterrent, who knows.

Locking: Sturdy U-Lock (like the New York Fahgettaboudit) through the frame & rack, sturdy cable lock (I have this one) through the wheels and secured to your U-lock. Locks are still only a deterrent, but that and locking in a highly visible location could be enough. At least, I've had luck with it. Knocks on wood

I like these a bit better for this. You can build one out of a soda can too. My thought here is that you can run it on bottles of yellow HEET (fuel line defroster) which you can get at any gas station, hardware store or grocery store. For someone living on the streets it's a bit easier to get a hold of than a canister of fuel for a stove.

Get this book: http://www.amazon.com/Understanding-Exposure-3rd-Edition-Photographs/dp/0817439390

It's a really great read. Explains the basics. And like several others here, I'd be happy to go over some photography basics with you.

It's been a while but the U of O had a group of people that met on campus and went on photography walks from time to time when I worked there. It might be worth investigating if they still do that.

If you love popcorn keep your eye out for a deal on one of these. Use coconut oil to pop the corn and you won't even need to add flavoring, though salt can be a good addition.

BlackSys CH100B. It's a 2-channel (front and rear) with Wifi, which allows me to view the videos instantaneously via its iPhone App. It was around $300.

BUT you don't have to spend a lot. The Viofo is a very good front cam. I bought them for a few relatives for Christmas. I recommend getting it hard wired to your car and use Custom Audio for install as their labor prices are very reasonable.

I am very happy with this one https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006L9VANK/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1
Being able to read the thousands of reviews was a good substitute for not being able to try it out before buying.

We got America test kitchen recommended chef knife. Link https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000638D32/ref=cm_sw_em_r_mt_dp_U_kQmTDbYAD8NFB. Works great.

Not Lane County/Eugene specific, but Oregon Geographic Names is a really fun book that talks about...well what it says on the tin.

Before dropping a lot of money on a nice keyboard, get a sample set of switches to see what your preference is.

The link below includes a test set of 6 Different Cherry MX Switches: Cherry MX Green, Cherry MX Clear, Cherry MX Red, Cherry MX Black, Cherry MX Brown, and Cherry MX Blue.

Amazon has 128 ounces of 70% Isopropyl alcohol for $0.10/ounce with prime shipping here. As others have mentioned though, grow shops and hardware stores will be your best bet.

u/Flyer770 · 1 pointr/Eugene

Definitely suggest getting the dual camera setup. This is what I have and I like it.

u/DothrakAndRoll · 1 pointr/Eugene

These have mixed reviews but I have had luck with them.

I'm citing a story from this great book https://www.amazon.com/Great-Minor-Moments-Oregon-History/dp/0943511003/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=great+and+minor+moments+in+oregon&qid=1572036675&sr=8-3

Basically GM and Firestone bought shares and properties in the rail system and shut it down as a way of forcing people to take buses. I'm paraphrasing, of course.
