What's your classical model? If you have a decent classical, slap on some luthier 30s (or similar, whatever your preference on sound is), play around with the action a bit, and that may serve you for the next couple years better than the Cordoba gypsy kings guitar. I started with a Cordoba 30F, and the sound is decent, but boy oh boy was a handmade blanca ever an upgrade in every way possible. Not a huge fan of Cordobas, but they are good student guitars.

Buddy of mine used the Yamaha flamenco guitar to learn on, and that sounds decent as well for being under $400. http://www.amazon.com/Yamaha-CG172SF-String-Flamenco-Guitar/dp/B004MDKTIY

> Ideally I'd love for a cutaway and a pickup,

Now that's just plain cheating.
