Wow, this is coincidental. Just 20 minutes ago I was playing USF4 with one of my PS2 fightpads.

This one: http://www.amazon.com/Street-Fighter-Anniversary-Controller-Playstation-2/dp/B00062W2GW

I have two versions of the MadCatz fightpads (full-sized and SD) as well as a Hori Fighting Commander 5. When I play with a pad, I still go back to the old PS2 version. The dpad is very good (better than the Hori and Madcatz). Plus it's got a mega super awesome futuristic hologram.

Cons: honestly the shape is not quite as good as the original madcatz for large hands. Almost as good though. And the select button is too close to the other buttons, so I just removed it.

Well you get what you pay for when it comes to arcade sticks. When I was doing research to get mine I found that the qanba q1 doesn't have quality parts. If you are new to fighting games and want to try a stick out then this may be a good one since it is cheap, but it is really easy to upgrade the buttons and sticks to higher quality ones.

I also read on srk that pcb failures have been reported, but the person said that it happened to his stick, but not his friends. so idk about that

That being said madcatz sticks are quality. If you get a tournament ediciont (TE) then they will come out of the box with good parts and they are known for lasting several years. They are more expensive though. As for pc support the x box ones do have official pc support but the ps3 ones do not. The ps3 ones may still work with your computer if you get lucky with the chipset you have in your computer. I got a madcatz SFxT ps3 arcade stick when it was on sale and it does work with my computer so you may want to do some research on your specific computer.

If you could spare the extra 40 sollars and don't mind that it is a ps3 stick I highly reccomend this stick, but if you just want a beginner arcade stick that you can upgrade later if you like it then the qanba q1 would be ok

For a nice all-in-one cheap solution, I'd go with the Elite F300.

If you're willing to mod, then I'd suggest a 8bitdo N30 w/ Sanwa buttons and Sanwa joystick. This will give you the same as above but with bluetooth and I'm pretty sure it will eliminate the need for an extra controller to get it hooked up to xbox/ps.

If you're looking for something bigger but still cheap, then I would have to suggest a used Razer Panethera or Hori RAP 4 on Amazon for about 100-130. The returns on Amazon Warehouse are usually people who tried the stick for an hour or two and didn't care for it. They're usually pretty damn nice and offer around 30-40% discount. I once got a "used" display shelf that still had all the protective material on and around the shelf, like the sticker kind that you can't re-apply... so I guess somebody literally just opened the box and said well nevermind and returned it.

I know it sounds crazy, but I've been using the keyboard on PC and it's actually working pretty well. ASD for movement, space for jump, attacks on numpad. It's like a free hitbox alternative, basically.

For console I just bought one of these. It's not that great but they're only 10 dollars. The buttons are great, the stick takes a bit of getting used to and after about a year my last one started flaking out a tiny bit. I can't justify spending $150 for a stick, though. A regular controller isn't that awkward.

Many streamers who speedrun SNES and N64 games use this: https://www.amazon.com/I-connection-video-capture-GV-USB2/dp/B00428BF1Y

I have one and it's pretty good. The only downside is that the driver is in Japanese, but it's still pretty easy to install.

Or you can use a Dazzle, which won't be as good but would be cheaper. Whatever you do, I would definitely not recommend getting some $10 AV capture device. I had one and they are pretty bad.

I spent 10 edit: minutes scoping out a physical copy. For those who don't know, only release was in Japan on Super Famicom.

Typical eBay pile of fake reproduction carts, including with unauthorized use of fan translation. Let's skip those.

Including shipping, one Buy It Now CIB for $60. Loose is $34-40, though bidding should be cheaper in the end.

As Gundam Wing was much more popular outside of Japan (Toonami!), worth looking at Japanese auctions. No eBay in Japan but Yahoo Auctions is popular and Rakuten and Amazon also worth checking. Should definitely be cheaper for CIB. I don't think worth the proxy bidding and shipping fees for loose.

According to reviews on Amazon US, the boards in those DIY arcade stick sets might have a tendency to go bad in a short amount of time. However, it still might be a good learner stick and a fun shoebox build, if you want to go that route.

However, since you learned on a pad and you're main game is an NRS title, I would recommend you stick with a pad. For about the same price, you could pick up a 3rd party DualShock 2 controller, and a PS to USB adapter.

This was the one I was looking at specifically. (https://www.amazon.com/Sanwa-GT-Y-Octagonal-Restrictor-Joysticks/dp/B004AU0H4U/ref=pd_bxgy_63_img_2?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B004AU0H4U&pd_rd_r=VQ8SQBR63J75W000T081&pd_rd_w=oE2PY&pd_rd_wg=XYPss&psc=1&refRID=VQ8SQBR63J75W000T081)

I'm used to Dualshock sticks, which I think are octagonal. I'm not against learning squared ones though. I feel like getting a Sanwa would give me an excuse to learn how to work on a stick internally too.

And again, thanks a whole lot for the help.

I use the Hori DPad joy con replacement for playing in handheld.

Haven’t a solution for docked yet, I use the 8bitdo dongle that allows me to connect a PS4 DualShock to my switch.

I’ve heard the Pokken controller is quite good, as is some of the offerings from 8bitdo.

A fight pad coming soon made by PowerA looks like what your after. I’ll be picking it up - Power A Fight Pad

Yeah it's very expensive. The Tournament Edition is the same price but can be opened and components can be easily replaced. But I really like the classic arcade design.

I got the Hori EX2 stick as my first purchase, which I am glad I did as I got to see the difference in quality between that and now my 2 TE sticks. I then tried the wireless Tekken stick...
http://www.amazon.com/Tekken-Limited-Wireless-Bundle-Playstation-3/dp/B002ED5ZR4
Horrible. I'd rather use the Xbox pad than this laggy and unresponsive device. TE is the best and you'll notice it when you try other sticks.

If I could go back though, I'd get 2 Qanbis because my friends have PS3s.

http://www.amazon.com/ConsoleTuner-Titan-One-Xbox-playstation-4/dp/B00LH5XZQS
That's what I was referring to but as I said if its compatible with PC I'll be fine with it. I just want something that's good for mk and usf4

BJJ gis are notorious for having patches all over them. Here is one example from amazon.

Certainly you will not find one that already says "Maximum" on the side. I recommend getting pants and then putting together a patch or embroiderment somehow. IIRC his pants are orange but you could do a different color. If you have your heart set on orange but cannot find any there is still a solution. Buy a white pair. You can get color die from Jo Ann Fabrics or even some grocery stores. All you have to do is mix the color in a sink full of water and set the pants in overnight. I made a pink gi from a white one this way.

EDIT:
There are places on the web which will make custom patches, such as http://www.patchesrus.com/. Some require a minimum bulk order. Otherwise, maybe you could try cafepress or one of those places. The "Maximum" letters on his pants are actually quite large. What you could do is sew on a black rectangle, then just order letter patches and sew those on top. IMO that would be the least expensive option.

I was in the same situation as you were in May.

It's actually closer to $350 CAD with the shipping and the conversion rate. I don't even know what the import duties are going to be like.

Best buy has the CronusMax Plus for $69.99 CAD plus taxes. It won't be tournament legal, and a converter hooked up to a computer is bound to introduce input/translation lag but it'll let you play on the keyboard.

You might consider a xim4 for $270 CAD or so but at that price range you might consider the hitbox.

Alternatively, you can buy some precut hitbox plexiglass and buttons and convert your HRAP4. /r/fightsticks will have more information on that, or google.

Edit: Here's a shoryuken thread on the topic.

So, if I may pick your brain a little more, what is this difference between this and this ? Mainly, is the price gap worth it?

u/wisdom_and_frivolity · 5 pointsr/Fighters

This is a repost because the other one was a redirect through twitter with a referral link. hella shady.

if you want to post amazon links, just post this:

https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0188YF39W/

instead of this:

amazon derp com/gp/product/B0188YF39W/ref=as_li_ss_tl?psc=1&linkCode=sl1&tag=techvolc-20&linkId=8f51f837cd390517568c16a3fd35f339

the link is cleaner and you don't have the tag=techvolc-20 part which is the referrer code.

This one.

Apparently they only made them for the 360/PS3 though.

I used this one for a long time with no issue at all. Any madcatz fightpad will generally be a good purchase.

That being said, stay WAY away from this piece of shit (or any PDP products) and this one. The first one I had TWO of and both lasted about a month. The second is alright, but the d-pad really isn't good. Anything with a diagonal motion requires extra effort to make it work.
